Oyamel - Washington DC - Photo album

We recently dined at a Oyamel Mexican restaurant that left a lasting impression. I like the vibrant atmosphere and colorful decor. The menu boasted a wide array of authentic dishes, especially tacos. We started with freshly made guacamole, prepared in the middle of restaurant with ripe avocados an
We dropped in for lunch on a Thursday and had self-seating at the bar with full menu available. Top marks all around! The bartender gave impressive service to us and those that arrived immediately afterwards, quickly filling the seats around us. While he had mistakenly entered two of one item in pl
We went here for my birthday as a surprise from my partner who had a flawless time setting up a reservation. All the food was really fresh and tasty, and even the guac is made out in the open. We ordered a variety of different dishes to share, and while pricey, you do get what you pay for and it was
We dined outside because that was the only reservation available. I am so glad we did since the weather was perfect, and the dining room was incredibly noisy. The food is good and attractively plated, but I recommend going for the freshly made guacamole and beer selection. A delightful restaurant
I visited this place a few times throughout the summer and clearly after the first time, I couldn’t get enough! Regardless of whether you’re at the bar or at a table, you’re greeted with chips & salsa which is always a nice treat. I’ve tried everything from the salads, to the tacos, to the ceviche.
Would give 10 stars if I could. The meal was delicious, the atmosphere is beautiful, and service is friendly and so wonderful. I HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for Mexican cuisine. We really loved how authentic they make everything as well. Just a wonderful dining experience all around!
This is one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the DC area. They have yet to disappoint me and every dish is just amazing. I was extremely impressed with the fish taco that I had. It was on the spicier side but had so much flavor I couldn't help but finish it quickly. My recommendations are to
Oyamel has a lovely space and wonderful staff! We started off with the guacamole that's made fresh and you can clearly taste when it's brought out (plus the women by the entrance making them). I was glad to see a vegetarian section though not a lot of vegan options which I'm sure you can ask to make
We are a Belgian family that had just arrived in DC after a week in NYC. What a great experience this was! Feeling exhausted and finally having time for a real restaurant, we were welcomed by our waiter and the menu and setup was explained. We picked several dishes to share, sides and rice. That di
All the dishes we ordered were SO good and refreshing. They literally made the guacamole in front of us!!! Small plates is perfect and the chips were so good! The atmosphere is amazing!
I came here with a party of 3 for a work dinner. I came away feeling pretty full, but it was definitely on the pricey side. I ordered a balanced mezcal cocktail which was fantastic. The tuna ceviche had a weird soy sauce base, which may have made sense to pair with tuna, but I thought it was too s
The tacos and quesadillas are amazing, considering the portion size is small. The staff are incredibly helpful too! Oh, and try their fresh guacomole, it is fantastic!
It can get really loud! Maybe it was where I was sitting but oh! My! Really loud. The food was good I ordered some tacos mushrooms (wasn’t cooking okay) and beef (really good not complaining). We ordered ceviche verde two thumps up but not for a table of 4. What really was worth the margarita and 3
Oyamel Cocina is an absolute gem in the world of Mexican cuisine! It's a crime that this place doesn't have a perfect 5-star rating because it's nothing short of extraordinary. The food here is not just delicious; it's a flavorful fiesta for your taste buds. Let's start with their guacamole, a mast
the best Mexican restaurant I've been to! the tortilla chips were crisp and warm and the guacamole was *so* good. the small tapas plates were a fun opportunity to try new things I hadn't before - like the ceviche (containing grasshoppers). service was lovely and they even brought a free dessert at t
We tried the fresh guacamole and it came with hot and fresh chips! We also tried the following: ATUN PACIFICO* Ahi tuna with Maggi-lime marinade, scallions, avocado, toasted pecans, fresno chiles, and crispy amaranth BISTEC CON MOLE COLORADITO Grilled dry-aged flank steak with a Oaxacan mole of
We loved this restaurant! All of Jose Andres’ restaurants are fantastic. The Baja Tacos were amazing. The atmosphere was great and there was no problem from the staff even having little kids. The Brussel sprouts and Black beans were also amazing!
Spot on flavors so thoughtfully put together. This place absolutely offers real authentic flavors with a modern touch. We enjoyed the vegetarian options and all of the dishes were fantastic. The service was also attentive making sure our water glasses stayed filled.
Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in DC now! Love the atmosphere, food, and service. Much thanks to Andres, the bartender, for the awesome recommendations for drinks. I’ll definitely be back again soon!
