Review Curry Leaf Indian Restaurant - Albuquerque

We were in the area for balloon festival and were searching for best indian places to eat. This place showed up at 3/4 th place. I called them and made a reservation for 4. The initial interaction was very friendly when other Indian places were not taking reservations they took our reservations. We went to their buffet. It was fresh flavorful and had a mix of veg and non veg items. My favorite item on buffet was saag paneer , lamb curry and gulab jamun .Everything else was also really good. They serve fresh naan on the table and their masala chai was awesome . We loved the food service ambiance and atmosphere so much that we went back again to get food to go for our trip back to Grants where we were staying. I will come back again and recommend this place to my friends and family.

We stopped in while traveling through and Curry Leaf was so worth the little drive off the highway too. It was so good! Portions were nice. Everything was tasty! Service was great too! We had 3 main course dishes, chicken wings, soup and two kinds of Naan.

Our daughter and son-in-law were married in Ranchi, India in January 2023, in an elaborate, multiday ceremony. Because very few friends and family in the US were able to attend such a far-away wedding, we held a reception for everyone in Albuquerque, in May 2023. We tried to make it as Indian in style and flavor as possible, to show people what an Indian wedding is like. Our event space was decorated in Indian style, with a multi-color cloth backdrop behind the wedding couple, Indian elephants, and even a statue of Ganesh at the entry. We hired a woman to apply henna designs like in the traditional Mehendi ceremony. But our best decision by far was to hire Curry Leaf Restaurant to cater the reception. Working with Mr. Ajay Dhiman, we selected a menu of appetizers, chicken and vegetarian entrees, naan, rice, dahl, and a delicious dessert, rasmalai. Mr. Dhiman drove all the way out from Albuquerque to walk the event space in the East Mountains several days beforehand. We discussed where to place the buffet tables, whether there was room for one or two serving lines, where the appetizers could be served separately, and several other important details. On the day of the reception, Curry Leaf arrived with about five total workers to unload the food and set up the chafing dishes. They provided table cloths and serving spoons for the buffet. The set up was fast and efficient, and the buffet looked lovely (especially the antique style copper and brass serving dishes for the appetizers) and smelled heavenly. The quality of the food was simply outstanding. There was a mixture of dishes that were more mild in flavor, like navratan korma, and dishes with a richer flavor of Indian spices like karahi chicken and daal makhani. A particular favorite was the chicken makhani, or butter chicken, prepared Delhi style. And finally the rasmalai provided a wonderfully rich and creamy dessert. All of our guests raved about how delicious it all was. Throughout the dinner Mr. Dhiman and three servers from Curry Leaf paid careful attention to the buffet line and dining tables. They were smiling, friendly and gracious throughout. They kept all the chafing dishes full with fresh food, and collected empty plates from the tables in the dining room, stacking them in the kitchen. Some even circulated to pour water from our pitchers. This was all a pleasant surprise for me, since I hadn’t thought about the need for these tasks, but they did them anyway without being asked. Throughout the dinner everyone from Curry Leaf was unfailingly polite and gracious. Mr. Ajay Dhiman remained present to supervise, and to check with me for when to start serving appetizers, when to begin the main buffet line, and when to close the buffet and clear the plates. Once the buffet had ended and the guests were dancing to the DJ, the Curry Leaf team packed up all their chafing dishes and cleaned the kitchen thoroughly. They even packed up the leftovers from the buffet in aluminum food trays for people to take home. In summary, we had an outstanding experience with Curry Leaf catering our event, and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a similar service. Mr. Ajay Dhiman was excellent to work with, and carefully communicated with us throughout the process. He made insightful suggestions about the buffet set up, the number of servers needed, the timing of dishes, and many other topics. His professional attitude and steady reliability was fantastic. Overall I give Curry Leaf a five-star recommendation.

This was mine and my partner’s first time trying Indian cuisine so we didn’t really know what to expect but this was an amazing first impression! The owner was actually extremely kind and helped us make some decisions. The food was very delicious and the atmosphere was also very nice. We will definitely be dining here again.

The Gold Standard for Indian Lunch Buffet. I may not be Indian but i have tried just about every Indian place in Albuquerque and this one is definitely our favorite. Good choices, quality ingredients, great flavors, and very friendly and attentive service.

Outstanding service and quality food. The buffet was full of dishes that I like and the naan bread is phenomenal. Since this was our first time, the owner made recommendations that helped us navigate our way through the buffet. The tea was warm and delicious and desserts on the buffet were tasty.

We had a multi generational celebratory dinner with my 80+ year old parents who had never had Indian food. They were so gracious. Their staff helped mom and dad sample food to figure out what they wanted. Our food was delicious, service was spot on, and they made the evening so enjoyable. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

Hands down the best Indian Buffett. Always fresh, always generous and always delicious. Staff is caring, authentic and friendly. Eat and support local. Highly recommend Curry Leaf!

New to ABQ and this place did not disappoint in the least. Beautiful unique interior with gracious attentive staff and delicious food. I took curry to go and they gave me a small box of complimentary rice since we were out, “for enough for lunch tomorrow”. Couldn’t have asked for a better meal, depth of flavors and spices. We will definitely be back soon

It is modern Indian dining. The staff is very nice. The interior is great. You feel welcomed here. The orders are taken quickly and served hot. The food taste amazing. Ordered tandoori chicken was delicious, garlic naan was amazing, mysore masala dosa was so good, sambar taste great & so does chutney. Only thing didn’t like was fruit custard was basically mango pudding. Didn’t have any fruits in it. It didn’t taste right. But otherwise an amazing experience coming here. Highly recommend over other Indian places around.

I was impressed with Curry Leaf. The decor is cool, relaxing...on the elegant side. The incredible, delicious fragrance that hit my nose as I entered assured me that tasty things awaited me. My friend, Harriet, and I like to do family style and take home leftovers. We ordered Goat Curry Leaf, Prawns Masala, Bindi Masala and the Spring Dosa. Iced Chai and Salted Lassi were our beverages. Everything was delightful. Tender goat in a tangy sauce. Large shrimp cooked just right in the velvety Masala sauce. Okra cooked in a spicy stir fry style....no gooey or smiley okra...tender and full of flavor. The huge dosa (rather like a bubbly crepe) was filled with spiced potatoes and shredded vegetables. Sambal and a delightful coconut chutney were there to dip the dosa in. My salted lassi was seasoned just right...lightly salted and with a bit of cumin...just enough to make the drink savory. Carrier's iced chai tea was "very nice". The meal was topped off with Kheer and Mango Custard. Cooling, refreshing desserts to top off a great meal. The service was great. Smiles all 'round. Care was taken to assure the accuracy of our orders and the level of heat desired. The Curry Leaf is definitely going on our list for many future visits. Especially with the dosa, uttapam availability. Gluten-free is no work here.

The chef/chefs did a great job with the food. Very flavorful and satisfying. But the service was lacking and I was very disappointed at the service after a spill at our wobbly table occurred. After watching 3 men come and go, after this had occurred, not one of them bothered to take my soaked dinner away, or my almost empty sticky glass and offer me a new one. Finally we had to ask if they could take the unappetizing sight away. I had to try and finish my dinner with a orange sopping plate of food and nothing to drink. Bad service! To be ignored like that was insulting. Your staff needs more training. And not even a smile from the hostess. Not even eye contact. Maybe take out would be better, because I loved the food.

The first time I and my husband went here we ordered Indo-chinese ( Manchurian) and hence gave a 4* . Now that we have been here more than three times I wanna update my rating because , Everytime was better than the previous experience. We being vegetarians we had a lot of options in the buffet. The weekend buffet is delicious North Indian food. I loved the garlic naan. It had perfect crispy and smoky texture. The Wednesday buffet is a surprise indeed with unlimited Dosa and Idlis with 7 varieties of chutneys and tangy sambar. In the ala carte we loved their chettinaad Dosa ; the flavours were similar to a south-Indian restaurant. This is surely a must visit restaurant if you are a authentic south-Indian and a punjabi food lover.

Amazing Dosa's and Curries! A must place to eat! I was craving for Indian food so, went on Wednesday night for dinner and was surprised with the buffet line-up which included both South and North Indian spread. Fantastic place with great service and ambience.

Great food, really good service. We didn't wait long for a Friday night, especially considering the place was packed for dinner. Most diverse crowd I've seen in a restaurant in Albuquerque. Nice to see! Delicious food!

I found Curry Leaf by accident tonight and absolutely was amazed by the incredible food. The flavors were deep and there were so many vegetarian options on their menu. The staff was delightful and explained what I had ordered. I wish them all the best blessings on a successful restaurant!

It was really good. Buffett had a good selection. Only down side was the cilantro on the garlic naan instead of parsley. That was an unpleasant taste of soap.

From the time we walked in until we got our food it took an hour. They were slow to take our order and took orders of people that came in after us before us. One of those tables even finished their food before we got ours. The food was decent but an hour was way too long, especially considering there were only like 4 tables full when we got there.

The best South Indian food I ever had in Calgary, was at Curry Leaves in the North East, very delicious, also the price compared to others are the cheapest. Especially the waiters Lauren and Susmita welcome customers with a great smile. Thank you for your service. Samuel.

I brought a group of twenty here for a birthday dinner and we were all very impressed! It's a beautiful restaurant and super clean. We went on a Wednesday night when they had their unlimited Dosa buffet. Everything was so delicious! The wait staff were very attentive and were super nice about doing separate checks. I think I've found a new favorite in Albuquerque. Definitely check them out!
