Started off with the chili and nacho chips and my wife had the French onion soup with cheese. They were both delicious. I had a fresh turkey club sandwich with shoe string potatoes and a sliced dill pickle , you could tell that the turkey was made fresh.my wife had the chicken pot pie which was ver
Stopped here after a short hike. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. We had French onion soup, chicken pot pie and the meatloaf sandwich. All were very good. In a nice setting too. We sat next to the working fire place. There was another larger room overlooking the river as well. We will d
So man alive, ,the French onion soup is delicious. I’m a soup person so this is a big deal to me. Got a flight of beer just to give everything a taste and was incredibly pleased with their location offerings. The Kent Falls Brewing and Woodbury Brown Ale were especially delicious. In addition to th
Coming here was a last second Valentine’s Day decision. I called earlier in the day, luckily they had a reservation spot. This had been on our list of places to try for a few months. We didn’t want to drive too far because of work in the morning. This is only 15 minutes from my house and very conven
Had a girls weekend in CT. I made reservations. It was very humid out so we opted to sit inside. We sat in the dining room (not tavern) as it was lighter. We had fried calamari app which was light and crisp with a nice little spice dipping sauce. I had the steak tips with mashed potatoes and su
Food was excellent! I decided on the French onion soup, which needed some salt and pepper, besides that the flavor was amazing and it was the perfect amount of onion and cheese. For my meal I decided on the steak tips. The steak was the softest steak I have ever had ( even reheated!) The veggies had
Love this ambiance and old style place. It has an antique door! Very cozy fireplace and cute interior but wow it gets overly packed and busy! Could use some more hours to accommodate all the customers or even some way to restructure the tables because it gets so very busy. Yummy good tavern food goo
Went a while back, the historic and cozy atmosphere is amazing! They have great food and service, the cinnamon apple cider is out of this world!
Great food, service and atmosphere. Go any time of year to see this place in a different light.

Surprise visit while vagabonding through Connecticut. Sat at the bar, nice atmosphere, friendly people. My beer was fresh and cold. House wine was nice, per my wife! I had the lobster roll-nicely toasted bun, fresh, firm lightly dressed lobster-fries well done of course. Can’t remember having bette
Great food and atmosphere. Very highly recommend stopping in for food. Nice river behind that is nice to look at while eating
Great old pub, very rustic and old fashioned decor, but in a good way! I had fish and chips, as an Ex Brit I struggle to find good fish and chips in the USA, the fish was excellent, the chips were more like fries, they were good, but it would have be perfect with hand cut home made chips/fries. Woul
Great atmosphere, fun place to visit and good food.
Cozy tavern perfect for meeting up with friends for a drink or enjoying a dinner alone. The menu is upscale tavern fare with the classic fish and chips and burgers along with dishes like branzino and filet mignon if you’re feeling fancy. I went for the pear and blue cheese salad and added grilled s
We eat here often. The food is always good, great specials especially in season seafood specials. Craft beer and wines by the glass always great. Even with very large parties the restaurant is never noisy, so nice to dine here!
Gws is the best, cozy, welcoming environment. Our party of three arrived on a Friday evening without reservations and were warmly greeted and seated on the out of doors terrace. It was like a dream. Great variety on menu burgers, salads and entrees with a flexible set of prices. Well stop by soon.
Had a GREAT time there Thursday, Dec 16. Particularly Kim and Tiffany who made our day! Food was terrific - blackened chicken sandwich and the chicken pot pie. I never eat oysters, but GW's fried oysters are great! Been there many evenings - outstanding!
