Tropical Smoothie Cafe

I went in the store to order take out. I am ok with the longer than usual wait since it’s Sunday and not enough staff working, but I don’t feel it’s ok that their computer system automatically set the tip amount at 18%. It shows you options. But I could not get it working to change it. So I was being charged 18%. I can see how easily the customers being charged if they don’t pay attention and I don’t like that. Why it’s 18% not standard 15%??

The empty cup fell on the dirty floor, the employee put it back on the table (the dirt was all over the cup) and pour my smoothie in it. When he finally heard me ( the other vitmaixes were working), I asked to use the other cup and he just poured it from the dirty cup to the new one. The other employees forgot to give me my side salad. I asked them for it. They didn’t include include the fork, I had to go around the cafe to look for it but they weren’t there. I had to ask for it again. Very bad experience there.

This place has been hit and miss for me in the past, but they seem to have gotten it together. I've always liked their sandwiches, wraps and flatbreads, and of course the smoothies are fantastic (I only wish they had a smaller size - sometimes just a little treat is all I want). Now I'm happy to see consistent quality and good service too. We order here probably 3 times a month or so.

I used my app for the first time, then waited 10 minutes to pick it up. It wasn't at the counter when I arrived. People came in, ordered there, got their orders, then left. I'm still standing there, 10 min later. Finally, someone asked me what I ordered, then got it started. Shouldn't they receive orders placed on the app? She started the smoothie in the blender, then had to help an employee at the register who seemed lost. That employee was constantly wiping sweat from her forehead with a paper towel, and was wearing her mask on her chin. Made me wonder if she was sick. An efficient male employee noticed that there was a drink in the blender, and asked if I was waiting for a Watermelon Mojito. Yippee! 23 minutes after ordering, I had my smoothie. The smoothie was delicious, but was missing the lime straw. Oh well. Seems that it's hard to get good help now.

Island Green smoothie was 7$. Def pricey but it was at least somewhat sizeable. Imo worth 5$ not 7. Smoothie tasted good, unfortunately I didn't watch the gentleman put in the ingredients so I don't know how much kale and other stuff was used. Def a good bit of ice in the smoothies tho, which imo is not a plus. Cups are styrofoam which is awesome for keeping the drink cold and frozen but bad for the environment. I'd much rather something other than styrofoam like say paper? I know styrofoam is cheap but the owner needs to understand people like me won't come back from the styrofoam aspect alone. Smoothie was good tho, nothing bad to say here really besides too much ice. Just a 3 star tho. Might go back to try their food, just prob won't pay for another smoothie
