We hosted our wedding at Right Proper this fall and they were great for work with. Taylor, the events manager, was incredibly responsive to all our requests and emails. Everyone at Right Proper was helpful and accommodating of our needs. The wedding went off smoothly, the food and drinks were great. Everyone commented to us about how good the food was. They also were willing to help out with decor and A/V, really going above and beyond our expectations. Cannot recommend them enough if you are looking for a space to host a private event.
More of a trendy themed brewery, visited for a hour or so, beer was good. DJ was playing some tracks. Food was pretty good. It was quiet when we visited, had plenty of seats mid afternoon on Saturday. Staff were attentive. There were some smaller children with their parents so seems to be pretty kid friendly.
Worth a trip if in the area to try some jars.
Nice brewery in DC. The area is definitely still "up and coming". We went on a Sunday and found street parking after circling the block a few times. Next time I would take metro, which is right around the corner.
The beer options included many of their well known favorites but there were a few that were new to me.
The place itself is very nice. Tons of bar seating and there is a patio outside.
Service was great. Definitely stop by if you are in the Shaw area
Still one of the best breweries in DC. If there's a knock against them, it's that some of their beers across styles can be a bit thin or light. Other than that, their selection and style array is excellent and they are consistently very good.
The food on the whole is great and the space itself is a win.
The food shown is happy hour fare.
Love LOVE getting any meal of the day from Right Proper! The fish tacos are my favorite & the Strawberry Tiramisu is to DIE for! They actually don’t brew ANY bad beers either so whatever your preference…you’re going to find something dope to pair with your meal! Hats off to the chef!
PS: Don’t skip the charcuterie either! 😋
Early visit, right in time for the happy hour. Ready for a "Raised by Wolves" - dry hopped Pale Ale. A well brewed Pale Ale as I like it. After this, I recoment the fruity "Voyage to Nectaron" IPA.
Located close to the Shaw-Howard University and Theater and the Duke Ellington Memorial.
Metro Greenline, Buses 90 and 96 to bring You close to here.
I went here for the first time this week to grab a bite before attending a show next door at the Howard Theatre. I like to try a variety of things when I go to a new place. I ordered a burger with a side salad, chicken tenders and fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and very delicious. The chicken tender were a perfect size and the fries were beyond yummy. I washed everything down with a Maker's Mark and ginger. I will definitely go back!
Great little local brewery and restaurant in the Shaw district. Pils was awesome!! We tried the Chick Filet, Lamb French Dip, Chicken Noodle Soup, and Pretzel bread. All of the food was yummy and the salad sides were very light and delicious. The venue also offers many tables and games to play while your there. Cheese plates for the cheese lovers!

Fish and chips, if it’s on the menu I take it as a review challenge. “Oh I see you fish and chip. Challenge accepted.” I say.
I lost. New favorite fish and chip. It’s here, come and get it in the nation’s capitol at Right Proper Brewing Company.
And the beer? Well I’ve had so many favorites in different locales. I came here because it’s the highest rated brewery in DC proper. And I agree the three I tried were very good. Nothing weird about the flavors, no hints of awkward brew prep practices manifested into the beer. 🤙🏽
I need to speak about the QR code menu/ordering thing they have going on. I hate it. The servers were confused, I was confused. It’s not fast food. I came here to be waited on. Get rid of the thing where you make me do the work. It undercuts your employee’s gratuity.
Location: just north of downtown in a thriving neighborhood with loads of brick. More brick than you’ll ever see on the west coast in any one day, it exists here in this neighborhood. It’s a bustling neighborhood, lots of pedestrians all day passing. It should feel like a quiet side street but there’s constant flow of traffic. Nice place to feel immersed if only for an hour.
Outstanding beers! Try the sour and the saison, finish with the porter. Food was authentic and good spiced. Waiter fulfilled compliance but not more, not very attentive but nothing to complain about either. Can recommend this place for great beers and good food. Money for value very ok.
