Tonight my boyfriend and I dined at the Prince and the Pauper on their opening night of the outdoor patio space. Upon first impression we noticed the charming area with five outdoor tables, surrounded by beautiful raised beds, bistro lights and the outdoor patio heaters which not only provided ambience but also warmth for the chilly VT evening. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive throughout the evening. The food was prepared to our liking and the taste exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend the Prince and the Pauper to anyone looking for a first class dining experience in Woodstock, VT.
Best place for dinner in Woodstock, make sure you secure a booth to get ready for a great dining experience 👍 Pork tomahawk and halibut were perfect!
Good locally sourced restaurant that specializes in seasonal fare along with american bistro classics. Good service with a home-like feel - very much like an old inn. Pics are of steak frites and french onion soup, both were good (maybe 3.5 stars if I were being generous). The ice cold butter atop the steak was a turn off. Dessert was great, chocolate ice cream puffs (5 stars).

What a pleasure to eat in a local restaurant that caters to the vegetarian diet - I enjoyed sweet potato chickpea cakes and was blown away. Great change of palette from the usual bean burgers, risotto, or pasta. Highly recommend either for both vegetarians or otherwise! Would not hesitate to return for this dish only.
My favorite dining spot in Woodstock. Great wine list, perfectly crafted menu, wonderful chefs. Always a pleasure!
During our mini-vacation in Vermont last summer, we visited this spot, highly recommended by relatives. A reservation is required, and they are SUPER popular. So, make sure to book a reservation 2-3 weeks in advance.
Since we made our reservation late (which was still 2 weeks in advance!), and we were lucky enough to get their last reservation available, at the bar counter. The bar was really beautiful, made with an antique wooden bar.
We started off with “Made in Vermont” cocktail section of the drink menu, and ordered Not-So- French Martini, and Maple-tini. Our bartender/server for the evening, Tracey, made our drinks and gave us the excess in small shakers. It had enough for a second glass! Thank you! The drinks were strong and flavorful, really nice!
We did Prix Fixe Menu. For the first course, we chose House Smoked Salmon and Count Neck Clams, both simply delicious. What an amazing start! Second course was a House Salad, super fresh and tasty. For the third course, we had Oven Roasted Atlantic Cod, and Carré d’Agneau Royale. AMAZING. They were both packed with flavor, fireworks going on in my mouth good.
Everything was so great, we couldn't just end there. So, we ordered Vienna Coffee with Irish Whiskey with some dessert. We sure how how to live! We ordered Vermont Cheesecake and Pistachio Milk Chocolate Dacquoise. The cheesecake is to die for. Oh. My. Goodness!
Needless to say, we had a wonderful time here. Everything we had was great, from the first drink to the last bite. Tracey took a great care of us the entire night, we feel like we had more fun sitting at the bar instead of at a table. This was the best dining experience we had in Vermont, and we will be sure to return for more the next time we visit Vermont!
