Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

I normally love this place. But the last time we went, it was a disaster. Our first date night in months. We sat at the bar, bc it was a mostly bare room. A huge party of people sat next to us, stood behind us, crowded half of the room. Several people were coughing, but nobody was asked to leave, despite their sign on the door disallowing this. On top of that, my husband's steak was incredibly chewy and the broccoli fell apart, as though it was microwaved for far too long. We didn't even finish our meal, tabbed out, and left. On top of the negative food experience, we no longer feel safe there. Nobody was sectioning off seating. While the staff was wearing masks, one of them, an older gentleman who seemed to be a boss of some sort, was coughing heavily over people's drinks, furthering the anxiety of the situation.

An awesome experience start to finish. Great warm croissants to start with, fast consistent service throughout, and the food was spectacular. I had the 8oz sirloin medium with fries and a house salad. I don’t think I’ve ever finished a salad in my life until today, the steak was perfectly medium throughout with enough seasoning and juice in the steak that it would be a sin to put any sauce on it, just eat it as it is. The other dish was the Buffalo chicken wrapper and it was a flavor explosion big enough for 2 people. I would normally shy away from pickles and cabbage in anything but I was urged to try a bite and it was so good I just may get it next time we visit.

Nice facility always very clean and the staff is very friendly. We have been there a few times and it always seems that there is some issue with our meal or the staff. I think they are trying really hard but I just cannot give them a five star rating. I believe the food is adequate and the price is fair… But it’s just not a five-star restaurant in my opinion sorry.
