I don't often give 5 stars but this place is exceptionally good, sat at the bar and Amy was a great bartender and server. The clam chowder was an unexpected surprise, very good. The house made pickles were delicious. Had the Classic Hamburger, bun was excellent, meat was cooked perfectly medium and with the pickles and cheese added, it was one of the best I have had. The building is 150 years old and the atmosphere is great.
Highly recommend.
Couldn’t find anything not to like about this place. Everything was phenomenal, from how I was greeted when I walked-in to being greeted when I excited. I did bar seating and the waiter made it a point to remember my name and checked-in with me regularly. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with truffle fries. I didn’t even know I could upgrade to truffle Parmesan fries until the bartender suggested it. Though it was good, in hindsight, I wouldn’t have opted for the upgrade because that just means the fries are costed in a heavy truffle oil and topped with Parmesan. Not ideal for my diet, barely are anything else for the rest of the day. The chicken sandwich was great! I’m not a fan of bread (I usually just remove it) but the bread was flavorful moist and fresh. I requested a drink that wasn’t sweet and he made me a skinny margarita which I enjoyed. I’m not a heavy tipper by any means, but I tipped over 20% which is rare. The service warranted the tip.
Fantastic experience! Our server, Andrew, was awesome, and the food was so GOOD! 😋 Highly recommend the sprouts and the smoked bacon old fashioned. Burgers were excellent, juicy and flavorful. Definitely go with the parm truffle fries. Andrew recommended the Right Proper draft, and man, was he right! Very cool place, we will definitely go back.
Stopped in for lunch at this location recently. I liked the pickles served separately (great on the Bacon Cheddar Burger), and the Bavarian Pretzel dip was fresh and hot.
Location is pretty nice (steer away from the bar if you're dining solo, since the usual local bar seat hogs abound) and relaxing.
Service was good, and the traffic there on a late Sat afternoon was pretty brisk.
Glad I was able to stop in for a good, non-assembly line burger!
The burgers taste amazing. Love that they have variety type of salad to choose for a side beside fries. Nice atmosphere and attentive service.
Finding a good burger in a new town can be difficult and sometimes the place you find won’t match your expectations
Thankfully, this is not the case for The Capital Burger.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly the burgers were at least 8/10 if not easily 9/10
Would definitely comeback anytime we visit DC
Family and I were visiting D.C. and I wanted to have at least one decent meal while trying to save money for the rest of the trip. Located The Capital Burger being the highest rated burger joint in town, so we made our way for dinner. Awesome clean environment, the bar looks AMAZING, super friendly staff and great service. I enjoyed the Bacon Cheeseburger, wife had the Capital Burger (both phenomenal) while the kids enjoyed chicken strips and sliders. ALL tasted amazing!!! The wife enjoyed her awesome Pursuit of Happiness cocktail while I had the amazing Smoked Bacon Old Fashioned! Family topped it all off with a Belgian Chocolate Mousse for desert! If we are ever back in D.C., we will be back!!! Thank you for the awesome experience!
Great food and fast service. The capital burger was excellent: soft toasted bread, juicy meat and flavorful cheese. The possibility to substitute a kale salad to the fries is also quite appreciable. Across the street from the convention center.
Capital Burger is so awesome, I tell you every time I have to work in DC near the convention center I always come here for a burger and I try different burgers. Today I had the roasted Mushroom Swiss burger and it was so good I asked for a medium rare and it actually came out medium rare. They have great drinks awesome bartenders great selections on drinks. Great waste staff, the host greeted me with a smile, they do have outside eating and it's just an awesome place to eat at. They do carry happy hour Monday through Thursday I believe but definitely if you have not come to eat at this place definitely come to eat at this place.

It's definitely a place I'd go to again. We had the sweetest waitress who attended to us just enough. She wasn't there too much or not enough. As you are seated, they bring you some pickles in a mason jar. At first we were surprised because we'd never seen that before. Since it was there, we tasted the pickles. They were a pleasant surprise. They tasted like a kosher pickle soaked in a vinaigrette. We ordered the truffle fries, a Capital Burger, and the Cheeseburger. You could choose fries, chips, or a Caesar Salad with your burger. We chose the Caesar Salad. Well.... they did not disappoint!!!! We ate every single piece of the Caesar Salad, it was that good. The dressing was rich and flavorful. The greens were crisp and fresh. Even the croutons were AMAZING. I got the Capital Burger, and it tasted like the best French onion soup you could buy with a burger on it. The bun was soft but still firm. It was like the bread you'd get on a French onion soup. My words just can't do it justice, I swear. My daughter got the Cheeseburger. It was seasoned well, cooked well and delicious. They put the lettuce and tomato on the side as she requested. For desert, I got the Coconut Cream Pie desert, and my daughter got the Chocolate Mousse desert. They were amazing, too. The coconut cream pie desert had toasted coconut on top of a layer of whipped cream. The filling was so flavorful. It was just the right amount of richness. The bottom was a graham cracker crumb bottom. The chocolate Mousse desert had whipped cream on top with layers of chocolate mousse with a buttery chocolate cookie crumb bottom. They were so good that we actually got one of each to go, too!! They were top desert shop quality yet only $6 each! The atmosphere was very chill and cozy. They had tall tables and chairs, short tables and chairs, booth seats, and seats at the bar. All were great. The gentleman who took your name as you entered was very friendly and thorough. At one point, a bar customer sat down to make a call at a table they had just cleared and set for a table of four guests. This gentleman at the front handled getting this other gentleman to move in a very professional manner. I was impressed. If in the DC area, definitely put this place on your list of places to try. You won't be disappointed.
