The food here is amazing. A perfect blend of comfort food style chicken with Asian fusion without being super unhealthy. I go here quite a bit for lunch and the ladies here are always friendly. Definitely order the potato wedges. They're huge and delicious, extra tasty when dipped in sriracha mayo. I also favor the coleslaw with peanut sauce and the lemon pepper cream chicken. The portions are perfect, good and full without being stuffed. I also really appreciate the fact that this an eco conscious establishment. They encourage you to not use plastic bags, upgraded away from styrofoam takeout boxes, and there is a self serve condiment and utensil station.
Affordable prices and decent portions.
Be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes for the Chicken Party Wings though. I would definitely recommend getting the Sweet Garlic Sauce.
Also, what kinda irk me was they opened an hour later than stated and closed earlier than stated. So their operating time was somewhat like 12pm-8pm. Maybe it was just my luck both times. Oh well....
Have a good meal.
Very different inside feel from the outside signs. Surprisingly clean, and the baked chicken was great! You can't quite get a meat and 3 here, but it's as close as you can get in the area. My only issue was that the side sauces could have been better. Reasonable prices. If you're worried - give it a try! I'm glad I did.
Super friendly staff here and the food came quickly but long enough to know it was made to order. We had the 6 Mumbo Sauce chicken wings and they were great! The wings were really good quality and a good size while the sauce was thick, sweet and had a mild hint of spice. The one criticism is that it could probably be spicier.
Thank God I didn't go to Chipotle (which I love dearly). I was on my way to Chipotle when this place caught my eye. The name was catchy, so I gave it a shot. Their menu is a dazzling array of flavors that make your imagination go wild. After trying it, the food exceeds the expectation. Plus, it's healthy! Their sauces are light and tangy, not thick and sugary. Tonton Chicken is such a creative break from the usual food, I wish there was one close to my house. I could seriously eat there every day.
Tonton Chicken doesn't have much in the way of decor, but that's not why you come here - you come here for the best fried chicken in downtown DC. The chicken boxes and bone-in fried chicken are the BOMB. I recommend the #19 Sriracha chicken box with the peanut coleslaw and chayote pickled salad. Yum!
I'm a fan of Tonton chicken. Affordable prices and decent portions. I still felt hungry afterwards but it was really good. I recommend the yellow chicken. It may sound weird but it taste delicious. Comes with one side
