Truly authentic. If I hadn’t known better I’d have sworn I was in a seaside pub in Ireland. And the coddle - I’ve never seen it on a pub menu in the states. So good. Great service and excellent food. We will definitely be back.
Restaurant has a great setting. A great pub atmosphere. Of course i love everything Irish. Great drinking glasses. Too bad u can’t buy them. The food and service was great . We will be back. highly recommend
Such a beautiful atmosphere! The day we were here was a very warm and humid day. We enjoyed being by the water. The breeze coming off was very refreshing! So many stores and restaurants it was hard to choose where to go. My nephew had his little dog with him, so we sat outside. The staff readily brought out a bowl of water for his pup! The food was delicious!! Definitely will come back when we come to visit again!
Something more traditional for once!
Great food, everything was made correctly and tasted excellent. There was a good variety on the menu which had an Irish undertone but something for everyone. There were several vegan and gluten free options as well. It was pretty dark in the restaurant which made it hard to tell how clean things were. The beer selection was ok but not outstanding but the bartender and other employees were friendly and willing to help.
Great Irish food and service. Located on the wharf boardwalk, there is lots of space and the one waiter, Mr. Michaelson, was super friendly and helpful, even advising on the most bang for buck and economical dishes. My mashed potatoes and “bacon” fried pork loin was very nice. Scallops also good and the trout was also good.
This restaurant is one of my favorite spots in the Wharf because of the atmosphere and the food.
They have a very good customer service and the food is very tasty.
I like the set up of the restaurant and if the weather permits I prefer sitting outside.
They have very good cocktails and beers.
Well recommended
The food was good, but the service from the bartender was exceptional.
If you think it is a little pricy for a pub (maybe a little) — compared to everything around it — it’s really well priced.
Great location and The Wharf seems like a great area.
It’s my first time at the Wharf, and the second time here at Kirwan’s. It’s warm and inviting with the dark wood interior with warm lighting. The staff is friendly and attentive to whatever you might need. If sports is what you’re into, you’ll find numerous big screens with the latest games on. However, if you want a quiet meal, you have a couple of choices including a semi inclosed outdoor dining area. The food is really good and hearty.
A great way to spend an afternoon at the Wharf. Very pleasant and attentive service. Good proportions of food. Nice atmosphere.
We just happened upon this place while exploring this part of DC on vacation. It was a great meal and I’m glad this was a place we picked to go in after struggling to find just the right places to eat while on vacation.
We rode rental bikes down to this area from the national mall. The metro and renting bikes is definitely the way to get around.
I had the shepherd’s pie that was made with lamb. She had the Irish ham and cheese. Both were really good but the shepherd’s pie was very tasty. You would not be disappointed with it.
The atmosphere was nice and you can see the water from the tables. We did several late lunches as our nicer meals while vacationing so we could enjoy the monuments at night. It worked out really well.
Atmosphere inside is just right. Music is old rock and not too loud. Seats are comfortable. Curry was good. Guinness tasty. Friendly staff. I recommend this place for quick bite and good beer
Upon arrival we came in and went to the bar… it was a Saturday night so it was hustle and bustling. We immediately found seats and were greeted by one of the bartenders who then introduced himself. He was courteous whitty and personable all while making sure he helped his guests along the bar. Shortly after arrival we were greeted by another bartender who was just as personable and friendly. We enjoyed the drinks and the atmosphere. Our crab cakes were so delicious my boyfriend wanted to order a second helping. We hadn’t been to the Wharf before so we hung out for a bit and then closed out and headed down the block… however we couldn’t seem to find a vibe that matched the bartenders at Kirwans created so we headed back and closed out our night there. James and Andrew you guys were beyond spectacular and we truly appreciate your time and service. You guys made our night and experience! Thank you so much!
