Really enjoyed the Wienerschnitzel at Cafe Berlin 🔥 It is a perfectly crispy, thin piece of veal that is breaded and fried. For my two sides, I got the potato dumpling and the German Mac & Cheese. In all honesty, I didn’t find the sides to be that good. To me, the potato dumpling seemed a bit rubbery and dry, although the Mac & Cheese was decent. However, the Wienerschnitzel itself is delicious. I am not German, but the food and ambiance seem very authentic, at least as far as I can tell. Definitely worth a visit!

Authentic, delicious, seasonal, all around 10/10 experience. They have a fantastic selection of house and rotating drafts to make your beer-enthusiast dad feel like it’s Father’s Day. Service was professional and attentive. Beautiful presentation and flavours for the dishes - we had some classics like schnitzel and autumn soup, and also enjoyed their game-meat specials, which were impeccably prepared. Only sorry I didn’t discover this gem sooner. Thank you Rico and Cafe Berlin.

Not a bad place! It was my first experience with German cuisine so I do not have much to compare it to. I had the Sauerbraten. My date had the wiener schnitzel. The Sauerbranen had a delightfully rich red wine sauce and the German macaroni and cheese was some of the best I've had.

Schweinhaxe is amazing! The biggest portion I've ever seen and authentic. Not dry and skin was crispy. Also has the potato pancakes, fried saurkraut and chicken with mushrooms. Beer selection for Oktoberfest was also great with Liter steins.

Went here for my partner’s bday, the food was sooooo good here. Got the sauerkraut balls, pretzels, jagerschnitzel and apfelstrudel, all were delicious! The jagerschnitzel came with spatzle, I’m not usually the biggest fan of spatzle, but it had this mushroom gravy was divine and ate it all up! And the service was great as well, shout out to Astrea was taking care of our party of 7 on a Friday evening and had us laughing throughout the night. Opted for some Oktoberfest beer that did not disappoint. Will be back for another special occasion for sure.

Thursday night visit. Not busy. Attentive staff, Owners family came by to greet our 9 month old. Big lag between appetizer and main course (they admit to small kitchen) but all food items were very good or excellent when they arrived.

This may very well be my favorite restaurant in D.C, I always make sure to stop in when I'm in town! Cafe Berlin dishes incredibly hardy German food with big flavor. They also offer some great beer selections. The inside of the restaurant is very rustic and cozy, and in the summer, there is gorgeous patio seating out front.

Delicious, traditional German food. Great portions and quality service. The pretzels were incredible, as was the Apple Strudel - both were probably the best I've ever had. Loved that the sauerkraut was actually sour. Highly recommended!

Local gem run by lovely couple who have weathered the COVID storm w ease and grace. The experience has made them solid in every degree of fine dining experience. Amongst the many specialties are the daily specials and dessert delights. We enjoy this institution sporadically, each time wanting to come more often. I’m not generally a fan of heavier food, but this a place that does it well. The flavors are contained in just the right places, delicately plated, cooked precisely, served proudly. As I said, this place is a gem.
