Loved the roast duck and filet mignon! The sides were good and the corner table by the window was a nice spot to celebrate our 36th anniversary. The complimentary dessert was such a nice ending to a great meal.
It’s not easy finding a comfortable room, varied menu & outstanding service for a family birthday gathering of 30+ people. We were assisted by a smiling staff who never made us feel rushed. And those popovers!! As big as my head!
Overall Excellent. I visited Antons on a Thursday night before New Year's weekend. My wife and I are from Becker, MN and were celebrating our anniversary. This was our first visit to the restaurant. We ordered the ribs and a ribeye steak. The service was great and the popover, salad and entrees were also excellent. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated and has clearly been around for a while, but that is what gives it it's character. There were plenty of other customers, but not so many that you feel crammed in and rushed. I would recommend this restaurant as a good place to eat.
Anton's quality. I've been to Anton's several times, but I never knew:
"Anton's proudly serves only 100% All Natural Angus Beef (and Chicken!). All of the beef we serve was raised without the use of hormones (ever!). No antibiotics are used (ever!). The cattle were raised on an all-natural 100% vegetarian diet (e.g. grass!) And best of all, they are certified Humane Raised and Handled.
That's pretty cool, Anton's. It'd be even cooler if the cows didn't eat corn either. What are the chances?
My steak was prepared as requested, rare. They serve a variety of quality beers at the typical markup, ridiculously overpriced low-quality wines (which doesn't affect my rating because I rarely drink "restaurant wine" around here), and boast one of MN's largest selections of scotch.
I always enjoy the musty smell from the mostly annual, but not necessarily, flooding of the first level and find the decor delightfully tacky. Don't wear your best here, but please not only a t-shirt. And take off your ball cap, please.
Memories!!. I loved the food when I worked there (3 years during college), and now I send all of my friends, students, and family there when they want to know where to go in St. Cloud!! Great food and lots of history!
Quaint, local, and reliably good. This family-owned restaurant has been a fixture of St. Cloud for generations. They still provide an at-home eating experience, complete with a menu surprisingly diverse and rich in culinary styles. You can't go wrong with a dinner at Anton's.
A St. Cloud legend. Atmosphere is neat. A great place to have a party, or have a romantic dinner as well. Food has always been exceptional. Been eating there for years.
Awesome popovers. The atmosphere is pretty casual and "cabiny", just what you'd expect in a rural Minnesotan restaurant. The food is more upscale than the decor (or the service-our waiter seemed nervous and was shaky). The popovers are why you come here, but the steaks were delicious and the portions were huge. The meal comes with so many things, it's definitely a great value for your money.
Never been here for Dinner but lunch is pretty good
Locally Owned. The pop-overs alone are worth the visit. I'm drooling right now thinking of one.
I loved everything about it. It was an amazing experience. The popover bread with honey butter is definitely the best dessert in my opinion. I'll definitely be coming back!!
Great food. Definitely worth the visit. The decorations are just an added bonus.
Nice atmosphere. Low light in the evening makes for a nice intimate dinner. It wasn't too busy when we were there. It was nice to have a conversation in a quiet restaurant. The drinks were good and the food was real good. Try the moonshine sirloin on mashed potatoes. The famous popover was great as well.
Got there lat on a Wednesday night good food great service. Will go back again.
I drove 16 hours in last 24 to get here before they shut down for holiday. Popovers always worth it!
Stopped in for appetizers today and ordered the crab and shrimp stuffed mushrooms and their popovers, very delicious! Our server was amazing GRACE! (that was her name)
Excellent food, from the appetizers to the main courses. Service was great and we were seated overlooking the Sauk River. No complaints at all.
