My friends and I recently dined at Eastern Star Restaurant and couldn't believe how fresh and delicious all our food was. I have had Chinese food this quality before, but only at extremely pricey places. Everything was obviously cooked to order, and I was impressed with the spices. I will definitely go back - Eastern Star, you've made loyal customers of us!

This place has changed name 3 times in the last year. Was expecting a different restaurant and menu that I had seen online. When the Korean BBQ was there it was great. But this menu was the same as all the other Chinese restaurants with a couple of different items. Moo shu I had lacked the seasame oil flavor, her pad Thai didn't have the peanut flavor that this dish should have had, kind of bland. I don't expect this place to last very long.

Actually this place now has a different name New Island Restaurant. We ordered vegetable soup and chicken noodle soup, both of which were awesome. Tasty and refreshing but not rich. The staff were really nice and promptly served. Loved it.

Nime Chow looked like it was made by a two year old. Pad Thai was simply disgusting. Crab Rangoons were your typical frozen variety found in every Chinese dive and they were heavily over cooked. Fried rice had far too much soy sauce in it and did not taste fresh. Vegetable soup was okay if you can get past many of the snow peas having dead blotches on them. The inside of the restaurant looks run down too. I would recommend you avoid this place.

Eastern Star make the best crab rangoons, Won Ton Soup, House Fried Rice, the Chicken Chow Mein is a hard one to find in this area they make it Cantonese style. Best we have had in Rhode Island.
Take out is convenient online good web site.
just egg foo yong was somewhat over cooked eggs need a low temp for cooking.
Thank You Eastern Star we keep coming in for more of your good food.

Glad they're back in town really missed out on their food for the last year-and-a-half or so trying. Was trying to find a Chinese restaurant similar to their style of cooking didn't like all the places I have tried. Menu is similar to the old one with an upgrade I think. Good bang for the buck as well.

My wife and 3 kids were looking for an option for Asian food and saw the sign for this restaurant...tauting Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese.
We should have known that the empty restaurant on a Saturday night was a bad omen of things to come.
We received very pleasant service and since we were the only one's there, service was quick.
Ordered hot & sour soup, scallion pancakes and nime chow.
All 3 were horrible.... It got worse.... The pad thai and lemon grass chicken tasted so bad that despite all of us being very hungry, we left most of it on the plates. You know its bad when 3/4 of the food remains on the plates and when ask for doggie bag..you say no thanks. A dog wouldn't eat this slop.
It couldnt even substitute as stomach fill...
When we got home my kids were still hungry. Avoid this place until the replace the chef.

By far the best place to get shrimp and lobster sauce from (they make the brown kind aka Cantonese style). It is so hard to find a place that makes it well and insanely addictive. I don't usually eat in the place but order out from because i live a block away. The lowmein and fried rice is pretty good. The general tso chicken needs work but the hot Asian chick at the door is freaking hot. The egg foo young is great too as well as the bone less ribs. I have had much of anything else from there because I'm so freaking addicted to the lobster sauce.
the one major down side is that they do not give you a complementary rice for you order. it like a buck or two for a large. If your as cheap as me i just put some on the stove before i go out to pick it up and when i get back its rdy. Seriously im cheap as hell. If i could make this food i would but im terrible at it.
