Went for their Chicago style deep dish pizza and was pleasantly surprised. Sauce was delicious, with fresh toppings. Crust was flaky, and flavorful. It's not like back home, but this is as good as it gets around here. Better than Pi, and Armonds.
We went during a slow snowy Saturday evening, so it was about a 35 min wait. It can take up to an hour if it's busy, so it pays to call ahead. Friendly service, reasonably priced on everything considering it's right in the District.
Kickin it old School at the Capitol lounge... this Nostalgic place offers both old and new school drinks, craft beer, and fare. You got to love all the political banners buttons pictures posters and decorations. Most interesting if you flash your government ID they'll give you half price off and cocktails with some cool names. Check out the list of $5 drinks, aka Shutdown cocktails. Their burger was great, see the picture with sweet potato fries.
Great bar, great service, strong drinks. What else can you ask for?! We loved this place.
Right in the heart of history. Great bar with amazing happy hour prices and fantastic food. I would highly recommend the smoked chicken wings with homemade Mac n cheese. Give it a try.
Loved this place and the Wednesday night trivia. The beers available on tap were great, and the food wasn't bad. I just got appetizers- mozzarella sticks (which were shaped like patties) and sweet potato fries, which were great even once they went cold. Portions were pretty large- definitely sharing size. I'll go back when I can. One note- you order at the bar, they'll bring your food to you, but you're picking up your own beers.
This is one of those cozy, “modern rustic” dive bars that people love to keep going to. I love the theme and all of the old political memorabilia. It has a pub kind of atmosphere with dollar off drafts for happy hour and great deals for happy hour food. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Great place on Capitol Hill to stop, relax, and have a drink.
Like most bars near the hill, they are in old buildings with lots of quirks. This one is no different! Stopped in after a long day to enjoy draft hard ciders and 25 cent wing night.
Friendly service, lovely food and interesting location. Its worth the visit. And as they say, No Politics and No Miller Lite ;)
I love this place. Coming from Chicago and living on a staffer salary I just wanted a nice, affordable dive bar close to work and home.
Sports are always on so that's perfect for me, the music is good and loud, and the food is traditional American bar food but it's all done well.
Patio? Check. Room for lots of people? Check. Good weekday specials? Check.
My only complaint is their slogan: No politics, no Miller Lite. I can get behind the no politics thing (even though the place is covered in political memorabilia), but the no Miller Lite on tap is a problem for me. It's not like they're beer snobs. They have Bud Light. I'm sure it's just that the owner hates it but it's popular in DC (and Chicago for that matter) for a reason. Oh well.
Great place for pub trivia, Wednesdays at 7pm! Low-key, yet classy at the same time. Decorated with lots of historical political things, and a popular spot for Hill interns of all parties. Highly recommend!
When I arrived I wasn't sure what to make of the place from the outside but I had a feeling this was the place to be. I was meeting friends there. The place was packed at 6:30 on a Thursday. Most of the crowd looked like staffers from The Hill.
Fun atmosphere and good bar food and cocktails.
