REALLY cool place and good teaching opportunity for kids. Family friendly, good food, and roaming musicians made for a vet nice experience.

Turkey day.. It was our turn to host Thanksgiving this year. Since it was our first here in Williamsburg we thought it would be nice to go to one of the taverns for dinner instead of doing the same old cooking of ye-old-bird at home. We made reservations for Thanksgiving for 11 people at C.C. and kept it a secret so it would be a surprise to a few of the guests. The whole gang was milling around CW for the afternoon and we made our way down D.O.G. St. to where the restaurant is and we commented that we should just eat here. Those who didn't know about the reservations were saying things like "Good luck with that!" and "We'll never get in here." It was about that time the hostess called our name. Our guests were quite surprised.
As far as the food goes they had a set menu with the choice of flounder, turkey or prime rib. I had the fish and it was very good. The vegetables were well prepared. They had a variety of pies for desert and coffee. We were even entertained by a cast of characters, including Christiana Campbell herself.
The one thing that was a bummer was that we were seated in the corner of the back porch at two separate tables. I had made the reservations months earlier but perhaps it was the best they could do. Our guest didn't seem to mind and we all had a pretty good time.
It was crazy busy but the staff handled it well with only a few order issues. All in all they did a fantastic job. Kudos to the wait staff.

Great place, food could be better. Title says it all. When you're inside Colonial Williamsburg it's a novel place to eat. Kids love it. Service is beyond good: it always feels like the entire place is waiting on you. The period setting is just cool.

The food I'm conflicted over. I think it's overpriced for the quality - they're charging fine-dining prices for food that can be had elsewhere for half the price. However, for a smaller menu it's very diverse and always prepared perfectly, and the portions are large.

Well, their crab stew is amazing, and I'd actually pay more than the $6 they charge for it. But the rest, a little underwhelming.

Fun and Neat. We ate upstairs and felt the history of the place, this makes for a fun time. Plan to go back this summer. The only thing that bothered me was a person at a table next to us kept talking to us, non stop. But we did not want to be rude to her - she was there only with her grandson and wanted adult conversation. What can you you do! But the food was great.

Good atmosphere and food. The only colonial tavern that also served the wonderful Sweet Potato Muffins.

Worth the Experience. If you are visiting Colonial Williamsburg, you must visit one of the taverns.
Christiana's is like stepping back in time, with the food and the environment just oozing history.
The food was fresh and tasty, especially the fish & crab.
Entertainment by the staff gave a glimpse of what life might have been like when Jefferson and Washington sat at your table.

I had maccaroni and a mixed green salet. The atmosphere made me feel like I was in a time warp, but that's the whole concept. Mrs. Campbell knitting was very funny- poor woman has to sit in a chair and knit all day. The restaurant makes tremendous butter, and spoon bread. Now seriously, where else do you get fresh spoon bread? I would take your family to this restaurant. It is a great experience for you to share with them. All their fish is fresh too! Make sure you bring a flashlight to read the menu, for there is no electricity to see it with. Enjoy

Had a delightful dinner at the tavern tonight wit my wife. It started with sweet potato bread that was out of this world. We began with a very good corn soup and a nice salad. Our entrees were the Watermans Supper-excellent crab cakes. We had spoon cornbread and it was great. My dessert was a delicious pecan pie. The service here was excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant.

My all time favorite restaurant. A rare establishment that serves 18th cuisine especially relating to seafood. The best thing of course is the spoon bread which is rarely found in any southern restaurant. I recommend it for the experience and a part of Colonial Williamsburg that should not be missed!!!

Eat, drink and be merry in a classic piece of Williamsburg history with fantastic service our server, Howard, was friendly, funny, and thorough. He gave us great recommendations and explanations. The tavern is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5PM - 8PM. There are no lights in the dining areas. The light is provided by candles lit on each table. Entertainment was provided by a gentleman with a guitar. Christiana's daughter, Molly, walked around and provided information and history of the Tavern. The Christiana Campbell Tavern was the tavern that guests would go to for seafood. It serves several seafood dishes as well as other traditional dishes. The Wayfarer's Supper plate includes a cup of corn and potato chowder, grilled shrimp and scallops, roasted vegetables, red potatoes and is finished with a dessert off of the menu. Every meal starts with sweet potato muffins and rolls and spoonbread is served with the meal. The food had good flavor, but all of the seafood was overcooked. The atmosphere and service can't be beat. We will definitely be back.

Such a great dining experience if you are looking for a colonial feel! Everything I had was absolutely great and our server seemed to be very informed about the meals. Good date night restaurant if you toured Historic Williamsburg! Make sure u have a reservation and it is about $100 for two people with drinks.

Christiana Campbell's Tavern is wonderful thanks in no small part to the wonderful staff here. They are very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. And the atmosphere is nearly magical in the rooms illuminated only with candlelight. We had a senior member of the family with us and as requested they sat us in their room with more light, so reading the menu was easier for her (and easier on us, too!). Starting with a cocktail adds to the ambience, warming the spirit along with the palate. The dinners are quite generous and composed of four courses. There are many culinary anachronisms, but they don't stand out negatively, in fact I believe we should be thankful for it. Two soups to choose from, and two salads (salets) as well. There are about five entrees to select from, one of which is a local fish catch. All the entrees were served with fresh green beans and fingerling potatoes, simply made, but flavorful and very good. Dessert had a few items to choose from, and all liked their choices. My favorite was the mixed berry crumble, it came with a wonderful vanilla ice cream that complimented the crumble beautifully, but two of us had the rum pie and enjoyed it, one had raspberry sorbet.

My boyfriend and I came here the day before Thanksgiving. Our servers name was Sheri (hope I'm spelling that right) and she was amazing! I cannot begin to say how lovely she was and how she made the experience all the better for us. We were blown away by the wonderful food, the atmosphere, and the friendly and professional staff. We will be coming here again for sure!! =)

Great restaurant in Colonial Williamsburg. It's a long time favorite. I had a seafood plate with mussels, clams, and salmon. Spoonbread is also good. You shouldn't expect haut cuisine, but a Williamsburg experience. It's pricey but included soup, salad, meal, breads, and dessert. A few GF options for all but the bread.
