Steak 'n Shake

The first place we went had closed their dine in area for the night. (It was 6:30 on a Saturday night) Steak n' Shake wasn't where we orginally planned to eat, but I'm glad we ended up there. We were immediately greeted and the staff gladly pushed together chairs and tables to make room for our party of eight. It was my sons birthday. Whatever you're doing keep it up. Thank you for being so kind!

I have eaten here before and have always had a pleasant experience. Today, I had my usual...a grilled chicken sandwich and a bowl of chili. It was literally less than five minutes from the time I placed my order until the food arrived at my table. The server, Abby, did a fabulous job in ensuring I had everything I needed. If you’re looking for a great meal, at a low price, look no further than Steak n Shake in Winchester.

I have attempted the drive thru twice. The first time they couldn't make shakes.......the second time I waited in line for several minutes and they gave our food to the car in front of us. Obviously due to Covid, the food had to be trashed and we had to wait several more minutes for new food. They don't have dine in currently, so it's even more frustrating that they can't get an order correct.

Only part of my 30 dollar order they got right was the drinks. Drive through clerk was pleasant enough but I should have know I was in for trouble when had to get a manager to run my debit card. I played 30 bucks for two hamburger ( plain hamburger) meals and chicken fingers. Would have taken it back but I was already on the interstate when I noticed. I'll not stop there again.

Third time's a charm...or something. Two previous visits were much less than desirable, so we decided to try ONE MORE TIME! This visit was much better than previous efforts. Food, mostly, was really good. Great thin-cut fires, great bacon burger and a good value for the money at $3.99. Should have stopped with the burger and fries, but then I added a bowl of chili since it was a very cool spring night. Big mistake! Texture of the chili looked a.day or two old. It came back to visit me in a most unsociable way within half an hour. All things considered, this location is improved. Service was extremely good, the server courteous and efficient. Hopefully, it will continue to improve.

I usually don't have a bad experience at this steak n shake, but they really screwed up this one time.. Gave our orders to someone else, gave us there's, and had to go back in the drive thru to tell them and wait for them to remake ours. They give us our order, we go home 5 minutes from the restaurant and the burgers are already cold and they made them completely wrong!! Extremely unprofessional. I've worked in the fast food industry and there is no excuse..
