Amber Cafe

Great setting that manages to be welcoming, upscale, and warm while at the same time not the least bit pretentious. The menu is focused and manageable allowing the staff to execute flawlessly, which they did on my veal chop w/roasted mushrooms and my wife's whitefish with cous cous. The service was phenomenal and attentive in a way you rarely if ever see in the burbs. I highly recommend Amber and will certainly be back.

I had the pleasure of visiting yesterday for dinner and went in right after they opened. The two owners, Matt and Bronco absolutely took care of me. The only things I "ordered" were my drinks and I just told Matt to bring me what he thought was the best dishes, and boy was I not disappointed in the slightest. Started off with a Russian egg salad type starter (I forgot the actual name of it) served with small triangles of Pita bread to put it in and it was phenomenal. Next up was goat cheese with really awesome tomato sauce and toast points. Again...amazing. Following that was a Serbian salad with a little oil and feta cheese. I never thought I really liked Feta or Goat Cheese, but Amber Cafe has changed my mind on that! SOO GOOD! For the Entree, Matt brought out a perfectly cooked Wagyu Beef New York Strip that was out of this world. Sauteed asparagus and an amazing gravy for dipping. To finish off the night I had their home made apple tart made by their in house pastry chef, and they knocked it out of the park. Each course was better than the last and such an amazing dining experience. If you find yourself in Downtown Westmont and wondering where to eat, this is the place to go. 100% recommend and absolutely will be back!

All the food items were thoughtfully presented and were very appealing. The cheese plate was delicious but lacked a third cheese option which would have made it worth getting on anither visit. The portion was small. The Beet Salad very tasty and again a bit on the smaller side but very nice and exceptional flavors that worked very nicely together. I had the Pork Chop and no doubt I would return for it. Cooked perfectly as ordered with an awesome brocoli and spinich side. Both portions were very nice and the brocoli/spinich dish was excellant. My wife had the special Pork Shank dish. It was a smoked shank and she is not partial to smoked meats but she was very pleased with her choice. Because the portion was very nice i got to finish her dish as well and it was outstanding. I would return again and hopefully very soon. A very nice first visit and about 10 miles for us from Elmhurst but would certainly do it again.
