I saw Christina on an episode of Chef's Table, and her story was inspiring and her food looked amazing. So when I was planning my trip to DC last summer, and I learned there was a Milk Bar location there, I got really excited. So on the way out, the day closest to my birthday, I stopped in and picked up the order I pre-ordered online, the Milk Bar Sampler. I chose the Sampler, because it had a little bit of everything! A slice of the pie, two three-packs of cake pop truffle balls, and six cookies. Excellent. I mentioned the pre-order, by the way, because I definitely recommend going that route if you come here. They were definitely understaffed, the line out the door did not move at an efficient pace, and I heard that many of the orders at the front of the line were sold out. So, heads up. As for the food itself, the pie was heaven. The Crack Pie (I know the real name) was so soft and unctuous and was just the perfect amount of sweetness. I would recommend getting a whole version of this every time. The truffle balls and the cookies were also good. Less above average than the Pie, but still very good. The second best thing in the sampler was the Compost Cookie (The original sweet and salty kitchen sink cookie, with chocolate chips in a deep vanilla base, plus Milk Bar’s five recommended food groups: pretzels, potato chips, graham crackers, coffee, oats, and butterscotch). So if you come, get the whole pie and a six pack of this cookie. Done. Overall, this place was really good. The hype and the marketing probably gets it tons and tons of business. I really enjoyed it, and I will probably come back the next time I'm within 25 miles of another one.

The highlight of this little place was the staff member ‘D’. What an asset she is to this quirky, fabulous little place. D was so proud of their products, so knowledgeable, and just good fun. Coming from Australia I have never had cereal ice cream, and I have never tasted anything quite like it. It was amazing. Do yourself a favour - go and buy from D. Thanks D for your generosity!

Oh boy does this poor girl need help. There was only one employee overloaded with ten to-go orders. No idea what's wrong with the owner not having more help on a weekend but his one employee had a great attitude despite drowning in too much work. This was our first time at a Milk Bar and the only surprise was the prices ($53 for a crack pie 😱). I got the Greatest Hits (one of everything), so cereal milk soft serve, a compost cookie, birthday truffles, crack pie, plus a cake slice and a brownie quake. We haven't tried the other goodies yet, but the ice cream was excellent. Christina Tosi has quite a reputation and short of disappointing, she managed to put enough salt in her food, which is the number one mistake made by bakers anywhere. She however does the opposite where she put in too much salt, pushing the ice cream into the realm of savory versus sweet, which I consider a mistake. Girl, drop the salt by maybe 20% and I think you'll hit that sweet/salty spot of ambrosia of the gods. Again, this is incredible food, I can just see where the balance could be better.

This place was pretty crowded, especially for 9:30 on a Monday night. There was only one employee working, but she did a remarkably good job of serving everyone quickly. We got the greatest hits, which included four items for $24 and a chocolate b-day milkshake. All were definitely a bit overpriced. Cookie came pre-wrapped and tasted like it was several days old. The pie was delicious, but the shake had a lot of sprinkles which messed with the flavor and texture. Very limited, dim seating area.

the crunchy cereal shake is so yummy. I love the almost salty hints that come with the crunch of the corn flakes. sure, this place is expensive, but they have unique options that are worth the splurge. i got the bday cake for the first time, it was a little too sweet for me. the store itself is also super cute!

LOVE it here! Wish I knew about this place sooner, definitely a must try with so many dessert options there is something for everyone here. The lady at the counter today was awesome! She let me have a sample of the cereal milk soft-serve and recommended me to get the milk shake. She was very sweet and made my day. Definitely a must do when I come back to the city!

A classic, must-try dessert shop. Cereal milk soft serve is yummy and refreshing. The milk bar “crack” pie is great - we found it tasted better after taking it home and letting it sit in the fridge for a bit. The staff were friendly and offered generous samples. Gotta watch the Chefs table documentary on the founder before going - she has an inspiring story and helps you appreciate the dessert so much more (not that you need much help)

I tried this spot since my usual spot on 13th is now closed. The ice cream did not disappoint. They were out of corn flakes toppings so I went with cinnamon toast toppings. I loved it but not as good as corn flakes. Also surprised they had a parking lot.
