my second review for penders café. I am always looking for the best burger s I travel up and down the east coast in the marine industry. the best burger so far was rated an 8 in Eastchester ny at pipers kilt. but a close, very close second now is the pender burger. I tried one today and it was fantastic. cooked med it was two hand pound patties that were juicy to the last bite. plenty of sides to add too. and the cheese, I would have liked chedder. was American and they didn't skimp on the amount. very cheesy. the fries were crinkle cut and cooked just right and the best was they were to hot to eat as fries should be. A+++ to penders and we will be back...

A local gem. Same owner since 1977 who can share a lot of history of the local area. Menu is simple and takes you back to an earlier time frame. Restaurant is nicely decorated with Coca Cola items from the past. We ordered the breakfast special (see photo of their signboard). Items came fast and hot. Good breakfast with simple pricing. The old school lunch counter will take you back to earlier times and you can have great conversation with waitstaff and cooks. Booths are nice and reserved for parties of two or more. Check out the original tin plate ceiling and the designs. How many restaurants today can you find friend bolangi sandwiches!

Owner is so sweet. Very down home atmosphere. It's a small eatery. Food was good, prices were reasonable. They were short staffed so there was a small wait but only a few minutes. The food was worth the wait. Drop in for a quick bite.

Super delicious & juicy cheeseburger with mustard & sauté onions, lettuce and tomatoes. Big, fat, crunchy french fries. & 's medium coca cola. Or sweet tea. Excellent price $7.69 total

Love this place. Friendly service. Good old school burgers and onion rings. It's like stepping back in time and that is a great thing.

I am a new resident to town and have been making my way around to the locally owned spots. I popped in for lunch and had the most delicious cheeseburger! I ended up adding on hushpuppies, which were also delicious. The diner is a step back in time and absolutely adorable with counter and booth seating. My burger came with fries and homemade sweet tea, which was very refreshing. The owner was kind and invited me back. I told her the next time I am in, I am getting the fried apple pie and ice cream!

Great place to grab a real hamburger. Good food, good service, clean place. For a taste of a bygone era, check this place out.

The BEST burger in town. This place has been around for over 70 years and it’s easy to see why. Sit down at a booth or grab a seat at the counter and you’ll fall in love with the staff of this family run business as well as the food. The pender burger is always my go to, but there’s a variety of quick comfort foods to choose from. Be sure to say hello to Mrs. Pender behind the counter!

Excellent cheeseburgers made to order that left me with a need to order 3 more to go. If you enjoy a small atmosphere, friendly service, and the absolute best burger Wilmington has to offer, this is your place.

They make individual glasses of lemonade right there behind the bar! Oh and it’s delicious.
