Hong Fu Chinese Restaurant

I came here for one reason and one reason only: I happened to be at the strip mall, saw the sign and thought Chinese food sounded good. Then I walked in to the place ... Hong Fu's has a small dining area. In fact, the dining area is only 9 tables and while this may otherwise indicate a boutique restaurant with amazing dishes, here it did not. I stood just inside the door for about a minute before anyone even acknowledged my existence. I wasn't sure if this was one of those 'seat ypurself' establishments or if I should wait for someone to seat me as there was no sign and, as previously mentioned, no greeting. When the girl finally welcomed me she asked whether my meal would be here or to go. "Here," I said. She sat me at my table of choice. A booth, if you must know. She dropped off a water and menu before disappearing. Had the restaurant been busy I could have understood, but as it was me and one other person I felt she was spending her Saturday here under duress than out of any desire to actually work. I ordered orange chicken from the lunch menu and she asked me if I wanted egg rolls or wantons. "Which is better?" I asked. She shrugged and said she had no opinion. I chose the wantons. She disappeared again and I only saw her when she brought my soup out, then my meal. She never asked to refill my water or how my meal was, in which I would have replied that the bowl with the red sauce didn't appear to be clean (see image). The food itself was underwhelming. The friend rice was dry, the chicken, while well cooked, wasn't as spicy as the menu led me to believe and wantons were okay. The surprising star to this meal was the broccoli which was warm and crunchy. During my meal I heard yelling in the kitchen as someone was obviously arguing. Only after I had finished eating and pushed my plate away did she return with my check, again not asking me about my meal or filling my water. Only after I sat here typing this out did she return with a pitcher of water - before walking away again.

I don't know how they have such a high rating. We ordered for delivery and it was disappointing. High priced and inedible. The sesame tofu was disgusting, it was cut in 2 inch pieces and barely fried so it had the texture of slime and was flavorless. The Mongolian pork had a few tiny bits of pork and the box was almost all shaved slightly cooked onions. If that's not bad enough the delivery guy acted dumb and like he didn't understand the concept of counting money and like he couldn't speak English keeping me standing in the freezing weather, I flagged him away in frustration with a huge tip, he's going to need it if this service keeps up.
