Location is great. We enjoyed a three course menu. I had the tuna aa a starter. It was totally delicious. The main dish - a grain bowl - was not such an amusement and so was the desert. It was okay, the coffee a little pricey.
This is a family friendly atmosphere, I was very impressed by how nice all the staff was. They were very patient with the children. This place was absolutely amazing. The Pinea is different from the nightclub and restaurant, it is fun casual and gray for restaurants.
If you find yourself at the W in DC with some time to kill or work to do, head to the Pinea Patio on the ground floor during happy hour. A large helping of delicious and perfectly salty marinated olives and a glass of red wine came to a whopping $12 total, which was a perfect way to answer emails while enjoying some people watching. (Admittedly, I dined here in the summer when the weather was beautiful!)
The HH includes several wines and easy finger-food appetizers. A welcome start to an evening out in DC!
We had lunch here while walking around the monuments. It is very close to the White House. The mussels were perfect, and a huge serving! Our waitress was great. They were seeing up a wrestling ring on the patio while we ate. WRESTLING at the restaurant seems pretty strange. I didn't stay to watch, maybe it was really fun? I don't know?
Today was my first, but not my last, visit to Pinea. The view of the Washington Monument was lovely and the staff could not have been more attentive.
The salad was fresh and presented beautifully with the just the right amount of a light dressing to enhance, but not mask the taste of the greens. The mushroom risotto was exquisite -- creamy, flavorful and rich. Not exactly for those on a diet, but what a way to gain a pound.
I'll be back.
On a Sunday morning we had limited time to eat, but tried Pinea regardless. They were not overly busy, but clearly understaffed. After waiting for a time and not being waited upon, we informed the hostess we were unable to wait longer and going to leave.
The manager came to us quickly. Apologised and paid for to-go coffee and a box of danishes. It was very much appreciated and I do not fault them for the described issues. They handled me properly.
Lovely place in the centre of Washington DC, 150 metres from the White House. Great service and good food and coffee. Definitely worth stopping for lunch too rest weary legs after a morning of waking around town... Staff are super friendly too and the service is great.
Went there for a patio party (cigars). Staff was nice, although, inside, the bartenders seemed a little slow and confused---and that was before the crowd showed up. But, overall, it was a really nice experience.
Loved the strawberry sangria! Very nice staff as well.
The new mural makes the whole experience come together. Nothing in DC like it.
