My dad has brought me here since I was very little. Their food has always been the best, with us little boys preferring this as our birthday restaurant over anywhere else. I always recommend this place to everyone! We’ve know the owners forever and they are super polite and wonderful. If you dont know what to get, the Chow Fun and Fried Rice (all with chicken) our favorite.

Delicious, I will definitely be back. They provide fresh made hot Mustard! Yummy!

It's a very good reasonably priced Chinese food diner. No gourmet stuff going on but the food is hearty, large portions, and tailored to its blue collar clientele. Comes out quick and hot, the waitresses are friendly and efficient. Good place to grab a quick bite at a good price.

They are alway so friendly the food is always fresh! And they usually have your take out order within 10-15 minutes

I went here because it was recommended by people on Google. It has a spartan look. I've been waiting for several weeks. I ended up getting the Combination Pan Fried Noodles. The dish didn't look good, but tasted wonderfully delicious. I also got the egg rolls which were ok. Personally, this place is one of the most authentic Cantonese Chinese Restaurants in the City of ABQ. However, the neighborhood has seen better days. The waitress was good at suggestion selling so I got the egg drop soup, egg rolls. This restaurant is your stereotypical hole in the wall restaurant. The decor is chinese and this place has the cleanest restrooms in ABQ. I loved the food so much that I ordered a Beef Chow Fun to take home. The restaurant is pretty well know. I only wish it were closer to downtown. This place would be one of the hip places in ABQ.

Fried rice was solid! Great flavor. Wings were delicious tasted like traditional Chinese wings. I would eat here everyday if they were on the westside!

Chens has been our favorite Chinese place for a long time. I absolutely love the Mongolian Beef combo with an egg roll and fried rice. My husband loves the sweet and sour. The egg drop soup is delicious as well! Food portions are good! Prices are no different than anywhere else now a days!

I’ve been here three times now the food is delicious or as I would say dank. Friendly faces always and great service. I got the Mixed Meat Fried Rice “added hot spice” this time with the Jalapeño Chicken and an Egg Roll. The portions are grand and I’m sure I will have leftovers for work lunch tomorrow. I ordered online and was able to use Google pay so that was really convenient it was ready in about 15 minutes. I will definitely return again it’s my neighborhood spot for excellent Chinese food. Tastes so good.

If you're craving a Chinese restaurant vibe like "that one place" from when you were a kid, this place checks all the boxes. The whole place gives you the "grandma's kitchen" kind of feel. Everything I had was delicious, however a word of caution: the mustard is not to be trifled with, I'd liken it to Russian roulette; some bites are delightfully (powerfully) spicy, other bites are "oh god what have I done", and back and forth.
(For the owners if you see this, don't change anything about the mustard!)

I forgot to say To-Go, so just had a little personal feast for myself. I have been coming here over 30 years. When I was young it was a special Sunday treat. Food is as good as ever, which is to say fantastic. Thanks for being a solid part of my edible life Chen's, I love you!

The food was delicious. My go to is the fried rice and the teriyaki chicken. Best place to get fried rice in Albuquerque. Everyone there is very kind and friendly too

I've been eating here for years. I love their food
Kara Skelton
Small place but the food is packed with flavor. Pan fried noodles with chicken is particularly delicious.

Best Chinese dish, and perhaps overall dish, I've ever had. The combo I special includes garlic shrimp, fried rice and sweet and sour pork. The garlic shrimp are very unique, not a sauce or paste like most Chinese restaurants. Instead, it's a mix of chopped garlic, scallions and other things I can't identify that taste fabulous. I've been eating the special for 20+ years and still visit Albuquerque for weekend foodie visits to grab some green chili dishes around town and Chen's garlic shrimp special. I highly recommend!

First visit here was at 8 years old. Some backstory: Albuquerque had had a massive power outage that day (for reasons I don't remember). It had been out so long that the food in the fridge was starting to get warm, microwave didn't work, and we had one of those old electric ovens that wouldn't work otherwise. We drove around town looking for someplace that was open for dinner. Every place we drove past had its lights turned off, until we reached Chen's that is. There was a moderate crowd, warmth from the restaurant, and the smell of food cooking. It was like an oasis in the Sahara. I think the 3 of us all ordered shrimp fried rice- a good consistency and huge portions. My aunt claims it is still one of her favorite places for lunch, but I've seen Chen's rapidly decline over the last several years. For the cost, you would think that the quality would be maintained

Best Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque. Been coming here since I was 2. My dad passed away in 1990 and I still have memories of eating here with him when I was a toddler. The food is amazing. Not a bad dish on the menu. We especially like the fried rice, the panfried noodles, the garlic shrimp, the soups and chicken wings. Try this place. You won't regret it.

Food is amazing. Always served hot, great service. Great prices. Orange chicken is to die for! I love Chens!

This is hands down the best Chinese Restaurant in Albuquerque. I love the service as well. You feel a part of the family eating there. It tends to be on the higher priced side, but is well well worth it, with big portions, amazing taste and friendly, quick service.
Sonja Codding-Aragon
In my opinion, Chen's outweighs all other chinese restaurants in Albuquerque. It is the only restaurant that I've found to serve delicious, authentic, chinese food. The service is wonderful, and so are the staff. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are plentiful.

Amazing food !! This is my families favorite place to eat!!!
William Thomas Worm
Always been one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, and still is super amazing. So long as I live in Albuquerque I’ll keep checking here
Alice Greager
Even though the restaurant is not romantic, it has some of the best Chinese food I have ever had and at very reasonable prices. Their combo lunches even include tea and soup.

Delicious and Nutritious! Very awesome atmosphere! Glad to find this spot!

We ordered the King Crab with vegetables but when we got home and opened it we had shrimp and vegetables. I called the restaurant back and the owner told me the staff was new and didn’t know the difference between king crab and shrimp. Well the price difference Is $12 so we had to drive all the way back in the rain to get what we ordered. Not happy! Second time this place has messed up our order. I Don’t think we will be back

Never call orders in. I asked for noodles instead of rice, charged me $5 extra per plate for the noodles, and they were hardly cooked wet noodles with absolutely nothing with them. No sauces, no veggies, no flavor. I ordered general tso chicken and instead got sweet and sour beef, also asked for sweet and sour pork, that was cold, and the vegetables weren't cooked. I used to be a very loyal customer, buying large family dinners, now I will never go back, and never refer another person here again. Worst service ever, the total for two lunch plates came out to $30 dollars, which is ridiculous considering one standard lunch plate is about $8 dollars, that didn't even include drinks or egg rolls!! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone again, they're thieves and liars. The inside is nice, but it's crowded. Please if you're reading this review take heed when considering this place, and only go at your own risk.

First time at Chen's....never again! I ordered shrimp pan fried noodles and chicken stir fry teriyaki to go. The shrimp tasted old, the noodles were oily and the chicken was tough. I took a few bites and threw away the rest of my food. I never had bad Chinese food until Chen's. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
Nancy Rogers
Expected good food..parking lot always full. And great portion for lunch special. ..great food and service.

Me and my boyfriend have been looking for a Chinese place we could both agree on. Needless to say we found it!!! Super good. Egg roll was delicious. We WILL be going back.
Kimmyeod
Another one off the list. Tried it, didnt like it...moving on. Small portions, average at best flavor and mediocre prices. "Best eggrolls" not that great people. Not. That. Great.

Fair. After reading the reviews, we decided to drive quite a long distance to check out this restaurant. The staff was pleasant however the food was just average. We did not care for the egg drop soup and the egg rolls were not very good either. I ordered the green pepper beef. There was very minimal beef and loads of green peppers. The flavor was somewhat bland. My husband ordered the pork fried rice. While they skimped on the pork, the fried rice was actually quite good. The portions were very small. I must say I was rather disappointed with the food, growing up near Chicago's Chinatown and after reading the previous reviews, I guess I was hoping for much better.

Best Chinese in Town. As an Albuquerque resident, I highly recommend Chen's. The food is consistently wonderful, and this restaurant has been one of my favorites for many years. They have great lunch plates, or you can order a few dinner plates for the whole table to share. I usually get the beef with broccoli, egg fu yung, egg rolls, terriyaki chicken, pepper steak, or egg drop soup: and all are very good. The atmosphere is very relaxed, good for families, work groups, or a date.
Javacocoa
Worst chinese ever. We had two chicken dishes and two beef dishes. The two chicken dishes looked and tasted the same and the two beef dishes looked and tasted the same. And the taste was not even good. And there were no fortune cookies! Worst Chinese food experience ever.
Devin
Worst service and food I've had in a while. The shrimp Lo mein tasted like ass and when I told the waiter I wanted something else he said he couldn't do anything because other people like it. This place SUCKS! Panda express is better
Monika Fox
Has been my favorite for over 30 years. And the fact that it's a family owned and operated place makes me smile. Best Chinese food in town. I take everyone I can here!!!
TheChaCha
Fresh crab Rangoon, tasty egg drop soup, and the meals are fresh and hot. Being from California, i'm particularly picky when it comes to Chinese food. This is my number one place and its a great place to get a quick bite when they're not packed. Love it!!!!

Chens is my favorite Chinese restaurant in ABQ. The food is fresh, tasty, and authentic. It's been owned and operated for more than 30 years in Albuqerque by the Chen family and the quality and prices are still spot on. I recommend Chens to anyone who likes good Chinese. Don't miss the fresh specials and crab raggoons.

I had always been curious, since every time I drive or bike by it is always crowded. Went today for lunch with partner. The restaurant is small and not fancy. It is about the size of a large living room with about 8 booths on 2 walls and a dozen tables in the middle of the room and third wall. The counter the staff use is in the back. The decor is Asian, of course. It is very clean and nothing is worn; it just isn't fancy. I had a combo plate with sweet and sour pork, chicken lo mein, and an eggroll. The portion size was large. The lo mien steaming hot, and had lots of chicken and vegetables. The pork was just crisp enough without being tough. There was too much sauce for my taste, but it was good. The eggroll was also just right, not overcooked. Partner had a combo plate of pepper steak, fried rice, and eggroll. He reports it was hot, fresh, tasty and also a generous portion size. He also had tea, which he reports was good. There were 3 other tables when we walked in, but were greated immediately. Service was prompt. Price was good ($8.25 for partner, $8.50 for mine, $1.25 for tea. We enjoyed lunch very much and recommend Chen's.

The best Chinese food in Albuquerque! Just found out today that they have been open for 31 years. They must be the oldest single owner Chinese restaurant in Albuquerque! To have a history like that means they are doing something right and it shows in their food. Everything is affordable and good large portions, enough for leftovers the next day. I've been coming for years and enjoy everything on the menu especially the beef fried rice, handmade potstickers, eggrolls, garlic shrimp, beef pepper steak, and delicious chicken wings. It doesn't look like much outside but comfortable and inviting inside.

Great Food, Great People. I recently moved to the Albuquerque area and was referred to Chen's for Chinese food. What a great recommendation. The people were very friendly and welcoming and the food was awesome. I love the Garlic Shrimp and have never ordered bad from their menu. Everyone should go to Chens as part of their Albuquerque experience, you will not be disappointed. I also found out that it is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Abq.... you can't go wrong with that kind of history!

The food at Chen's is Terrible!. I grew up eating Chinese food in Los Angeles where every few blocks has a good cheap chinese restaurant. I'm not sure why Albuquerque cant produce good reasonably priced Chinese food. I was hoping Chen's would change this but found myself disappointed. We started with won ton soup. there were no whole won ton's in the soup, just ribbons of overcooked noodles in a bland broth. We moved on to the the entrees and found the Kung Po had no spice/flavorless and both the sauce and vegetables were not prepared appropriately for a kung po. the lo mein was equally tasteless. the shrimp in black bean sauce was inedible. The portions were large but who cares if it tastes bad. Dont eat there.

Go Here for the food. The water tasted like they need a water filter system and deco well there was none. but the food. Mmmmm best hot and sour soup Ive had since Houston great egg rolls order the spicy fried chicken worth the 15 min wait oh and they change for soda re-fills

One of the better ABQ Chinese spots. The food here is quite good (and cheap), with the Lunch Specials being the way to go. Everything taste fresh, the sauces arent salty or syrupy. The quality of the chicken and beef is top notch. The only negative is that the Deep Fried stuff is kind of hit and miss, sometimes they cook it a little too long. Otherwise it great! This is my one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Albuquerque
Marie
My favorite Chinese Restaurant. I am so glad they are still around after many years. If I want egg foo young or chicken chop suey theirs is the best.
Chef Dare
I Want My Egg Foo Yung!. Unfortunately, Chen's is the last of a dying breed of chinese restaurant. The menu as well as the decor are a snapshot of a Chinese restaurant from the 1970's! But don't get me wrong, that is not altogether a bad thing! For one, the food at Chen's is more traditional in scope than anything that you will find at P.F. Changs or one of the trendier Chinese restaurants. In fact, this is one of the few Chinese place that still makes Egg Foo Yung...and does it right! Back in the 70's, most Americans wouldn't have known what Orange Glazed Chicken was, but Egg Foo Yung...everyone knew THAT dish! The rest of their menu is devoted to traditional Chinese dishes and the preparation of all of these meals is perfect. If you want more glitz and glamor with your Chinese food, go to one of those other places. Me? I will stick with the Egg Foo Yung and other great dishes at Chen's. (Note: Their WonTon soup is one of the best in the city as well!)
