Review Havana Restaurant - Albuquerque

A hidden gem! I came at 1pm pm Saturday. It was empty when I entered and it took a few minutes for someone to come out to seat me. If this happens to you, be patient, it's worth it. Lol maybe make some noise so someone hears you and comes out. It has a very home style vibe. The decor is actually much more "sit down" than I expected. But everything was tidy and clean. Food took about 10 minutes to come out. I ordered the Havana sandwich and rice and beans. The sandwich was fantastic. Crispy grilled bread with thin steak, ham, caramelized onions, tomato, potato sticks, and a melted mild cheese. Incredibly satisfying and very large. The rice and beans was lightly salted and rich with the flavor of the beans, a lovely complement to the savory sandwich. I also got a Cuban soda called Iron Beer which was really tasty, though very sweet. It kinda tasted like mixing orange Fanta and Dr pepper. They have some other regional drinks too, so be adventurous. Overall the food was fantastic and i can't wait to come back to try something else.

From the outside, you may never notice this spot. You might be skeptical. Please give this place a chance. A unique restraunt with quality food. There is plenty of space to sit and a semi formal decor inside. The Cuban coffe was amazing so was the Cuban cortado(contains milk). Cuban sandwich hit the spot. Huge amounts for the sides; we ordered Yuca fries and sweet plantains. Everything was full of flavor and authenticity. Be patient and don't judge the book by its cover.

Warm and inviting family restaurant with delicious food. My daughter recommended a particular dish but they were already sold out so we tried the pork fricasse. Oh so juicy and tender and such a huge portion we had to ask for “to go” containers. The sides were equally tasty. I will definitely ask to dine here during my next visit to Albuquerque.

This was my first experience eating Cuban food and it was soooo good! I had the palomilla steak with rice, beans, and sweet plantains. I also tried the IronBeer (like a fruity, lighter, Dr. Pepper) and Materva (like a cream soda), both of which were delicious. The steak was on the dry side, but I assume that's how the very thin slice of steak is supposed to be cooked. Paired with the grilled onions on top, the flavor was very rich and tasty. I've never been a fan of plantains, but the way they cook theirs has converted me! I believe they are lightly fried, not overdone, and the slight sweet flavor paired well with the flavor of the steak and beans. The plating of the food was nicely presented. Unfortunately the menu did not have descriptions of what the food was (just the names of the dishes), and since I'm unfamiliar with Cuban cuisine, I had to look up many of the items. Not a huge inconvenience, but it took some time before I was ready to make a selection. The interior is clean and bright with nice beach wood ceiling fixture accents. No one greeted us when we walked in and there was no sign to seat ourselves, so we eventually just picked a table and sat which didn't seem to be a problem. It was just one older lady serving all the tables, but she was very nice and our food came out pretty quickly. No complaints! I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

This is a fantastic under the radar restaurant with excellent food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I've been three times and have always had a good experience. Everything I've tried has been great, but my favorite dish so far has been the fried pork ribs (pictured), a special they've had two of the times I've gone. The Cuban coffee is spectacular, and the fruit shakes are great as well.

Delicious Cuban food! The place was nice and clean and the customer service was excellent. We had Yuca Fritas that were perfectly fried...sooo good! I had the Pork Fricassee with Congris which had a ton of flavor. (Pro tip: pour the salsa over the Congris!) My wife had the Carne con Papa that brought her back to her childhood in Cuba. I ended the meal with a Cafecito Cubano that was the perfect strength and not too sweet. Highly recommend eating here!

Lovely little piece of Havana. In a very small storefront location, but they even have beautiful tablecloths, wine glasses and nice chairs. All done in a relaxing blue. They even brought a chilled bottle of water to each table. It was a very cozy place, and the meal was very delicious and enjoyable.

Great Little authentic Cuban restaurant! Get your Cuban fix here with a variety of offerings and great tasting food. What really surprised me where the Tropical fruit shakes. They are the bomb! Can’t go wrong with any of them really. Portions are large for the most part and food is delicious. Service may be a little slow, but it’s worth waiting for.

Decided to try this Cuban restaurant based on other good reviews and it was very good indeed. I had the chicken fricassee. It was a special for the day and I did attached a picture. It was made fresh and had great seasoning. I do recommend and would be back. Even though they were slow at the time I went, and I know some people think that's usually not a good sign. I would still recommend to try it. 👍

Food: The food is so wonderful here I was hesitant to give a review because I hate to see this place get so busy that I woukd have to wait for a table to get a meal. Service: The service is so warm and loving you feel like you're eating at home with family. This place really is a hidden gem. Atmosphere: I've never had the privilege to go to Cuba but I would imagine that the decor of this restaurant represents what I would expect if I walked in this restaurant in Cuba. Very lovely. I always feel at home here.

I cannot express how good this food is. One of the best Cuban restaurants I’ve been to anywhere, and some of the best food of any kind I’ve had in ABQ. The two people managing the place are lovely and everything on their menu, from coffee to entrees to sandwiches to the sides and desserts, all of it is amazing. Really a hidden gem.

Beautiful atmosphere, old style elegance in table settings! Salmon was very good, plate set up appearance was perfect. The rice and beans together was different, unlike anything I had in Costa Rica, but I liked it.

This was an awesome find in Albuquerque NM. Definitely an authentic Cuban restaurant, these folks came from the same town where my cousin in law lives. If you want to try good Cuban food and an authentic one then I suggest stopping by. WE EVEN GOT A SAPOTE BATIDO!!! As far as the ambiance.....this is still definitely AUTHENTIC Cuban, NOT AMERICANIZED AT ALL. If you want to feel closer to Cuba then come here and ask them to turn off the air-conditioning. We don't have anything like this where I'm from.

Quiet. Only 4 of us when we went. We've only tried the sandwiches so far...very delicious and filling! Cuban And House Havana sandwiches recommended.

This quaint restaurant definitely has the best Cuban sandwich in town! And for sure the largest sandwich as well. Reasonably priced and excellent service. The Cuban coffee is better than any I've tasted. If you are hankering for a taste of this beautiful island food, beat feet to this location.

Delicious restaurant - definitely satisfied my Cuban cravings. Got the coffee, mango juice, yuca fritas, and Cuban sandwich, but I’m sure anything there is good.
