D.C. has some of the best Ethiopian food in America and Ambassador restaurant holds true to that reputation. I got the special tibsi (lamb) which came with a small salad and lots of injera. When I tell you my taste buds exploded eating this- my roommate had to close her door because it smelled so good and she didn’t want to order out again. The salad was alright but honestly not concerned with it for the level of excellence that came out of the tibsi. I will be going back and I encourage you to as well.

This place is a GEM! The food— amazing, the staff—SENSATIONAL, the atmosphere—causal but comfy… oh and did I mention… THE FOOD IS SO GOOD MY MOUTH IS STILL WATERING! Literally leaving this review still seated at my table because I was so moved. If I could leave 20 stars I would.

I lived in Asmara 15 years ago and maintain a discerning appreciation for the food and culture. I respected both. This place has a great mix of people and food. Loved the music, videos playing of Asmara, those that eat here, and of course the food. Grateful this team is showcasing their culture and food in DC! I will hopefully visit again.
