Grille At 138

Our party of 6 ate here on a Saturday night. The food, service and drinks were all excellent. Apparently they were short staffed, but our service was superb. Our food was served quickly and came out as a unit, which is nice when dining with a group. The fried onion ring appetizer was tasty with a nice dip. The entrees ranged from veggie bean burgers (which can be substituted for any meat burger on the menu, nice for the vegetarians), to hamburgers to salmon encased in a puffed pastry. Everyone seemed quite pleased with their meal. The salads were fresh and tasty. I also had coffee which was good and a delicious dessert, which the others had to help me finish! A very pleasant experience.

Had one of my worst restaurant experiences EVER today for lunch at the Grille. Its embarrassing that GRILLE is in the title yet the chef was clearly incompetent at making simple burgers. One was very raw and the other so well done there was no taste left. It was a complete disaster, with the Manager ignoring us and our problems and both he and the waiter arguing with us over how good/bad or normal the food was. We have both eaten there together and separately many times and hosted work events at this place and never had an expereince quite like it. The waiter had the nerve after an hour to bring us a bill for a meal that was pretty much inedible for the both of us - I only wish I had thought to take pictures to share with all of you. Instead of apologies we got jokes and blame for complaining or not sending back. Well when it took 45 minutes to get the first set of burgers and we get an hour lunch we don't have another 45 minutes to wait for a replacement! As it was I had asked for sauce to go on the burger and that took more than 15 minutes and put us at 1hr 10min for LUNCH and received it after asking for the check saying we couldn't eat any more of it. CRAZY. I understand that things can happen in a kitchen, but the success of any restaurant hinges on the ability of ones front of house to handle it and make sure people leave satisfied or willing to give you another try. Very disappointed and only wish the owners had been there to manage this catastrophe.

In October: This is a very nice spot with old school menu and a good bar. The staff is lovely and the food is good. The Sunday brunch is also good. It's a great addition to the neighborhood adding a continental style cuisine to all the other ethnic restaurants. It fills a much - needed niche!! In November: This restaurant seems to have lost it. My last couple visits the staff is still great but the food is just plain poor quality. I mean, a 15 year old wouldn't be letting the dishes I've been served out of the kitchen. I'm very sorry to say that they haven't been able to keep up their good early showing. *sigh*

Wonderful find. Food was delicious, fresh and servings were bountiful. Waiter (Mitchell- hope spelling is correct) was engaging, courteous and very attentive. My family was hoping to go to another restaurant that had closed and we wandered in to the Grille not knowing what to expect. GREAT experience.

I work across the street from this place and decided to give it a try. I walked in around 12:30 and it was completely empty should have got the hint and kept walking. Anyways I ordered the grill138 burger medium done when I received it was good until I got to the center it was completely raw beef! When I brought it to the waiters attention he brought it back and basically recooked the small center and brought it back... At that point I just asked for the check and left. Not sure what kind of clown is running this place but I won't be back.
