Checkers

We randomly saw Checkers as we were heading out of Wilmington and had to stop and reminisce. There were a few in Winston-Salem back in the early 2000's that I went to all the time as a kid. The fries are still as good as I remembered them. The facilities and building at this location could be fixed up a bit better though.

Prepare yourself for an utterly exasperating experience at Checkers. From the moment I set foot inside, I was bombarded with a cacophony of disappointment that left me longing for the peaceful sanctuary of my beloved bird watching escapades. As I perused the menu, my eyes were assaulted by an overwhelming selection of greasy, uninspiring fast food options. It was as if they had taken all the creativity and finesse that I admire in the avian world and tossed it out the window. Where were the vibrant colors, the delicate patterns, and the awe-inspiring beauty that I find in the feathery creatures that grace our skies? The lack of attention to detail continued when I approached the counter to place my order. The employees seemed more interested in hurriedly slapping together sloppy meals than in taking a moment to appreciate the subtleties of flavor and presentation. It was a stark contrast to the patience and precision required in bird watching, where every movement and chirp holds significance. And let's not even get started on the taste. The burger was a sad excuse for sustenance, lacking any discernible character or depth. The fries were a limp and lifeless disappointment, devoid of the crispy satisfaction I seek in my culinary endeavors. It made me yearn for the delicate notes of a melodious bird song, a symphony that uplifts my spirit with each sweet note. But alas, amidst the sea of mediocrity, a silver lining emerged. In the midst of my frustration, I was reminded of the tranquil solace that my bird watching hobbies bring me. Checker's is one of my favorite fast food restaurants. I love their Baconzilla Combo 🍔🥓, it is really Good and about the only reason why I love going there, that and their Seasoned Fries 🍟.

I don't like the idea of people hanging out in the parking lot. But the food and service were great!

I moved to Texas 20 years ago. When I saw a checkers I knew I had to have a burger. I was pleased with the promotion on double cheeseburgers. The staff was efficient but seemed like the attention was divided. The burgers were prepared the way I asked and were very tasty. I'm glad I stopped, the experience was how I remember it. I'm in town for a visit a few days I may stop by again.
