Love their pizza and ice cream. The passion fruit burnt basque cheesecake flavor is out of this world!

Happy Gyro is great! Such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Only missing 1 star because what happened to the Gyro?? That was one of the best things to eat and DC and am so sad it’s not on the menu anymore. As the namesake of the restaurant, please bring it back!!!

I love this place. If you'd have told me right before the pandemic that one of the best haute cuisine restaurants in DC (Komi) would soon change its menu to pizza, gyros, and fries and I'd love it, I'd have said you were crazy. But here we are. They also sell their own ice cream, and it's delicious. Expensive, but so good nothing else compares. Happy Gyro's menu is short and changes frequently, based on what's available. The veggie gyro is fantastic but they haven't had that for a couple months. The spicy veggie tacos come in those old fashioned hard tortillas, and are delicious - but pretty spicy. Grandma and grandpa pizza squares taste as good as you'll find in NYC. They still offer the extensive wine and drink selection as they did when they were Komi. The chef and staff are all from Komi too, and provide very good service to match fine dining or street food. Now that the pandemic is supposedly over, I don't know if they'll go back to fancy dining. Right now, everything is mostly carryout and the inside dining is closed. But I like both Komi and Happy Gyro, and the latter is much less expensive. As of a few months ago, I think, the inside has been reopened! Not for dining, but for picking up your food and drinks. It looks nice! You can browse the wines, beers and ciders.

Got the vodka grandpa slice, red grandpa slice, and white grandpa slice for mains, and the halloumi bread with mushrooms and carrots with orange labneh for sides. The pizza was great and the sides were exceptional!! The labneh was to die for and the mushroom loaf was unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Looking forward to going back to try wine and ice cream next.

One of those places that you’re proud to say is a local establishment in the city. Everyone has always been so friendly to myself and my partner for the multiple nights we’ve ordered for pickup. The ice cream is fantastic and the wine selection is great. Very happy they’ve introduced local delivery.

Friendly staff and nice walk up experience. I ordered a grandpa pepperoni slice, which included some unexpected jalapeño, that was delicious. While I waited for the slice, I got a chance to try two of the ice cream flavors from the cart out front - my favorite was Basque Cheesecake, but they alternate flavors, so whatever they have when you go will probably be tasty (even when it’s cold out)

First time checking this place out and it will definitely be one of my top choices when I am in town. Tried multiple different items and they were all excellent. I love that the Vodka sauce is actually spicy and not a sugar bomb. The staff is super friendly and do not sleep on the ice cream. Even 30 min after I picked it up everything was great.

Just had my first Komi experience and it was hands down the best meal I’ve had in my life. My boyfriend and I are making our way through the DC Michelin Star places and decided to try Komi for a belated Valentines dinner. Komi has been the best thus far with zero competition from the others. There’s just no comparison, and the fact that it was almost half the cost of Pineapple & Pearls made it that much better. I have to comment on how amazing the staff is first. Kyle was attentive, hilarious, and knowledgeable. I didn’t catch the name of the woman helping us but she had short brown hair and was just wonderful. The first 4-5 courses are small but so delightfully balanced and flavorful with simple and fresh ingredients. The figs were to die for and so were the scallops. The pasta we were told is handmade every day and was the best I’ve ever had. Everything was perfectly seasoned and it was timed incredibly well. My partner and I don’t drink but they brought us a non alcoholic drink to try that was just incredible. Everything they brought was better than the last. The desserts at the end were just a perfect finish to the most incredible meal. Can’t wait to go back.

Amazing dinner experience that offered a lot of familiar flavors, but with an elevated twist. My husband and I split the wine pairing and got to enjoy a nice variety. Although the dishes came out slow, we had a great time and came home with leftovers.
