Mitsitam Native Foods Cafe - Washington DC - Photo album

The taco fry bread was good and filling! This cafe offers comfort food that will appeal to the widest tastebuds. For examples the beans and squash made up the base in my chili for my taco fry bread. The foodie in me would have loved to try more than the current fare. Still recommend coming here if y
My favorite place to eat at the Smithsonian museums. Excellent food in a nice atmosphere. Admittedly, a little expensive but that is Washington DC for you. I recommend the Campfire buffalo burger.
Wild rice, 3 bean, and salmon with prickly pear dressing; Yes it is delicious. We love the ambulance. Water flows rite up to your seat. We were very hunger and delighted with good service even thought it was 5 min to closing time. (4pm). The exhibits opon till 5:30. When you order tell them Joe
Love the variety! Rarely do I see museums that offer anything other than Chicken tenders and fries, so I appreciate the choices. I ended up getting the hanger steak with chimichurri with cilantro-lime rice and sprout salad.
My wife and I stopped in here for food while traveling from the capital building to the George Washington monument. They have multiple food options which is good for large groups. My wife had the chicken quesadilla with quinoa salad. The red salsa was delicious and we ordered fry bread to dip in it.
We really enjoyed the three sisters salad, wheat berry salad, and enchilada! The wheat berries were chewy and well-cooked, with a light dressing with the mushrooms, and the beans had a great marinade and balance of textures and flavors. The jicama salad was alright but I’m pretty sure it gave me mi
Surprisingly, food at museum's cafeteria can be good. Everything was very well seasoned and delicious. The rib has a sweet taste from the sauce that they brush on top. The salad the comes with it is very good. The goat stew has somewhat a strong goat smell but it is fine for me, and the meat is real
A surprisingly good Museum cafe option. The Indian taco on fry bread was very good, and so was the bison burger and fries. There were good options for small kids as well. The cafe got crowded at lunch time, but the cafeteria style service moved quickly. Definitely recommend this museum and cafe!
Best Smithsonian restaurant meal. The hanger steak with chimchurri was outstanding (or at least when I requested medium rare). Worth the wait.
Our smoked salmon on bread with avocado spread was delicious. The two sides, quinoa salad and wild rice salad, were yummy. The portion was quite big, enough for two people. Only $1 7.45 before tax. What a nice surprise for museum food!
Go out of your way to dine here. Far and away better than any other museum dining experience. Plus a really cool representation of Native American foods. Service was excellent and efficient, portions generous, presentation showed care, and food was delicious.
I was told to expect basic cafeteria food, but I was very impressed with the quality of food here! It was definitely above basic cafeteria level quality, and I found the dishes being served fascinating, being that they were inspired by native tradition. The food was overall filling and satisfying, I
Cafeteria style restaurant inside the museum (they had several food trucks parked outside the museum too). The fry bread for my Indian taco was the best I've ever had: it was perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not too greasy. The cafe is expensive, though: $50 for my daughter
The Navajo Taco was great! The frybread was definitely yummy and something I've missed, and the Hatch green chilis (albeit, canned) were a great addition! The staff here is super friendly as well. A great addition to a great and iconic part of the Smithsonian.
Delicious crispy fry bread ( I could have eaten this all day), multi colour corn tortilla chips with creamy guacamole, thick gorgeous refried beans and a tamale with a gently warming tomato salsa were the vegan treats in this essential museum space. A must visit!
It was good. I had heard a lot of people talk up how great it was, and how there were different sections with different Native American foods. I got a goat stew that was pretty good!
