Review Quesadilla Grill - Albuquerque

Megann H
Excellent food and atmosphere. Our server, Daniel was friendly and provided excellent service. The quesadillas were stuffed with fillings, not skimpy at all. The chips were still warm from being freshly made. Delicious!
Ruth Spurlock
We had some fantastic food-- chicken street tacos and a build your own quesadilla. The service was fast, and the food was delicious. The outdoor seeing and ambiance of the Old Town can't be beat!
Jose Arenas
There's no alcohol. But the food is really great. They got homemade chips and salsa.
Katrina Ward (Kat)
This is a fantastic little restaurant. It's owned by a guy whose family founded Albuquerque. The food is really really good and the staff is very friendly. This was an unexpected treasure to find. They also make their own salsa fresh and will sell you some. I definitely brought some home! I plan to return here soon and bring friends.

While I have yet to eat here, I did stop in for a few minutes to see the menu, look about the interior, and chat with a couple of patrons. The food on the menu looked amazing and the descriptions made my mouth water. The interior was beautiful, colorful, and had a nice lived in feeling. As I was leaving and admiring gorgeous outside facade, the son of this family restaurant steps out and places a "back in 15 mins" and closes up, after he leaves and I start too as well a pair of patrons walk up and after noticing sign sit in the shaded patio area. I inquire if they were going to wait because 'he just left', they explained to me that they were willing to wait because they had dinned here before and knew how great the food was. I thanked them and left.

Ate here in the afternoon while on vacation. Wait staff was shorthanded, so we had one of the cooks as a waiter. He did a great job! Food was outstanding, especially hand cut fries. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Old Town.

Went to eat there today and it was AMAZING! We got the quesadilla sampler and it was so good. Got so much food I couldn't eat it all. I will definitely go back. My sons girlfriend absolutely loved it, it was the first time she had eaten there. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. We sat outside and it was beautiful, leaves were falling all around us and it was just gorgeous!

Local guy here, this is a pretty good spot. We got the q burger, enchiladas, fajitas, and quesadillas. Good all round. The chilie had no heat at all (maybe the tourist would disagree) but was still flavorful. The service was really good (they must have brought us ten new drinks) . If I had to pick on them, it would be the trivial problem of one small bathroom, but it's an old house and that's normal. The best praise I can give them is when the guy brought us our chips and salsa, he told us it was his grandmother's recipe and that he made it this morning. Pretty cool. We will bring our guests here in the future.

As the name would imply, they've got quite the selection of quesadillas here! And my word, are they GOOD!! The restaurant itself is in the heart of Old Town, so there's already great ambience... They've got a great condiment bar for toppings, and the service has been top notch everytime we've been here! You should definitely try this little gem!

Great in-house made salsa and chips. Our waiter was the chef's son and was so nice and attentive. Overall an awesome place to grab good food in Albuquerque : )
John Thornton
A hidden gem. From moment we entered the service was attentive and helpful. The food was excellent and although no alcohol, it was a great experience. Would highly recommend for a leisurely lunch. Building had lots of history and character.
Pamela Kordenbrock
Stopped by on a whim and am very glad we did. The taco specials were delicious and very well priced. The chips and salsa were fresh and homemade. Great service in a cool setting.
Suzie Fowler Terronez
Great service and delicious food. Our waiter was awesome. Very friendly and attentive. He also told the story behind the restaurant....which I found very interesting. I loved the atmosphere and our food was perfect in taste, time of arrival, and portion size. I'm very happy that I found this place. I highly recommend a quesadilla and chicken street tacos.

My family and I tried to have lunch there. The hostess that seated us was unfriendly and acted as though she wasn’t sure there was seating. No one came to take any kind of order for 15 minutes. Eventually the hostess came and took our order. We waited 35 minutes or more after ordering and never received our food while others who had been seated and ordered after us got their meals. Our son went to see if we had been forgotten and was told our order was almost up. After waiting another 5 minutes we decided to leave. We paid for the drinks we had ordered. This was such a disappointing experience. We will never go back. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Julian Lopez
Great place to sit for 20 minutes waiting for water and chips and salsa. Then have the manager scream "well you can just leave then" as you approach him to complain. Keep up the "good" job
Grey Smith
Absolutely love this place! Philly cheese steak quesadilla?! What?? You will never leave here hungry.
Melissa Hendricks
Great food! Great service! We will definitely be back. Not one single thing to complain about. Our server was very attentive. The food was FRESH y'all. Seasoned PERFECTLY!
Tina Gearhart Wayt
Food is wonderful!! Beautiful atmosphere!! Great service!!! Very nice place!!!
Elise Magner
Great authentic food! We all enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the story behind it.
Robin Hochman Friedlander
Food was delicious but when we asked for ketchup for the fries, the waitress referred us to the fixings bar. There were only 2 other customers at the time.
Megan Billingsley
Im not a salsa person or one to buy something like a quesadilla at a restaurant, because they're so easy to make. This place has the best salsa and great quesadillas like no other! Went all the time when I worked in old town.
Ashton Gatewood
Amazing! Will definitely go again!!! Great people that own it and cool background.
Rebekah Romero
Best Restraunt Ever and the sweetest staff!!! Will definitely go here again!!
Jennifer Lutz
Love this place! Every time I drive through New Mexico, I stop here!

Love the Grille!!! If you leave hungry then it's your fault! I normally have to be rolled out of there!!!
Linda Malone
I love this intimate little place tucked into a corner of beautiful old town in Albuquerque. The service is second to none and the owner will come and visit with you. I can't remember when I enjoyed myself more. The food was great as well.
LaQuesha Jenkins
I stopped in to have a margarita after walking around for a bit. Atmosphere was bland, and the salsa was awful! But on the bright side, my margarita was excellent!
Karrie Shively
My favorite place in Albuquerque! I have to visit every day I'm in town! Great food; best quesadillas I've had, and so many choices!! You HAVE to get the fries!! :-)
Carmela Benavidez
Loved it! It's a fresh change to the "normal" old town vibe!!! You won't regret it! Fries are the bomb! !
Kara Hall
Wow! My husband and I found this gem just walking along in Old Town. It was fantastic! Great food, the atmosphere gives off a cozy, New Mexican, and homey feel, and the staff and service was friendly. PS: We had the open faced tacos and they were dangerously addictive!
Jamie Goodman
Arrived late, but staff was very helpful and informative about the menu. First time visitors to Albuquerque and enjoyed the carne adovada, which had a unique taste. Loved it!
Jodianne Lundmark
Amazing food the Hot Chocolate alone is worth the trip! Fabulous ambiance cozy fireplace! Owned by one of the original families of Albuquerque cool history!!
J Brooks
Loved this place. Visited from Houston. Family friendly I have a 1 and 3yr old. They offer delicious flavors a little off the wall for quesadillas. My daughter enjoyed her pizzadilla and the fries are fat fresh made. They also have a fry bar so you can pick your toppings. Great place in old town Albuquerque. Worth the stop.
Gerry Sheridan
Excellent Food, authentic dining area and atmosphere. Our waitress, Teresa, was great. I highly recommend Quesadilla Grille to anyone visiting Old Town.
Thomas Carranza
You will not be disappointed here! I ordered the ABQ Quesadilla. It was to die for! The quesadilla was flavorful beyond expectations! Paired with their own salsa, it was a great meal! Service was above and beyond! Do yourself a favor, and eat here!
Curt Huber
BEWARE! You will regret eating at The Quesadilla Grill. We witnessed the owner loudly belittle her own customers and staff at the front desk, the service was beyond slow despite most tables being empty, and diarrhea came on 20 minutes after eating.

They are proud of the fry bar which is just a gas station processed cheese/chili dispenser, condiments of ketchup, mustard, and room temp mayonnaise. Any 5 star rating is clearly fake. The best one I read was "I have not eaten here, but I heard it was good =5." They are surviving in Old Town only because they depend on a flow of vulnerable tourists as customers, obviously not repeats.

The salsa for chips tastes like Ragu marinara sauce.

The waiter was friendly though.
Leslie
This place was amazing! The service was great and the food was delicious! I'm definitely recommending this place to my friends and family.. my favorite part of all was the mango Margarita! I've never tried something so tastefull as far as margaritas go..
Kye Kammel
This food is great! The atmosphere speaks for itself with the friendly people around. We had dinner twice in 1 week here as tourists. Enjoyed it immensely ! Thanks urban spoon for the suggestion
Mike
Get the ABQ turkey. Green chili awesome. A slow warm heat that pushes this one over the top.

The Malibu is another excellent choice.

Friendly staff. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. 9.5/10 would green chili again.
Zac Allen
Absolutely the best New Mexican food. Incredible and family owned. Great history.

NOT FAMILY ORIENTED. Recently visited this restaurant. HORRIBLE experience. "The owner told us our toddler was being to loud" last time I checked this resturant was family friendly. Kids will be kids the owner continued to argue in front of other customers very inappropriately . I will not give this local business my business anymore and I will not recommend it either. The waitress was rude after the initial encounter with the owner. The salsa tasted like marinara sauce and our order was wrong. Do not eat here

"A HIDDEN TREASURE IN OLD TOWN". I found myself in Old Town recently looking for a good New Mexican restaurant to have some lunch.
Didn't want to go to the usual "Tourista" type eatery. So I found this quaint and cozy type restaurant at the end of a courtyard. It's name is QUESADILLA GRILLE at 328 San Felipe, N.W. Much to my surprise, it was not your typical Taco/Enchilada joint as most of the others in Old Town are. It was a cheery, homey type place that specialized in quesadillas. The menu featured everything from a plain cheese quesadilla to quesadillas stuffed with Carne Adovada, Chicken, Philly Cheese Steak, meatballs, burgers, mushrooms, bell peppers & onions, turkey, and even a breakfast "eggsadilla" filled with ham, bacon or chorizo.
We ordered some chips and salsa to whet our appetite. The Chips were hot and the salsa was soooo flavorful with a nice hint of garlic and oregano, that we opted for seconds.
My friend ordered some French fries as a second appetizer. When they arrived at the table, I couldn't believe how delicious they were. These were "award-winning" fries... They were fresh kitchen hand-cut potatoes and not your typical frozen variety. So good, we couldn't stop eating them.
Our entrée consisted of a delicious medley of Chicken, green chile, onions, mushrooms and cheese amply stuffed into delicious tortillas. For dessert, we chose some luscious hot sopaipillas and drizzled them with honey. This was a meal fit for a king. The owner, (Chaz) came to our table to check on our satisfaction and we chatted a bit and were surprised to learn that he had grown up in this very house that was later transformed into this restaurant in 2007.
Without a doubt, Quesadilla Grille is a hidden treasure where everything is fresh and prepared from scratch and deserves your patronage. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is authentic and our service was great.
Would I go back ??? You bet your sweet sopaipilla I would.
Mike Santullo
HappyPlate
Paper Plate Palace. This establishment looked promising and quaint, nestled in a side street of historic old town. The menu is limited but for a place specializing in quesadillas it offers a decent variety. The food is indeed served on paper plates...the drinks in styrofoam cups.. the salsa is in plastic portion cups and you are given plasticware. Everything is disposable. I overheard multiple waitstaff attempt to justify serving $12 plates in this fashion by saying it was due to the Balloon Fiesta going on, or that they were SO busy they didn't have enough plates to go around. However I strongly suspect if I went back in 2 weeks it would be some other excuse. Bottom line: they don't want to pay a dishwasher. The food itself isn't bad, a bit on the bland side. The nachos had gas station style cheese sauce on them (I actually SAW the machine through the kitchen door while paying my check.) The cheese sauce was cold upon arrival and when we informed the waiter he actually TOUCHED the nachos with his finger and said "well yeah, I guess it is", then brought us back the same basket (presumably well microwaved). If you're hungry in old town I would definitely skip this place!
Grazy321
Not very impressed and not worth the 89% of the likes not the money. Food served on paper plates, salsa was purée, guacamole did not seem freshly made, nachos had processed cheese. Just not what we expected in Old Town.
Marie Appleseed
Tasty. Good food and fun concept. However, for the price, it would be very beneficial for the restaurant to provide guac, salsa and sour cream with each quesadilla instead of just one. When you do pick one, it is very tiny and it costs extra to order more. It gives a bit of a stingy feel to an otherwise good restaurant.
Dan Imal
It smelled like an abused toilet inside and I was not allowed to bring my drink outside. The older red head woman working there was also rude. I'm assuming she may have been the one to back up their restroom. Will not be coming back to this porta potty of a restaurant.

Can't believe I have never been here before!. Our server Jessie was amazing! I saw the picture that was posted on urbanspoon with the pomerita with salsa and chips and I had to try one for myself. I was not disappointed! The mango one is to die for too! The french fries and the shredded beef quesdailla were delicious! I can't wait to go to old town again so I can have another pomerita!
Jake Cooper
Stopped here on a road trip to Sedona, AZ and were very pleased with both the food and service. It was the first meal we felt was worth the price on our trip. Thanks QG!

Food was great and the service was amazing! Way to go Jess. We love that the grille is still family owned. A must eat if you are in Old Town.

Wonderful Service, Location, and Food!. Stopped in on a Saturday night, decided to sit out on the patio because it was a beautiful day out. Got a shredded beef quesadilla that was very tasty. LOVED their french fries, perfectly done, not underdone, not crispy & burned. The fry bar was great, choices hard. The server was superb, very personable and very good at what he did. We will be returning in the future to try some street tacos!
Lizzy Washington
Worth a try for sure!. We came across this place today thanks to you urbanspoon reviewers. It was kind of hard to find if you aren't from here, but well worth the hunt. We sat outside and our server was a sweet young lady who was prompt and attentive. She was very understanding and caring.even though I bombarded her with a ton of questions and requests due to my sons diabetes, but she was great at answering everything and didn't seem frustrated at all. The food was outstanding and very filling. I wanted to finish everything, but it was a lot of food! The fries reminded me of the ones in Germany and my son loved the fries bar with all the sauces to choose from. My husband had the taco plate and I had a quesadilla. Everything was fresh and I was impressed with the overall service and food. Great place!

Some of the very best New Mexican food anywhere! The salsa is made daily and is one of my very favorites. The setting is beautiful and the service impeccable. Definitely a place to take out-of-towners.

OMG!!! Best Food Ever. My son had gone to eat here once before, and told me about this restaurant, and their soft tacos. He said mom I love your tacos, but this place beats them. Well I made the best tacos I ever tasted until I ate here. lol OMG!!! This place is the bomb!! You've gotta try it!! Foodgasm!! We shared the shredded beef soft street tacos, and a quesadilla. My son also had two orders of fries also!! Homemade fresh cut fries!! Huge fries!! All I have to say is Mmmmmmmmmm...I'll be back for more!! :)
Amanda
This restaurant is always delicious. I love the BBQ beef quesadilla and my husband likes the Philly steak quesadilla. The chips, salsa, and unsweetened tea are amazing. The only problem is the hours of operation seem to change a lot. We just found out that they are always closed on Tuesdays so we've learned to just call ahead before making the trek across town.
Steve
Nice spot in Old Town. Nice place tucked back in the quiet Poco Apoco patio. Even though the menu is all quesadillas, the ingredients make for a diverse menu. I like the Meatball Quesadilla. Prices are great, and the service is always cheery at this family owned business. Nice spot for families with kids, or if your tired of fried fare.

Eating at Quesadilla Grille is a delightful experience. With its serene Old Town courtyard setting, amazing food and warm, friendly service, Quesadilla Grille has become our go-to destination for lunch in Old Town. Seek it out; you won't be disappointed.

Great stop. Loved this place. The quesadillas were stuffed and the tortillas were tasty. I got the chorizo and egg, my lady got the veggie. Both were A+

We took the salsa and chips as our sides. It was impressive.

Service was great. We sat on the patio and were taken care of quickly.

They do not have their beer/liquor license yet but are to get it soon.

After you finish eating, go up stairs to the Santasima store. Full of custom dia de los muertos art. Its open till 10 30pm most nights.

What a great find in Old Town!! Everyone was so friendly and the food was GREAT! Look at the size of these fries!!

Great Good for great price. My friend turned me on to this place, I have never heard of it before, It hides in the corner in Old Town. They are very original ideas, some that you would never think of. My favorite is the Q Burger quesadilla, Fries come in a cute presentation. Love this place. I recommend this place if you are looking for something different.

Hidden Gem in Old Town!. I haven't been to Old Town for quite a while and decided to eat dinner at the Quesadilla Grille which is hidden in one of the corridors of the side streets of Old Town. I ordered one of the specials for the day - shrimp street tacos. I had the inside of the restaurant to myself and was presented with freshly made tortilla chips and salsa - the best I've eaten! I then received three street tacos served open-faced and lightly drizzled with sour cream (I asked them to hold the quac.) The blend of shrimp, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and a bit of chopped cilantro with salsa was superb and filling. I couldn't believe the more than reasonable price of $9.99 plus tax which included a Diet Coke as well! I am looking forward to tasting other menu items!
Rebecca T
Amazing quesadillas! The thick cut French fries are fabulous and there are an array of dipping sauces to choose from! So good!
Mark William Oxley
Great food! Awesome French frie bar and great tortilla chips! One of the few places I enjoy in Old Town. Service has always been great as well.
Kelly
Best Quesadilla place in ABQ! Love the atmosphere and the live music in the plaza next to it.
Austin
Carne adovado street tacos were great. Loved the patio.
Lisa Lee Fanalou
The perfect surprise. Perfect quesadillas that come as a surprise, the best tacos in the city, and the best service in ABQ! Been here a few times, all of the servers are great and friendly and fast and helpful!! Come in during the week, and you will have the quickest service. Fries take 10 minutes to make, but are great if you want to wait. No beer :( but they promised this would change soon! Try whatever the server suggests--- has never failed us!
CR
This place has the best quesadilla in town and at a great price! You gotta try it!
Tom Jones
Great restaurant. We stopped there with a crew of Boy Scouts after leaving scout camp and they were great! The food was awesome.

Marcia Secord
Favorite in old town. Since we've discovered the Quesadilla Grille it's the place we head when we're near Old Town. Favorite green chili and cheese with their fabulous home made french fries. Returning out of town guests request it as the first place to go for a meal.
Dan
Great food! The beef and pork tacos were REALLY good. The service was totally awesome, we showed up with our four children and were greeted
Graciously and taken care of. Don't hesitate to visit and enjoy the food!

Jim's 80th Surprise Party. Darlene and her staff closed the restaurant for my Dad's 80th surprise birthday party. She took care of every detail, the food was fabulous, she provided decorations and a wonderful sheet cake with ice cream. We had about 50 guests from all ages that said it was the best party ever!!!! Many guests from out of town were impressed with the cuisine and atmosphere of authentic Old Town Albuquerque hospitality and local cuisine. Would definitely highly recommend this for your next event! Kudos to Darlene and her staff for a wonderful event that my Dad is still talking about and probably will...into his 90's.
Mark
Fantastic place for lunch or dinner. And, our waitress was was extremely nice!
NMfan
Excellent service and even better food! Ordered the street tacos w the carne adovada - delicious! Three soft corn tortillas w just the right amount of cilantro, onion, sour cream, guacamole and cheese on pork filling. Very courteous service, and the food came out quickly. In old town - definitely worth a stop!
Crystal

This is the best kept secret in Albuquerque!!! Such a beautiful authentic setting and a wonderful menu choices!! The veggie street tacos by far supersede anything Ive ever had. I will come back over and over to settle my street taco cravings and sing its praises of authentic and delicious food to everyone!!! Hats off to Quesadilla Grill!!!
Rose Edenburrie
The Best Service and Food in ABQ!. I live in Tijeras, and have to come into downtown for work everyday, and on my salary, I have to try and eat cheaply. I found this place through a friend who says she had their veggie tacos and loved it, so I took my boyfriend and dog in to try it. The waitress came to our table with a dog bowl for water and greeted us with a smile. She let us order our drinks-- the "Easy-On-The-Misters" (Arnold Palmers) and asked if we would like them more or less sweet, and (quite enthusiastically) she told us about the Street Tacos.
We ordered the Carne Adovada tacos and, on her recommendation, ordered the Chicken Ranch. I got The Fry Bar and he got chips with his tacos.

We got the chips and shared them, and we discovered that the salsa was HOT. The exact heat that only REAL homemade cooking brings. She brought out our full meals soon after and explained that the fries took a little bit longer than everything else. No problem, we dug in.

Everything in our meals was scrumptious. Surprised, almost, we had almost finished half of our meals in moments. She brought the fries out, and, keeping her promise, these fries were worth the wait! When we finished our meals she fixed us up with to-go boxes for an extra set of chips for later, and sent us home with a smile.

Overall, GREAT atmosphere, AMAZING service, and EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT food!
Kyra Smith
I would say the quesadilla grille is one of the best restaurants I have been to in my entire life. The quesadillas are absolutely delicious no matter which one you decide to order. I give this grille 5 stars!!!
Marcos
Great quesadillas and tacos! With nice atmosphere and prices that did not break my wallet. Best bargain in old town hands down!
Mary Staak
This is a most wonderful place. I highly recommend it!

A MUST!!. My husband and I stopped here on a whim for an early dinner.. on the first day of our honeymoon! I can't say enough good things about this place. We stopped because the menu was affordable and the patio looked inviting with beautiful flowers, private tables in both sun and shade, and a nice breeze. I didn't expect the food to blow me away, but it certainly did. We were greeted by a very polite and friendly waiter. I later learned that the restaurant is family-owned and operated..all the recipes were family recipes, made fresh. When I complimented the homemade salsa, the waiter pointed at a family sitting across the patio, "It's my mother's recipe, she's right there." I always value family businesses, and this family seemed to take particular pride in their service. First item served was a basket of homemade tortilla chips and homemade salsa...I didn't think it was possible for such a simple food to be so delicious and fresh. I could have filled up on that. I should also add that I don't usually even like Mexican food. Next, we tried the fry bar...the fries were delicious, with many different sauces to choose from. A nice unexpected twist to our New Mexican meal. The best part was definitely the main course. I ordered a vegetarian quesadilla and my husband ordered tacos with shredded chicken. Both were TO DIE FOR! So flavorful without being overpowering. The vegetables and chicken were generously portioned, and very fresh and high grade. The meal portions were HUGE. We couldn't bare to waste any of the food so we stuffed ourselves and cleared our plates. Everything was perfect. It was heavenly. At the end, our bill was $17...unbelievable price for one of the best meals I've had. This is going to be a tough one to beat! We'll definitely be back at least once before we head home. If you're in Albuquerque, make sure you stop here!!!!!!
Risela
Serendipitous Surprise!. Wandered onto the patio of the 'Quesadilla Grille', on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! The outdoor seating is situated within a beautiful setting for all five senses and as we entered the restaurant the experience only continued; making one feel welcomed into a familiar like place. The attention of the waiter was unlike the norm these days in the fast paced, noisy restaurants.
Starting out with a refreshing drink of 'their' version of the 'Arnold Palmer' and was surprised by the lack of the syrupy sweet that you often get with this drink. Not one that eats dairy products I was hesitant about a quesadilla but settled on the 'grilled turkey with green chili, with chips and salsa' on the side. With the first bite my mouth was in 'seventh heaven'. WOW!!! The seasoning and blanching of the turkey, plus the flavor and heat of the green chili was dare I say perfecto! Not to mention the fact that the salsa was just like 'Moms'...not the sweet chunkie branded stuff on grocery shelves!
Will I be back? Absolutely!!! with family, friends, colleagues and by myself! Can't wait for that next tantalizing bite!
Julio Garrido
Awesome food at great prices. The food at Quesadilla is amazing. Everything is home made with authentic southwestern ingredients. The salsa is an old family recipe that has a wonderful blend of spices with the right amount of heat. I recommend Quesadilla to anyone who visits Old Town Albuquerque.
Isabella Soto
The Chicken Ranch Quesadilla is the best that I have ever tasted, and the fries are the best. The Carne Asada quesadilla was full of flavor (try it with mushrooms!) Our waitress gave us the choice to sit where we wanted and she was extremely helpful and even more friendly! The drinks were huge and the food was cheap. We will be back VERY soon to 'visit' the staff and munch some more!
Amanda Kay
Amazing adovada! Best I've ever had. The customer service was phenomenal. We will DEFINITELY be returning and reccomending!

Warm and Charming with Good Eats. First let me say, I do not usually eat in Old Town. My experience has been that the food is mediocre and over priced. Old Town eateries seem to rely on tourists for business and are less interested in the locals. Then I started seeing the reviews for Quesadilla Grille. Partner, I and a friend made the trip from NE Heights to experience what one diner said was a favorite. I never would have believed that it was possible to make a successful menu based on quesadillas. I was so pleasantly surprised.

Upon entering we were greated and seated by a wonderful woman who was working as host and wait-person. Orders were taken promptly and questions about the food were answered. The interior of this restaurant is warm, cozy, charming. It was explained that the hand-cut fries would take a little longer than the quesadillas. I hope that they work this part out. We all ordered meals that came with a quesadilla, fry bar and a drink. (Around $12 per person, though there were less expensive items on the menu.)

Friend and I got shredded beef, partner got carne adovado. The shredded beef quesadillas were the best! Crispy, hot, flavorful, tender beef. Diners can choose between a side of salsa, sour cream or guacomle. I got the guacamole. It was avocado-delicious. I would get an extra of salsa the next time. This might be the first quesadilla that I have had that was not greasy. The red chile on the carne adovado had good flavor but would have benefited from a touch of heat. The fries arrived a few minutes after the quesadillas. They were good, they were hot. I just wished that they were a little crispier. The fry bar-included, was not what I was expecting. When I am told there is a bar, I would expect more than a few condiments that include the standard ranch dressing and ketchup. I will say that the raspberry-chipotle was outstanding!
This was a very good meal. Really wonderful quesadillas. Reasonably priced for the quantity of food. I am glad that we made the trip and will do it again!

Absolutely amazing and bursting with flavor! The street tacos were incredible. I had the veggie and my husband had the chicken. Great food for a great value. We sat outside because the weather was so agreeable. Great experience.

Quesadilla Nirvana. I took my fiancée to this wonderful Old Town Albuquerque establishment, and was blown away! The quesadilla I had was the realization of a dream in hamburger, grilled onions, and cheese, all embraced within a delicious buttery grilled tortilla. When mingled with the delicious flavors of fresh hot corn tortilla chips and homemade salsa, a generous portion of fresh cooked fries with the fixings from the fry bar, and a man sized glass of sweet tea, this truly is quesadilla nirvana! I NEVER thought I would suggest going out of your way for a quesadilla, but this one is well worth the effort. I have now found a quesadilla that is a meal, and then some!

One of the best meals I've ever had!. My fiance and I stopped in Old Town on our way through Albuquerque, and I'm so glad we did! We found the Quesadilla Grille entirely by accident, and now can't wait to find another excuse to head down to New Mexico and give this restaurant another try! The atmosphere was quiet and laid-back, the service was great and very quick, and the food was PHENOMENAL. I highly recommend the chicken quesadilla and the tacos-- both have an amazing blend of flavors and textures that had me saying "Wow!" I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone fortunate enough to be in the neighborhood.

Delicious food, Great Service, Comfortable environment!. The food is delicious, the service was attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was inviting! I rarely come to ABQ but when I do, this will now be a regular stop!

Great food and service. This was my first time eating here but my husband and kids have been here before. It quesadilla was awesome, the fries were great. Fast and friendly service will definitely eat here again!!

Excellence All Around!. My wife and I came to the Quesadilla Grill on a clearly off-shift time on the recommendations of fellow Urbanspooners. We were treated to an excellent service, probably because we were the only people in the restaurant at the time - but everything about the food couldn't be faked!

The quesadillas were incredibly crisp and, because it was a cold day, my wife ordered hot chocolate - probably the largest cup of hot chocolate that has been served at a restaurant - and things continued in this vein. Large portions that are enough to split for a lunch meal, extremely kind waiters and front staff, and the general ambiance of the restaurant settled in old town means that w could not stop talking about this place.

If we ever return to Albuquerque, I know where we're going for lunch.
Samantha Worm
Best quesadilla I've ever had!!! Super crispy and delicious. The homemade fries are amazing. Service was good. Very friendly. Owners are awesome!!!

Stopped in for a quick look and was drawn in by the warmth and hospitality of this family owned restaurant. Grabbed the apple and cinnamon dulcedilla and it was awesome!
Such a unique and delicious approach to dessert. Can't wait to come back for dinner! Food is fresh and home made!
The Garcia family was very welcoming and the decor is relaxing and clean. The kind of place you just want to stay and hang out!

My expectations weren't high to start with and I still hated it. We had to hunt down a waiter to serve us. The fry bar was a joke. The only edible condiments were ketchup and mustard. I pondered the menu for quite a while and nothing was edible. My refried bean quesadilla was like dog food between two burned tortillas. Barely touched my food and still managed to leave with indigestion.

Outstanding!. If you are in or around the Albuquerque area and are not eating here, you are missing out! Fresh, honest food prepared to order and delivered to your table hot and tasty. Especially good are the hand-cut fries - they are huge, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, just as they should be. The homemade tortilla chips are excellent, as is the salsa. For entree, I had the street tacos (not on the menu yet) that were really tasty. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. I do not live in Albuquerque, but I will make it to Quesadilla Grille for a meal any time I am there.

Great place to go when your in Old Town. Good atmosphere. Small and quiet. They are closed on Tuesdays!

We had a great romantic dinner at the Quesadilla Grill. Service was faster then expected and the lighting and atmosphere was cozy. I had a philly cheese steak quesadilla with frys as a side and sour cream. It was excellent. My lady had a malibu quesadilla that was very interesting and tasty. I would recommend this quaint mom and pop shop to anyone.

Gluten free nightmare. I am an easy going and flexible diner, so this is the first review I've ever written. We went to the grill hoping to have a good place to go in Old Town Albuquerque. When my pregnant wife (who has celiac disease, and has a bad reaction to gluten) asked if she could have a gluten free tortilla, the waiter seemed accommodating. She then asked to verify if they would wipe the grill in that spot to ensure no cross contamination. We would have been fine with any response ("of course we always keep it clean", "we'll make sure to be extra careful", "sorry, we can't guarantee it"). The waiter then went to talk to the maitre d (who might have been the owner) to make sure this would be ok. She came out a minute later and accused us of insulting them by suggesting they aren't clean, and asked us to leave. That was certainly not our intent, and nothing in our demeanor suggested that. We were conciliatory at first but after she kept accusing us of being rude and asking us to leave, we accepted her offer. This person is unbelievably rude - I can't believe she can handle the customer service side of restaurants. If you have a gluten allergy or want to have a pleasant dining experience, avoid the Quesadilla Grille like the plague.

This is a great little place for top-notch quesadillas. We all enjoyed our meals tremendously, and the setting in a nice quiet courtyard makes it very enjoyable.

My girlfriend and I were traveling the historic Route 66 for our Spring Break last week and we found ourselves in Albuquerque for a few days. At her request we went to Old Town where we spent most of our afternoon. It didn't take long for us to get hungry and we ended up at the Quesadilla Grille. We walked in and was just charmed by the restaurant. Our waitress let us seat ourselves and we placed our order and began our looonnnng wait. I struck a conversation with another couple, Ken, and Shelia, who were also waiting for awhile. It turns out they were close friends of the owner and just raved about this place and all the diff quesadillas. I thought to myself "Well of course he would say this". Once I got my cheeseburger quesadilla and took a bite I found myself thinking "Okay...I get it". If you want a restaurant that will serve fast Mexican food go to a Taco Bell. If you want some damn fraking good food you go here. The chef takes his time to prepare a really home cooked meal. The quesadilla, the french fries, the chips and ohhhhh the salsa are just awesome. My girlfriend and I spent the whole time eating and having a great convo with Ken and Shelia. We ended our meal with a Peanut Butter, Choc, Ice Cream Quesadilla. The price was also very reasonable for the quality. We will deff be back.

Food is good. No website and difficult to get ahold of. Left messages on their answering machine. Have yet to have a return phone call. No hours of operation posted anywhere. When you do get a hold of a live person they don't even know their own hours. Food is good if your in the neighborhood. But don't chance it if your going on purpose.

Lived in Albuquerque briefly and absolutely loved this place!! Delicious and creative quesadillas. Their salsa is homemade and so good! My husband and I bought large jars of it as gifts for family (as well as some for ourselves). Spoke with the owner- really great guy! He told us about the history of the building and area, which was very fascinating! My husband and I still crave that salsa!! I have thought about calling to see of they'll ship it. Highly recommended!

Disappointed...tacky. Food wasn't bad; it's the fact that they charged an extra .50 cents for everything else, salsa, onions, etc. So a $10.00 quesadilla ends up costing as much as a fillet mignon. I did order a .50 cent side of sour cream and when it came to the table the plastic cup was half full of lettuce. The topper was the sign in the restroom that states, if you are not a customer it costs $1.00 to use the facilities and if you are a customer and haven't order yet they request a dollar deposit and will return it to you once you have placed your ordered. How awful! I hope the tourists that may dine here do not think all restaurants in ABQ are as tacky.

Everything is made from scratch. Great service and information from Clarissa. Fries are to die for. Try the hot chocolate to warm up. The turkey quesadilla with guacamole was delicious. Atmosphere in the historic building was charming

This place is great, my family and I live in golden,nm and drive down to eat. Fries are great, and the meat lover with corn tortillas and sour cream is good. Servers were good and the atmosphere was cool. 4.5 outta 5 for us!

A Great Place To Bring Out of Towners. This place is a little hard to find due to the fact that it's tucked away in a nook near the plaza (we could smell it before we saw it!). The restaurant is REALLY cute and a big part of the reason that I liked it.
The quesadillas are very good, although a bit expensive, (especially considering the fact that they cost like 30 cents to make at home). My quesadilla had carne adovada in it, and my boyfriend got the one with turkey and green chile. Both were crispy and delicious with just the right amount of heat.
I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the "fry bar", which basically turned out to be a ketchup dispenser with barbeque mayo and ranch in addition to regular ketchup. The fries themselves were big and homemade, but sort of cold.

Overall, I liked this place. It's cute and would be a good place to bring visiting friends or relatives for a casual lunch after walking around old town. You pay for the experience.

Hidden Treasure. This was our second visit to the Quesadilla Grille and won't be our last. It has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in Albuquerque. The food is amazing - never your basic quesadilla - even if you order the basic quesadilla! Tried the Hawaiian last night - fantastic! Ham, pineapple and red chile powder sprinkled on the outside - what a great flavor combination! The onion sauce is a wonderful complement to the homemade fries, and the chips and salsa are just another blast of uniqueness of this hidden gem in Old Town.

My hubby and I ate here tonight and he ordered the Philly cheese steak quesadilla. It was HUGE! He said it was delicious and only could eat 3/4 of the quesadilla.

I had the sombrero quesadilla - vegetarian with cheese, mushrooms, onion and green peppers. It was great and I couldn't finish that either. The guacamole that we had on the side was tasty.

The fries were excellent and piping hot, just how I love them!

This little restaurant is tucked away in the far back corner of the Poco A Poco patio on San Felipe NW. Right now it's hard to tell it's there, but we spoke with the manager tonight that said they'd be getting a bigger sign so the restaurant would be more visible.

If you are anywhere near Old Town it's definitely worth a visit! Go hungry and you won't be disappointed.

Great food and outstanding service. This place is great! The weather was nice enough to eat outside. At atmosphere in Old Town is so unique. I have never taken the time to review a restaurant but had to let others know how outstanding the service was at Quesadilla Grille. We had our daughter with us and the server placed her order right away so there was hardly any wait time for her food. We enjoyed looking at all the unique quesadilla options and will definitely be back to try something new.
Keith
No alcohol. They do not serve alcohol, so no margaritas with your quesadilla

Bad Ice Tea. Ordered ice tea and I didn't care for it..I asked our waitress for a diet coke and she told me she had to ask the manager. Wow, she came back and said there is nothing wrong with the tea and if I would like another drink I could pay for it......Thought the customer was always right.. Food was good.......management not so much!
Dave
Great Quesadillas!. We tried QG based on the recommendations on Urbanspoon... it was very good - worthy of all the positive reviews.
Chips and fries were hot and fresh. The kitchen whipped up a couple of vegetarian quesadillas at our request and they were great. Service was also very good.
It's nice to see some alternatives in Old Town.
I love the old Garcia house and the patio is nice on cool days. I'll be back for sure.

Closed?. We went there for lunch today. It was closed at 11:30 am. We called and got an answering machine. Left a call-back number but didn't get a call. Returned at 12:30. Still closed and still no return call. Is it closed?

Awesome!. My husband and I came here for the first time tonight. I got the Philly Cheesesteak Meal and my husband got the San Felipe Meal-Shredded Chicken Quesadilla. We got the Chips and Salsa and the Fries... We shared everything. OMG! The Philly Cheesesteak Quesadilla and Fries are out of this world. I will for sure be back and will recommend this place to everyone I know.

Awesome quesadillas, good service, cool style! We enjoyed it a lot.

Amazing!. I have been to pretty much every New Mexican restaurant in the city, and the Quesadilla Grille is something really new. The entire menu is quesadillas, and everything is great. I went with a friend who doesn't like quesadillas, and she is already telling me we have to go back! The place is pretty, the wait staff is friendly and nice, but the real draw here is the FOOD. Try the Breakfast Quesadilla with the chorizo. I'll be back every trip to Albuquerque!

Great Old Town find. I loved everything about this place. Excellent lunch spot. They do a great deal on a quesadilla, side (fries or chips & salsa), and a drink. Both the chips & salsa and the fries were excellent; the fries were like real British chips. My quesadilla was fresh and filling, the service was excellent, and the restaurant is in a great people-watching spot. Plenty of vegetarian options also. Highly recommended.

If you're in Old Town, eat here!. Everything on the menu is quesadilla, even the desserts! (The pb banana one was awesome!) The "nacho" chips for the chips and salsa are really warm, quesadilla chips, and the best part is everything was delicious! Our son, who doesn't like quesadillas, even loved his BBQ Chicken quesadilla. The sauces at the fry bar worked great to dip quesadillas in, too. The owner is very friendly, and the atmosphere, tucked away in a cute plaza of Old Town, is really nice.

Great Salsa. Great Chicken Quesadillas and homeade salsa. Very personable wait staff--you will enjoy

Yum!. Quesadilla Grille is now one of my favorite restaurants in town! The food is delicious, and the employees always make me feel at home. My favorite dish is the ranch chicken quesadilla - it has lots of crispy bacon and a great ranch sauce. I always order the fries too, they are cooked to order and you can dress them up at the Fry Bar (I always get lots of cheese on top!) If you are visiting Old Town, you have to try this place!

Quesadilla Grille Ole. Met friends for a birthday lunch at the Quesadilla Grille and was pleasantly surprised. The food and the staff were a real treat. Each of the 6 of us ordered different items and all enjoyed their meal. Heartily recommend the Fry Bar for some of the best fries in town. We will definitely return in the immediate future.
Bianca
OMG by far the best quesadilla I have ever had and they have a desert quesadilla too with banana and peanutbutter and it was AMAZING! :) stop by and try it, you'll love it!

Excelence. This place is a gem! We stumbled upon it, tucked in the midst of a beautiful plaza. I had the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla, could not believe how flavorful it was, hint of lime. My mother had the beef, which was so tender & juicy. The owner, Shawn & David made us feel so comfortable & welcome as if we were in their home. Highly recommend to anyone.

An Albuquerque must for Locals & Tourists (like me)

Great idea for a restaurant, and the food was great too. Had an opportunity to speak with the owner, who grew up in the building and later transformed it into the grille. Very nice guy, and good chef as well. Hope to visit again soon, but definitely recoend it in the meantime!

Great Food. After shopping in Old Town we found this great little resturtant inside Nick Garcias Patio patio called Quesadilla Grille.I tried the chicken Fajita quesadilla and my partner tried the Parmesan chicken Quesadilla, Whoa, what a Great taste! We never thought a Quesadilla could taste so great !. The fries were home made, and you can put these special sauces on them.My favorit was the ranch/barbecue.The best Salsa I've had in along time. Great friendly service. This resturtant is a Must. !

Great Find!. Looking for some place to catch a quick lunch, we saw the sign for Quesadilla Grille and thought we'd try it. My 14 yr. old son, who ordered the meatball maranara quesadilla just kept saying "hmmm, this is so good. This is the best place." He rather enjoyed the "fry bar" too, trying many of the offered dips for his fries. I appreciated the fact that they were willing to exchange tomatoes for the onions I didn't want. It was, admittedly, a very good lunch. I'm glad we stumbled onto it while shopping at Old Town. We'll definitely come again!

Yummmy !!!. Sightseeing on the plaza in Old Town Albuquerque and we happened to pass by this quaint little courtyard, on San Felipe and Church St.
QUESADILLAS WERE DELICIOUSSSSSSS !!!
The service was superb !
The prices were under $10 per plate.
The Jalapeno medallions were very good also.
Probably the BEST KEPT SECRET IN ALBUQUERQUE.
I am from El Paso, and I have had good quesadillas, but this place is PRETTY DARN GOOD.
Ken
I have been going to the Quesadilla Grille for six months. I have to say that this is my favorite place to eat in New Mexico. The food is always freshly prepared, and the service friendly. I personally go in at once a week and have never once been disappointed with anything. The nice, warm atmosphere and friendly company added to the wonderful food makes the Quesadilla Grille the best restaurant in old town.
Deb
Definitely recommend. Great service, friendly and loved the food. Phiilly cheese steak was great.

By Far the Best Value in Old Town!. This is the kind of restaurant that's always featured on the Food Network (Maybe they already have, I'll have to check it out). They tout to be the only restaurant in the world that specializes in Quesadillas. They have so many different ones, it took us a little while to choose. They have quesadillas I've never heard of, or tried: Philly Cheesesteak Quesadilla, Italian Meatball Quesadilla, a Carne Adovada Quesadilla, and something they call a Pizzadilla. If you like thin crust pizzas this is the one for you. And here I thought the only ones that existed were Beef, Chicken, Cheese--BTW they have those too.

It's located off the plaza (it seems the best restaurants are always off the main area of any touristy area). I had the "Meat Lovin" Pizzadilla, my husband had the Malibu (Ham and PIneapple) quesadilla meals. If you order the meal, it comes with the quesadilla, a drink and your choice of fries, Chips and Salsa or fried Jalapeno coins.
I got the best fries ever, and my husband got the individual order of chips and salsa. I have never tasted a salsa like this one before anywhere else in NM--it was delicious. The Pizzadilla tasted just like a meat lovers pizza from Pizza Hut. My husbands Malibu Quesadlla was dusted with red chili powder and very tasty. I had a Dr. Pepper in a large glass (free refills, woo hoo) and my hubby had the largest cup of coffe (cafe grande) we ever got at a restaurant. We will have to bring the kids next time, since they have a kids menu. It's very cute--a mini version of the regular sized meal.

Our waitress took very good care of us. The food took a little time (there were about 4 other tables full around us), but it was well worth it. I was told that the food is made to order (nothing sits around and waits to be eaten--and that the owner was the ONLY cook back there and was preparing everything)! The quesadillas were crisp (not like those soggy ones that flop over in other restaurants), and were very delicious!

There are many restaurants in Old Town that are extremely over-rated (just read some of the reviews for these big named restaurants on this website and you'll see what I mean). Tourists and locals go there because they have been around forever. Unfortunately, their food has gone by the wayside, it's not what it once was, when the food was at its best. It's nice to find a new restaurant that prides themselves in good food, service and value! The Quesadilla Grille is a true Jem in Historic Old Town! I will return with more friends to experience.
Drac888
Philly Cheesesteak Quesadilla!. Excellent! Great take on a Philly. New Mexico it up by adding Green Chili or Jalapenos!
Amanda
The chips and salsa were the best part. The chips were homemade and piping hot, and the salsa was smooth and flavorful.
Gil
True to the restaurant’s name, quesadillas are featured fare, but these aren’t dang quesadillas to be eaten only when you run out of steak. Shawn Mondragon has concocted an inventive menu in which the quesadilla is all it can be. There are a lucky thirteen different quesadillas on the menu with variations available on several of them. Perhaps in recognition that in modern America a quesadilla alone might not make a meal, all quesadillas are accompanied by a trip to the “fry bar” and a drink unless you prefer an a la carte quesadilla.
