My first time here and I was impressed. It is a nice cozy place , that offers a rustic vibe. They have a nice outside patio , solid bar, and comfy seating. The staff were very nice and super attentive. If you like to enjoy a nice adult beverage like I do at dinner , they do a generous pour. I enjoyed just about everything, from the water glasses they used, the bread choice , strait down to the dessert. The food was great. I had the shrimp and risotto special ( not on the menu) , and she had the gnocchi. The dessert was fantastic. Guess it would be fair to say I will be back in the near future. 👍🏼👍🏼

My wife and I visited The Shanty for the first time this past Sunday. I never knew it existed in my 10 years living in RI. I just happen to drive by a few days before.
First of all, it has a great draft beer selection, which is a bonus to us.
The atmosphere is very quaint. We loved the inside. Our server was excellent as well.
I ordered a burger and it was fantastic as well as the Caesar side salad I had in lieu of French fries. The dressing was spot-on.
My wife had the lobster and Mac special. While she said it was good, it wasn’t worthy of the price tag. Very little lobster in our opinion. We mentioned this to our server, I guess she mentioned it to the manager and they promptly took 2 beers off of our check. A very nice gesture by the restaurant. Something we weren’t expecting. It was just an FYI on our part.
We will certainly be back. They won new patrons!

Went for brunch, had Eggs Benedict and it was really good, the sauce was delicious. Our waiter was very pleasant. They lost one star for a skimpy portion of home fries (they call them house fries) they were very tasty. Will definitely be back.

Food is great, but unfortunately they have a sign on the door that says “no mask? Get the fork out of here” - which I had to explain to my three kids. But the bigger issue is that this is outside even the current mask mandate - but certainly outside the realm of reasonable practice at this point.

Easy 5 star. To be fair, I don't have much to compare it to in RI. But, having lived in NYC, I could easily see The Shanty doing extremely well in any restaurant environment. I highly recommend the ribs, as they literally fell off the bone and the watermelon bbq sauce was exceptional. Salmon was also excellent, cooked well and accompanied by a very good house-made sauce.

Food and drinks are excellent, vibe cozy and not pretentious. We've been twice and there were lots of great options on the menu both times, with some new options second time. This place is a new favorite for us for date night.
