This is a great place to just have breakfast or maybe a late lunch. The prices are reasonable. Staff was friendly also. I didn't give the atmosphere five stars because really it's just no frills restaurant. I can recommend the ham and cheese omelette and pancakes.

I go there for the breakfasts, my wife loves the soups. The skillets are fantastic, I've eaten at almost every restaurant in Waukegan, Zion, and Kenosha. And quite a few in Libertyville and Racine. El Lago stands Head and shoulders above almost all of the restaurants I've eaten at as far as breakfasts go. Their skillets have amazing flavor, and, I will share this. I had gotten an emergency call to pick up our granddaughter right after we ordered food. My wife stayed, I had to leave and get her, I came back an hour later. They made me a whole new breakfast because mine was cold. At no charge! They didn't have to, but they did. That sold me on them forever.

Been here several times for lunch & dinner. Fresh tortilla chips served with cheese sauce & salsa for your pre order are really good. Tamales with rice and beans dinner is tasty & the mini chimi-chongas are delightful. I got a big container of Pazoli to go & they serve it with the chopped cabbage and radish for garnish. (Pazole & Manolo are only available on the weekends) lovin the Pazole

Green enchiladas we're good and horchata was delicious 😋. (Not too sweet which I prefer) some places have their horchata super sweet :(

Good food especially for the price. We were there after Navy PIR as we wanted to get further away from the graduation crowds. The food came out quickly and the ladies there were really nice.

The staff ND service is great. The food quality is average at best. The place is a little run down but not terrible. We will return there to dine but not often.

I went in to order take out only , But while waiting inside I noticed how nice and comfortable El Lago is and the Staff was very friendly and my order was ready in a reasonable amount of time. The food was delicious and plentiful. I had the Mini Chimichangas and a chorizo's Torta Yummmm and next time that I'm in town I'm eating inside.
