This is my first time here and I'll say, I thoroughly enjoyed the bibimbap that I ordered. For that don't know what it is, it's a Korean dish with white rice, marinated thinly, sliced grilled beef, with an assortment of vegetables (spinach, bean sprouts, lettuce, etc.), and a fried egg on top. It usually includes some red pepper paste for a bit of heat. The picture below is after I ate some...the portion is generous, in my opinion. Currently, the hot bar is closed, but they do have a salad bar (pay per pound of food). I got a few kimbap (Korean rice rolls) For those still needing to come into the office to work, it's a good choice away from the McDonalds and Subway due to the options.

The fried fish is so good. The only thing is that you have to call in the order a day in advance. Note: I ate half of the food prior to taking the picture. 😆

The food was so good! I had chicken PHO and my husband had a Gyro. They were both excellent and fresh. The owner ‘Mamma Sue’ is an absolute sweetheart. A hardworking immigrant who loves people and food.

I appreciate a good burger and sandwich- I will admit I was only expecting average food due to the smaller and not on the standard tourist path. However, I have to say I was very impressed. Compared to the other places the prices are fair and the food has a homemade feel. I would defiantly come here for something that tastes homemade but without the work of making it yourself.

Lots of good, traditional breakfast and lunch menu items available for purchase by weight. Sandwiches can also be made-to-order and the salad bar is good. Cafe 59 had some of the best Pho soup and Bibimbap I've had in DC. Owner/operator is very approachable and you'd think she was just part of the staff there. Suitable for families traveling with children.
