The decor, service and food was fabulous. We went on Easter Sunday for their brunch menu. My wife's appetizer was the Hamakua Farms Hearts of Palm with baby arugula, parmigiano-reggiano and fried shallots. Her main course was the Duck with fermented turnips, watermelon radish, rutabaga hash, house-made ricotta and walnut truffle. The desert Lemon Raspberry a sablé brenton, whipped lemon ganache, raspberries and toasted meringue. I had the Vichyssoise made with fried leeks and parsley oil. My main course was the Colorado Lamb Chop, a pistachio-dusted loin, sugar snap peas, romanesco, baby carrots and mint oil. This was our first time and will make it a regular dine for us.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience at 1789. The restaurant is charming and intimate, just large enough while still maintaining a relatively quiet dining room. This place is great for a special occasion meal or, like in our case, a Monday date night in Georgetown. Our cocktails were delicious and consistent each round (the seasonal pomegranate-apple cosmo was a real treat). We also got the wagyu beef tartare to start, very tasty! For mains we got the NY Strip and the Berkshire pork chop, both great but I must say the pork chop was one of the best I’ve had lately. We shared the Brussels sprouts and pomme rösti, both very good as well. Our servers were very attentive and extremely polite. They also confirmed any allergies for the table and pointed out specific items on the menu that contained tree nuts. Highly recommend trying if you’re in the area!

Went here for my girlfriend’s birthday. The ambiance is very nice. A little dark but still great. The staff was super attentive and on it. It felt like a Michelin experience and I have been to a lot of them. The recommendations and conversations were awesome. The food was very tasty and presented nice other than the halibut. That seemed a little bland but not a huge deal. Everything else was fantastic and I would definitely return.

Warm and inviting, 1789 draws you in with its Federal Style and thoughtful menu. I started with the wonderfully decadent Foie Gras Mousse that came served with a homemade doughnut - a pairing I had never seen before. For my main, I enjoyed a medium-rare rack of lamb. The surprise was how good the escarole is paired with it: charred, flavorful, and complex. Don’t miss out on the ice cream and sorbet, especially the honey-yogurt. It was a pleasure celebrating my engagement here.

PERFECT Valentines Day (actually we went 2/16) dinner! Nice restaurant, warm welcoming atmosphere, top rank service. Make sure you make reservations especially around Valentines day. We may have ordered too many dishes but every one of them was beautiful and delicious. There are nice choices of non- alcohol drinks. I love the foie gras and I think it will be top 5 in my life. Love the little gift of a pound cake :D Definitely recommended! Will come back for important days.

1789 is an amazing experience. It is a historical and elegant setting. It is quiet enough for conversation and relaxing. We have been several times now and everything has been amazing. The service is impeccable, making all who come feel important and well taken care of. The brioche crusted halibut is like butter. Definitely worth the experience!

Last night in Georgetown and we wanted to try this Michelin star restaurant as a treat To end our thanksgiving weekend and 1789 Restaurant did not disappoint, it blew our tastes buds away! The butter squash soup we started out with was so amazing that we knew the rest of the dishes would get better and better. Be sure to take a video of how they present the soup…it happened so fast, great presentation. I had the brioche halibut and My tastebuds were just in heaven. Our bellies were full but we still wanted to enjoy the evening w deserts and it did not disappoint as well! Service was excellent ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And the food was delivered quick. This is my new favorite restaurant in Georgetown by far and looking forward to coming back again!

I'm just one of the peasants, so I will describe my experience as such. I couldn't understand any of the drinks, but "That's Life" was pretty good. Had some good flavors. Rosé was sparkly and dry and very wine-y. Good indeed. Wagyu melts in your mouth and steak was cooked perfectly. Everything is garnished in veggies I have never even heard of. The servers were super nice. We went on Christmas Eve and they gave us a fancy dessert on the house. My cultured French friend thoroughly enjoyed her experience and her lil snails and croissonts. Thank you for this food experience.

Fine dining at its best, this iconic restaurant is located in a beautifully renovated Federal house. The main dining room has a fire place giving it a very cozy atmosphere. The staff is incredibly professional and work together like a well-trained team. The food was exceptional. This is a must go when visiting Washington DC. Do not forget to make a reservation, very hard to get in!

Excellent Michelin rated restaurant in the heart of Georgetown. Come feast where the presidents dine.
