Review Rose Garden - Albuquerque

Scott Keele
This place was great for takeout. The food was above average and when we were there, only a short wait. This place was super close to where we were staying, so I can see it becoming one of our favorite grab-and-take-home places.

Always consistent, the cashew nut chicken no baby corn add bean sprouts. Both locations are great! I love the fact it’s a family business- Howe do we know this? The youngest does her homework right there during the evening rush! Now that’s a family business!! Keep up the great work.

Delicious food. Great for takeout. The shrimp in lobster sauce was some of the best I've had. And the egg drop soup was perfect. Can't wait to order sgain!

I’m for sure not a regular here because it is way out of my way, but is consistently worth the 30 min drive (one way). It’s always delicious and the staff is very friendly and efficient. One of the best things is that the food is so piping hot that it is still fresh and hot when I get home 30 minutes later! I’ve been going to both locations for about 15 years and I have never had a bad experience. Best Egg Foo Young I’ve found in Albuquerque, love the hot and sour soup and my son loves the Orange Chicken. It’s an order at the counter or take out type of place so definitely not the spot to go if you’re looking for a table service atmosphere.

Best Chinese take-out in the area. Their extensive menu and very consistent quality make this our go-to choice. They have recently reopened the dining room for in restaurant dine in. They have two locations nearby. If it is Monday or Tuesday, be sure to choose the open one.

First time here, and I wasn't sure what to expect. It is not a traditional sit-down Chinese establishment nor fast food. The service is excellent and the food is tasty. I had the pepper steak and it was really good. I cannot tell you the last time I have seen pork fried rice on a menu.

The food here is always good. Made to order. Dining in is not great. Food comes in to go containers. You se a t yourself and get your own drinks, which are not in the dining room but the lobby area.

When we want Chinese food, our go-to now is Rose Garden. They are reasonably priced, the food is really good, portion sizes are enough for a couple meals, and the service is always great. The crab rangoons are to die for just have to put that out there. I deducted a star on the food simply because of the containers they use that don't allow any moisture out. When you order for delivery, expect none of your main courses to be crispy and order your food accordingly. This won't apply to the fried rice, egg/spring rolls, crab rangoons, or their amazing soups, but any of the battered chicken and beef it most def does apply. I personally just take-out now and when I get in my car. I crack all the dishes tops and carefully place them where they won't get tipped over. This allows them to keep a lot of the crispy. All-in-all a great place to eat and wonderful people serving you. Just wish they would get containers that let out some moisture.

With the exception of their pot stickers, dumplings and egg rolls, which are very good, their fried fare is average at best (think sweet and sour shrimp or orange chicken). But their other offerings are excellent. Their kung pao is possibly the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked protein and vegetables every time, just the right heat, not too greasy, no skimping on meat, and more than enough to feed two. Portions are huge and very reasonably priced.

Good food! The lunch menu is where it is at, for the price you get a ton of food!

Ordered seafood delight, and there was soo much gel substance with white stuff, looked pretty disturbing. I brought the food back and the employee said it was the cornstarch in the sauce. She laughed and repeatedly said it was cornstarch. When I got to work, I tried eating the food, but the food did not have any flavor, too chewy and the lobster has not been fully cooked. The meat looked a little pink. I have pics of the food. Never returning again.

The food is always made to order and served hot! It is also very flavorful. I have a difficult time choosing what to eat because everything I've tried is great. I do love the egg drop soup, egg rolls, chicken (or beef) with vegetables, chicken (or beef) with broccoli, kung pao chicken, General Tso Chicken, and fried rice. I have not tried any seafood dishes only because I cannot eat seafood. My kids love to eat there and always ask to go. The customer service is awesome and our food is ready pretty quick considering that it is a sit down or call-in restaurant. The prices are reasonable.

It was a nice restaurant with good food. I had the sesame chicken and it was delicious. The waiter was a respectful young man who checked in on us without being overbearing.

Fortunately my take out order was filled quickly even thought the restaurant was very busy.Unfortunately the food was sub par. I ordered Moo Shu pork...it was too salty to eat and just regular tortillas were served instead of the thin "pancakes" that should come with this dish. The sweet and sour chicken was so tough it was unpleasant to eat. This is the second time take out was poor. Sad because there are so few restaurants close to home. Now there's one less to choose from.

Seafood Delite I think it was or Deluxe, it was great last time! It was a little Pricey but actually worth it. The lunch combo, Chicken Cho Mein time before wasn't my favorite by far though...

Great food. The price shocked me. Very affordable.

we always ordered our Chinese food from the Paradise location and never had a bad experience. we had take out from the Golf Course location because Paradise is closed. My pet peeve is when establishments do not clean their chicken. I ordered chicken lo mein and my wife had orange beef. My chicken was gristly and even pulled a sharp 1/2 inch chicken bone out of my mouth. My wife's orange chicken was not in bite size pieces but really large chunks. unless you only want steamed dumplings, I'd stay away from this location until they get better at prepping their proteins
Yellow Vegtables
The food here is tasteless. The rice tastes like plastic. Everything is oily, including the vegetables. The chicken doesn't even taste or feel like chicken. I gag every time i eat it. It peels like an onion or something and its very unnatural. I highly do not reccomend going here.

Waiter screwed up our order and brought us the wrong desert and brought a combo meal when we asked for just the entree. Thanks for charging us extra for the combo even though we didn't ask for it....he looked really nervous and we could hear some lady in the kitchen barking orders at everyone...it made for a really awkward dining experience and the same lady rang us up and was really rude. Would never come here again as food is sub par.

Exceptional. I have Celiac Disease, and eating out can be a nightmare. However, I have been eating at Rose Garden on Universe & Paradise for the past 7 years, and I have never gotten sick, nor have I had a bad meal. The food is always very fresh and the prices are extremely reasonable.

The restaurant is family-owned, and the entire staff is very attentive and helpful.

One gripe: they charge an additional $1.00 for brown rice -- which is ridiculous. On top of that, the brown rice is the only thing that is not fresh (they keep it in their refrigerator, and warm it up once it is ordered). While it doesn't taste bad, it does not taste fresh and it does take away from the overall meal quality. As such, I order the white rice.

Over all I like it. The food and prices are great.... Cute girl in the front is rude....but besides that perfect

We have eaten at Rose Garden since they opened and have never hss a bad experience. The food has always been top quality, prepared quickly, and presented well. The staff are very efficient but still courteous. I recommend Rose Garden to folks in this area all the time.

Mediocre at best. General tso's chicken should not be orange chicken with a little more spice.the sauce should be darker and shouldnt taste like oranges they make both dish's the same. they forget to add soy sauce with takeout. the only thing ive noticed that is good is the hot and sour soup. other than that, I am insulted that they think I am a moron and that i cant tell the difference between orange and general tso's. I hope to eat here later on and notice some changes. only the soup allows me to see potential in this place.

Yum!. I started getting take out from here when I was in college for lunch, a ton of food for under 6 bucks and it sure beats a greasy burger!

Worst Egg Fu Yung. First of all, egg fu yung should not have peas and carrots. It should contain bean sprouts, onion and meat (or shrimp). That's it. Next, the sauce is a horrendous, disgusting mess: it was not the savory brown sauce that accompanies egg fu yung: it was starchy and SWEET. Why? You don't put hoisin in egg fu yung sauce! It completely destroyed an already mediocre dish. Never again. It's worth driving to the NE Heights to go to Budai.

Very decent! Could use one more employee in dining area during dinner time. For the price you get a lot of food. I wouldn't say it is the best Chinese food but definitely the beat I have had in a while in abq.
Dave
Excellent, affordable Chinese food! Always fresh and fast. You can't go wrong there. I love the egg foo young and my honey loves the Kung pao chicken.

Very good. Gee, could the 01-12-10 reviewer possibly be a Heavenly Dragon employee? Actually, Rose Garden is very good - and I am not employed by it.

Best you will find in Albuquerque. Before moving to Albuquerque I basically lived on Chinese food. Once I moved here I realized that there was not a single Chinese restaurant that I would consider going back to. I tried the places that were rated the "best" in Albuquerque and came to the conclusion that I would only be eating Chinese food twice a year when I returned home for visits.
My husband came across this restaurant one day and insisted on going. I was extremely hesitant, but he was persistent . I was so happy I almost cried at the table when my food came. It was by far the best I have had in Albuquerque to date. Being skeptical of the consistency of the food (another problem I have come across in Albuquerque) I waited to write my review until I had eaten there a few more times. The quality of the food is pretty consistent. I am not claiming that this is the best Chinese food I have ever had, and would compare it to take out Chinese from other cities, for Albuquerque though it is great!
The service is really good and the waitress always recognizes us. They are friendly and attentive. I have never had to wait long for my food, refills, or check. If I lived on the West end I would eat there weekly.
I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Especially if you are a transplant craving decent Chinese food!

Worst food ever. I try it because of everyone said its good, but i spend 50.00 includes tips, but dont know what to said just bad, the orange chicken is too dry and hard, i got tire of just biting on it. and the chow mein i had, should i said is chow mein soup, so watery . the service what should i said, even know its slow, doesnt means my family should get treat like clear piece of paper, the server just text, and text on the phone, not even give us the care that we need, every time we have to call her over to give us refills, even so she would still decide to finish her texting before giving us a refill. awful service ever had. the cleaning so so. i am sorry, i will never want to go back ever. please reconsider my opinon before you guys make your decisions. instead, i have try the heaven dragon at golf course and paradise, totally different, the atmosphere, the service, the quality, and the sushi, is so fresh, and reasonable. it is just amazing, i cant even forget that taste ever, wow man, just too great to said anything, i strongly recommend heaven dragon, it is worth a try and revisit at all time.

GREAT FOOD EXELENT STAFF. This has become a regular meal spot for my family even though we dont live close to it. the 15-20 minute drive is worth it. we always get great service and wonderful food. we have tried almost everything on the menu. my favorites are the orange chicken(just enough spicy) and the hot and sour soup. i have eaten chinese food from philadelphia to san diego and this is one of the best i have ever had.

Fast and good. Rose Garden is very close to my house, and I have ordered take out from there quite a few times. Usually I get the combo selection, which includes a choice of soup and an eggroll, along with the entree.

The food is quite good, and always satisfies. My only complaint is that the spicy labeled items aren't always spicy, even though you can see the chilis that were cooked in the meal.

The price is quite reasonable, and just the fact that I can order and pick up hot, good tasting Chinese food in 10-15 mins, is a huge plus for me.

I would recommend Rose Garden to anyone. Give it at least a chance, you might make it a regular haunt.

Great Food, Good Prices. The Chinese food in ABQ is notoriously bad, but this one is different. It is more like a Chinese restaurant that you might find elsewhere in the country.

The food quality and flavor is good. In another place, I would say that it was a standard to above average Chinese place, but it is probably the best in ABQ. I have tried most of the places that have received decent reviews online, but this one is the only one that I actually looked forward to revisiting.

Best Egg Foo Young in New Mexico. Wonderful and attentive staff. You will love it!
