Vanilla Sugar Bakery

I saw the bakery sign and quickly parked the car. Upon entering, I saw that the bakery cases mainly held cookies, bars, and cupcakes. Not a huge variety, and more specialized with huge sandwiched cookies, macarons, large bar cookies. I opted for a Raspberry crumb bar and a chocolate cherry macaron decorated to look like Santa's belly. The bar cookie was huge; about 4" x 5". It had a deliciously crisp base, and you could taste the butter. It was filled with a thin layer of jam and a lovely crumb topping. The macaron was another story. The cookie itself was great. Light, airy, and crisp. The filling, however, tasted like white wedding cake frosting. It totally overpowered the macaron base. Made my teeth hurt. Total regret. I'd be interested in trying the cupcakes.

I am absolutely delighted with my experience at Vanilla Sugar Bakery. We ordered a unicorn cake for our daughter's birthday, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The cake was flawlessly designed and tasted absolutely divine. We were so impressed that we have already decided to return for our next special occasion that calls for a cake. The bakery consistently creates stunning masterpieces that not only look gorgeous but also satisfy the taste buds with their delicious flavors. In addition to the amazing unicorn cake, I recently placed an order for cupcakes to celebrate my eldest daughter's graduation party. I must say, they were nothing short of phenomenal. The chocolate pie cupcakes and the wedding cake cupcakes were absolute delights. The flavors were rich and indulgent, leaving everyone at the party wanting more. Vanilla Sugar Bakery continues to impress me with their delectable creations, and I highly recommend them for any sweet treats you may need.

First, the cupcakes were absolutely delicious. We got a variety and loved every single one of them. Second, I failed to check what time they close on the day I scheduled for the pickup. When I called in a panic - 10 minutes after they had already technically closed - someone actually answered and said they would be there for a bit longer and that I could still come pick my order up. I rushed to the shop and they were super friendly, despite me probably being a total inconvenience. It was my daughter’s first bday party so this was a really special order, and I’m just thankful they were so cool about everything. Now I’m eyeing out their cakes for our next event as they look absolutely beautiful online.

Vanilla Sugar Bakery is absolutely wonderful. My husband and I had a small Covid wedding, and opted to get a basic cake and just use it as a wedding cake. They had it ready for us early, and it looked and tasted wonderful! Everyone loved it, and we will definitely be back to try more tasty treats when things get back to normal in the world.

I have been a loyal customer of VSB for probabyears. I started going to VSB at their old location in Winfield. I don’t eat many sweets and am particular when I do, but I can’t say enough about this lovely place. Every single item is made completely from scratch. In fact, they ruined all other cakes, cupcakes, scones etc.. for me because now I can tell the difference from prepackaged ingredients to completely made from scratch. Every party I have and my friends have, we order a custom cake or order mini cupcakes (which I love). Growing up in the Wheaton area, this bakery really gives me a taste of home. I love the owners and appreciate how they always accommodate my requests and handle everything with the utmost professionalism. Also the consensus from all my referrals. My family owns a business in Glen Ellyn and any event we have we make sure we have VSB goodies out. I just had some for my virtual Covid bday zoom party for a friend! This is the type of business I like to support. Real people, hard workers, real food and amazing tasting everything.
