I LOVE it here. I enjoy the soulful cooked meals, the service is very nice and I especially enjoy the other patrons who have been coming here for years and years like myself. I like to sit and have a few laughs . It's a great, fun place to sit,and enjoy. Take out is superb as well. The owner is so kind and I miss his mother as she adored me.

The place does not have aesthetics or great service. But their food was great. The pastrami sandwich is amazing (5/5). The French fries smelled amazing but didn’t have much seasoning though..! They were fluffy not crunchy. The place was packed with people in a small space which scared me a little (2/5). But I guess it was everyday regulars. Overall don’t go expecting anything else apart from good food. They have parking but they don’t take cards.

Best pastrami sandwich in DC....by a landslide! A few other places had a decent one (like now closed On Rye in Chinatown), but they were always overpriced and just not worth the money. For under $9, you can get a large hot pastrami sandwich that will rock your taste buds (and it comes with a really, really good pickle). Don't get me wrong. This place doesn't look cool and it's a hike to get there (it's nowhere close to a metro), but it's worth it. It's a 1960s small hut with a orange mural marking its location. When you walk in, it feels like a small cafeteria filled with locals eating their sandwiches. You'll see construction workers and old men in suits and hats having lunch (they aren't open for dinner...darn!). After reading the very old menu, a friendly woman will take your order. Wait until it's ready and pay up front (cash only- there's an ATM at the gas station next door). You can't go wrong here, but the hot pastrami sandwich on wheat with cheese and mustard is to die for. They sell old school Dr Brown's soda, which is fitting. To "make it" on Yelp, you either have to believe in the power of peer reviews and surprise and delight (Rose's Luxury on Barracks Row does this well) or own who you are and don't give a damn. Deli City is the latter and it works...like five star works.

This is a great family owned restaurant that makes some great sandwiches. We tried 3 different ones and couldn't go wrong. Definitely stop here.

Very nice deli, amazing for the location and how the place looks-- it is a nondescript and unassuming hole in the wall-- and quite good for DC! Prices are well within acceptable and the sandwich I got (pastrami on rye) was over-stuffed and worth the ten bucks. I went to this little place back in the 90s and was not overly impressed. The quality has gone up and I look forward to trying a couple of other deli faves. They have yellow and spicy mustard, if you want to make the sandwiches pop even more, consider using your own mustard-- maybe a horseradish and spice! UPDATE 8FEB22: Still AMAZING!

Nice hole in the walk that I've been going to for decades. I love the food from the big sandwiches to the generous dinner plates. Very friendly atmosphere.

1st time eating in DC! From at Atlanta I'm happy to say this place was great as soon as I walked in the door. Due to covid, they provided mask upon entry. The ladies behind the counter are all so sweet, I felt like I was at home asking Aunite for a sandwich. As I left with a meal I felt was going to be awesome, the guy at the check out was so kind to my family. I rarely leave reviews, these guys are doing a great job... to sum it UP... Food was AMAZING, Great customer service.

This place was awesome! Went there today for the first time with my Dad & he had the Pastrami sandwich & he loved it. I had the club sandwich on white bread and it was out of this world good. The service was 5-stars, very friendly & checked in on us very regularly. Most places like this do not come out to the table for refills & to see how your meal is going. They really care about their customers. We will definitely be going back 100%.
