Came in because I was feeling Italian- but didn’t know what exactly. I walked in and was promptly seated. There was a birthday happening on an alcoved part of the restaurant, but besides that, it wasn’t too busy. It has a real welcoming environment. You’re able to see into the kitchen, which has a real brick/stone oven for pizzas. Super neat.
My waiter was covering me and the birthday party, and I don’t think I was a priority. I had a pretty nice wait between getting water——then she told me the specials and left, without asking if I was ready to order. So another wait. But then she came back and I ordered the spicy seafood pasta. It wasn’t spicy. It tasted like the seafood just had old bay sprinkled lightly on it. No hate to old bay, just wasn’t the spicy I was wanting. The seafood in it was cooked well though, the shrimp was like perfect, not tough. And the mussels and clams- yum. The entree filled me up so I wasn’t up for dessert, but their line up + it said they were made in house made me wish I wasn’t that full.

It’s a shame that food quality is not that good as it is praised in the comments. Pizza was nothing similar to the photos uploaded here and lamp ragu was jus ok. For this price I would not recommend it.

Horrible food, lousy attitude by owner.
Ordered Chicken Parm, the fresh pasta side was almost raw. The breaded chicken cultlet was fried in the same burned frymax we smelled walking into the place. The mozzarella was barley melted. My wife's veal scallopin dish was cold and unbeatable. We did not eat either dinner.
We asked asked for our check and we're given a check for $75.
As we left, I saw the owner at the front entrance and said you have a lot of nerve charging us for these meals we did not eat. As we left, he laughed😁
So as promised, I promised him I would write a review, so here you are.
Clearly a person struggling in the restaurant business who is taking his financial issues out on the food he serves his customers.
Buyer be ware!

Excellent local eatery with great pizza and entrees. Food is very enjoyable and well done with delicious specials to add to the offerings. Service is excellent and attentive. George the owner always greets you with a cordial smile and welcoming feeling. We have been there a few times and have enjoyed each visit. We consider it a local gem!

I have been going to Circolo since they opened. We love the food, atmosphere and the owner George and his entire staff. They make you feel like you are at home. One of my favorites are the short ribs. They are delicious! Of cause the pizza is delicious as well! I recommend if you go, you will not be disappointed. Oh yes, Try on Sunday Nonna's pasta dinner, it just happened to be my suggestion months ago and they decided to do it. Growing up every Sunday in my home was pasta on Sunday. *****

I can't tell you how much I love this place! Everything I had was excellent. I absolutely LOVE their eggplant camponata. I could literally eat it by the spoonful! Their margherita pizza is also delicious...perfectly crispy crust and just the right amount of cheese! Love the decor and ambiance...it's such a warm place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

i was really hoping this place was better than I experienced. I was going in with an open mind despite what others had negatively written but I have to unfortunately side on the negative spectrum. I really hope this place makes. We got the calamari which was kind of bland until you squeezed about half a lemon on it but the sauce it came with must have been a bad batch. It tasted like scorched milk which leaves an unpleasant burnt taste. Unfortunately that sauce was also used with my extremely soft and mushy gnocchi. As a chef you must taste your food before it's served. The pizza was way too floppy for it to be authentic Napolitano pizza too. The kitchen seemed a little overwhelmed so I'm hoping that my large party wasn't the reason why the orders got so messed up and that the food took so long to come out. I will give the place another shot at some point when it's not so new and hopefully I can update this with good news.

Came here for lunch one Friday afternoon and it was certainly a great experience.
We had two appetizers (meatball/eggplant) that everyone enjoyed, even my Italian friend who swears that she's the best Italian cook in Bergen County. My gnocchi was okay at best. It was very grainy and not nice and tender, chewy like I like it. Tasty, but imperfect. We got complimentary pistachio, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream (?) after our meal, which was very tasty.
Another reason for the lack of 5 stars was how rushed we were to order. We sat well before lunch closed but within 10 minutes we were told we needed to order immediately. It didn't end up being too much of an issue, but it was a nuisance none-the-less.
I would definitely come back, though.
