What I call affectionately, "The Clubhouse". This place has great food, strong drinks, free wifi and the staff are friendly and attentive. This is a one of the jewels of the Brookland neighborhood, and a place I always recommend when people ask for somewhere to eat, meet, throw an event, etc. Try the Tarboro Viking for a sip, and I recommend the Nachos, 12th street tacos and edamame hummus for a bite.
Unique spot in Brookland with great food, even better cocktails and a stellar space. Owner and staff are extremely accommodating to host a vast array of different events from parties large and small, to live bands and fundraisers. Definitely worth the trip to Brookland.
I only had drinks and a grilled cheese. When I got there they were 30 minutes away from closing for a private party. Drinks were ok as well as the sandwich.

We held my son's 13th birthday party here. The staff was friendly and helpful hosts for our event. The food was good and overall we were pleased with our decision. This wasn't my first experience. Every time I have been here has been satisfying. Thanks!
Great ambiance. Food is pretty good. Had the Philly Cheese Whiz with fries! Delicious. Drinks are also very good and reasonably priced. Lots of great events and you're able to book the space as well. Was attending an Open Mic and the place was packed and everyone was having a great time!
This is a super reliable spot to pop into if you're in the neighborhood! Everyone working here is really nice and makes you feel welcome to the neighborhood, which is cool because you can tell this place has a lot of regulars. The food is just okay but there's a good beer selection and lots of room for larger groups.

We went here for dinner on a Friday evening. It is definitely a popular place, and most of the seats were taken, but we were able to borrow the end of a long table from a friendly party that wasn't using the whole thing. There was a haze about the place which added an air of authenticity, but did not smell smoky at all. The menu is pretty diverse, and the drink menu offers a wide variety of beers and fun cocktails. We ordered the nachos with the pork and a fancy grilled cheese, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to claim that this meal was the single best grilled cheese I've ever had (the bacon and the cherry peppers didn't hurt!), and right up there with the best nachos I've ever had. And the prices are shockingly low considering how good the food is. I was afraid, after seeing the prices, that either the food wasn't going to be good or I wouldn't be served much of it. Neither were true. If you're living in Brookland or visiting a friend in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and check this place out.
I've been here a few times, but the last visit prompted me to write this review. My mom was visiting, got into town late, so we were hungry but weren't looking for a huge meal. We shared the portabella mushroom sliders, onion rings, and shrimp and grits. All had Fantastic flavor. Smith Public Trust has figured out how to make small plates satisfying. And as others have said, they have a great local draft beer selection.
It's not a complaint, but be forewarned, it's a loud atmosphere. I think it's just the open architecture, but it's not a place to have an intimate conversation.

A wonderful place to perform! The crowd was very awesome and receptive. The staff was nice and courteous. Very clean bathrooms. One of the cleanest bars I've ever seen. Their attention to the details rates them 100%. I love that fact. Ok what are you waiting for? Go to Smith Public Trust. Drink responsibly have a blast. The Pretty Bois Open Drag King Night Show was a really delicious show, at a great venu. Fun, fun and more fun.
Great vibe at this spot, a good lunch location as well. Food is great, I had their nachos with chicken and they were very filling and not greasy. Came with a friend and did lunch, wish I could have spoken with the owner. I may come by for happy hour or dinner soon, BREAKFAST ALL DAY
