Review Harpoon Willy's - Wall Township

Nice local spot, been twice, and both times the service was great, and the food is really good. It has a lodge- like atmosphere, big fireplace in the main room, and of course the gorgeous water view. Definitely has become one of my favorite places to dine when I head to the shore. A bit away from the boardwalk but well worth the drive.

Good, real food. You can really taste the char from the grill which is nice. I would recommend a sauce for your steak if you like more flavor. Menu isn’t very extensive but it doesn’t need to be. Service was great as well.

The only reason for my 2 stars is because the day boat scallops really just grossed me out! The risotto scallops and veggies everything just tasted like a stick of butter! The calamari by the 1/2 pound was pretty good. The lobster roll was generous amount of lobster but something about it tasted kind of fake. The burger my daughter loved ! I don't think I'd go back.

Stopped for dinner tonight. I had the White peach Sangria which was very refreshing. I had shrimp cocktail and a special NY strip steak with baked mac n cheese and green beans. Hubby had a ham and bean soup and a Lobster, shrimp and clam special pasta. The shrimp cocktail were somewhat overcooked but still okay. The steak was perfectly cooked to med rare and the mac n cheese was one of the best I ever had. The green beans were bright green and crisp. My husband enjoyed the soup and the pasta special but was very disappointed that they did not serve any bread with the pasta even when he asked. We also asked for a window seat but told they were reserved. When we left, there were still several window tables empty.

Used to love this place but tonight they fell way short. Appetizers were completely over cooked. Baked clams chewy and shrimp cocktail was completely dry. Dinner was even worse. Baked seafood looked like a child’s platter and shrimp, clams and scallops were over cooked to dry and no flavor. Braised short rib was fine but string beans were hardly cooked. We won’t be back. There are to many other places that care.

Food was good and portions were large and prices have certainly increased. We need to blame the inflation that we are currently experiencing and possibly the increases in cost of maintaining a staff. I feel that $80 for lunch for 2 is a bit high but it is a nice place to meet with friends.

Been here many times and gave several 5 star reviews. Not today. Party of 5, 2PM reservation on Fathers Day, was seated promptly. Placed orders for drinks, appetizers and diner. Mentioned to the server there were no napkins, plates or utensils at our table, she said she cold get us plates and napkins, but the utensils were being washed. OK, in spite of the fact that there were 4 tables (ranging from 4 - 8 seats) around us that were empty and had full place settings, I guess the "ghost customers" are more important than the paying ones. Apps came our, still no place settings, told the food runner who brought the apps, he appeared indifferent. After a few minutes and the apps getting cold, I got up and took the place settings off the unoccupied table myself. After a long wait, 2 of our 5 dinners were delivered, with no explanation about the other three. One of the missing meals was the same as one of the meals that showed up. We assumed they were coming right out, but you know what happens when you assume. After about 10 more minutes, the other 3 meals had not shown up and I asked for a manager, who apologized and went to the kitchen to see what was up. The meals showed up a minute later. I ordered the fork and knife burger, which I always get at HW's, ordered medium. It was so badly burned, it would have taken dental records to identify it. They made me another, but needless to say, by the time it came everyone else had either finished or was close to finishing their meals, They did comp it, but It was not at all enjoyable. This was a total breakdown between the back and front of the house as well as management. I get the whole short staffed thing, but the restaurant was properly staffed for the amount of patrons they had. There were many empty tables and sections. Tables should be set, meals should come out together and food should be properly cooked, always. Too many other dining choices on the Jersey Shore to deal with this. This was once my favorite, but I definitely won't be back.

Waitstaff was pleasant and our waiter went above and beyond. The scallop appetizer was delicious! My burger with lobster on the specials was fine, but not up to their usual delicious burgers. My friends fish and chips looked and smelled delicious, which she said it was. Overall always a good experience.
