Absolutely beautiful restaurant and a very enticing menu! My wife and I went there about a month ago and I enjoyed their Old Fashioned of the month made with orange cream whiskey. The concept fits Wisconsin to a T! In addition, their chef changes the featured dishes every month to match that of in-season produce and flavors, so the most local and highest quality ingredients can be used. Pictured are the Yuca fries with a chipotle aioli, the jerk chicken with a coconut rice and pineapple salsa, and for the wife, of course, the mac and cheese. But happy to say it was one of the best Mac and cheeses we’ve ever tasted and you can tell the noodles were homemade which made it even better. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very chic and made you feel like you were eating a home cooked meal.

Black Sheep was our caterer for our wedding on 04/09/2022. The staff at our wedding was professional and accommodating. The head waitstaff went above and beyond to ensure the head table felt well taken care of, and the owner, Jay, was on-site to ensure the event ran smoothly. All the guests received their selected meals. We were the first wedding for Black Sheep under new ownership. Unfortunately, the transition between the old owner, Tyler, and the new owner, Jay, led to some miscommunication and differing expectations, including the dishes served, taste, presentation, and timing of plating. I don't anticipate this to be an issue going forward for couples since the transfer of ownership was a unique scenario. The biggest frustration we had working with Black Sheep was the delayed communication. We were told there would be an increase in pricing (with the new ownership) about 2 months prior to the wedding (again, unique to the circumstances due to the transfer of ownership). The new price was almost double our initial signed contract quote, this was negotiated to 20% increase of the initial signed contract quote. Timeliness of receiving invoices were often delayed or incorrect, which made payment and discussion of negotiating difficult. Additionally, we received the final invoice 1+ week after sending in our final numbers (and only a few days prior to the wedding). When we sent some of our concerns/feedback, it did take over a month for a response (and a follow-up prompting email). It's unfortunate our experience wasn't what we anticipated since weddings are a once in an a lifetime experience, but we appreciated Jay apology/response to our concerns/feedback and he offered us a free meal as an act of good-faith.

To be honest, communication & follow up was horrible! Jay didn’t remember me when I called, messed me up with a wedding party. Food truck was supposed to arrive at 3:30 & didn’t show up until 4:15. I give them a 4 stars because when they actually showed up the food was amazing & service was great! Everyone loved it! I just hope you understand Jay, communication & organization will make or break your business. The food was great though, thank you!

Prior to covid shutting businesses down I would be a regular at the Sheep stopping by at least once a week. Stopped by for a late night menu they’re currently offering; I placed by order at 8:34 and was told I could pick up my food at 10:15. I get there at 10:15 food wasn’t ready. I come back at 10:30 and there was items still missing from my order. I will not be returning due to lack of professionalism. Management needs work. If you can’t provide something don’t offer it.

Wedding Catering review: DISASTER -would give negative stars We chose The Black Sheep back in July of 2021 for our May 27, 2022 wedding & had an amazing tasting with Tyler (previous owner) & created a delicious menu to suit our dietary needs. In March 2022, we were sent an email stating the ownership had changed & they now wanted to charge us $2300 more than our original signed contract. We negotiated to pay an additional 25% to cover inflation. We were promised endlessly the quality & menu would be the same as our original tasting. We had planned a family style meal: Mediterranean chicken, braised short rib, roasted red potatoes& red curry pad Thai (gluten free & vegan) Asian sesame salad (GF) & late night mini Chicago dogs, charcuterie board & homemade red roasted hummus w veggies & bruschetta. 2. Our tasting was high quality nuts, cheeses, meats, chocolates &dried fruits. We were given snap peas and summer sausage and chunks of cheese with some fruit & crackers. 3. Vanilla pudding was served instead of homemade red pepper hummus. That was simply mind boggling as to how vanilla pudding could be served instead of hummus & it was requested to be removed & were offered no replacement. 4. Tasting was spring mix edamame salad-What we got was Walmart shredded lettuce with peanuts & ramen noodles(not GF). We had numerous GF guests including the bride herself-that couldn’t eat it. 6. We never got any red roasted potatoes. 7. We paid for a red curry pad Thai with tofu and veggies & were served mushy noodles with eggs & no tofu. this was the dish the bride (myself) had picked out & the dish was served with egg (not vegan). Not to mention we had guests who were also vegan & some gluten free who had no safe option. once again was embarrassing to not have meal options for our guests. 8. no trust that the cooks were actually understanding the importance of what gluten free & vegan was & no food for the bride -we had to order her a meal from a nearby restaurant. 9. It was asked to the groom if the gluten could cause anaphylaxis or if someone would die. It seems as though answering “no, but people including the bride would become very sick” was not enough to keep the gluten out of the meals. As someone with celiac disease, it is unfortunate that the guidelines were not taken seriously, even after numerous emails & phone calls stating how important this was. It is even more sad because every wedding I’ve been a guest at has managed to get it correct. 10. An outside serving /catering company was used to serve the tables & was clearly understaffed with the food coming out slowly and the food being cold for many tables. 11. Our late night snack was not provided. We had paid for mini Chicago dogs. We were instead given peanut butter & jelly, popcorn & baked Mac and cheese- again cutting corners and providing cheap food. nobody had asked us about this until the day of the groom was told we did not have our late night food. We were then told you could get hotdogs, but at this point we knew they would not be the mini Chicago dogs we had ordered and still would not be what we had wanted. 12. No apology was ever given-. Many people approached the food truck to express the issues & we were met simply with shrugs and non answers. 13. The invoices we were given were wrong numerous times. We had to actually calculate and correct them ourselves and email your catering team back with the correct amounts. We had numerous calls letting bishop and jay know what needed to be gluten free and vegan (can provide email receipts). The communication was very poor throughout the experience after Tyler sold the business. Our wedding felt extremely cheapened by the quality and service of the food. We are posting this review to help other couples who may have considered this company for their catering or are having them later this year so they do not have the same disaster we did. We wanted to discuss all of these issues over the phone or email but after two weeks and multiple attempts to contact the owner Jay we have resorted to online review.

Worst restaurant experience in my life. It was graduation day and I understand that it was busy but the service was unacceptable to say the least. I should’ve known my experience was going to be rough from the start. The water wasn’t even cold when we initially sat down. Then it took forever to take our orders then we didn’t receive our first item for 45 minutes and even then while the bacon wrapped pork medallions had good flavor they were room temp. Then we proceeded to see the servers lost in orders circling around the restaurant with no organization. It seemed like they were grabbing foods then going to random tables hoping someone had the food. After over an hour and a half we had only received half our dishes all at separate times, none of which was warm. What was supposed to be a nice time with the family turned into a massive disappointment and a McDonald’s kind of night for dinner (which was warmer than the food at the black sheep after it had to be delivered).

Our dinner was delicious. Wife had the burger of the month I the stew. A modern eatery with farm to table chef created menus.
