You’re coming here for the food and the history, not the service. When we first walked in, there was a couple in front of us so we waited for a few. When a few people got up at the bar, we asked the couple if they were waiting on a table and they said yes, so we started walking towards the bar to ta
Delicious Traditional Dinner! A great option for brunch! A friend recommended this place for brunch. It was totally worth it. The food is great and the prices as well. I ordered the Bertha’s Breakfast Special. If this is the first time you visit this place, I would recommend this dish. Service cou
The best soul food, the best service. Historic atmosphere. Frankly I feel privileged just to walk through the front door. But the catfish for breakfast? Perfection. And the cherry on top? Crushed ice and fruit punch.
My Mom used to take me here to eat when I was a kid/teenager & let me tell you the food is still as good as it was 20, 30, 40 yrs ago. The pork chops are pure perfection! If you're new to DC or you're a native looking for some good soul food, this is the spot. They're only open on weekends though.
The food was great, especially the hotcakes. Loved the historic atmosphere. It is better go early (before 12pm) to get a table and have a good service.
Great place to eat!! Food is always good and hot bc it's cooked to order. Historic place! Go

Great spot for breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were really good, and the half-smoke was the best we've had! Everyone there is super friendly and although it's super busy they have a way to make sure you're taken care of and have everything you need. Will be returning to try their lunch for sure.
Best breakfast spot hands down, I frequent This restaurant because the food is great and service is awesome. I have no complaints at all, it’s rich with history and community. One of the last real mom & pop shops left....
Food is delicious!! However, it was hot inside the building. Please improve the air conditioner so it's not so hot inside the building in June.
I am Mad at myself for living in the DMV for 6 years and never visiting here. Honestly, I did not even know about it until I saw it on the travel channel. That is disappointing that no one talks about this place that has soo much history! Location- Small diner, but you can really tell it is full hi
