The Egg & I Restaurant

The food and service was great here. I got the Belgian waffle and all I could say was wow wow wow! The best I have ever had. The family tried the coconut pineapple pancake, avocado skillet and the ham and bacon skillet and it was all very delicious. The only thing is all their pancakes are whole wheat. Not a fan of whole wheat pancakes.

We really enjoyed our visit to Our Breakfast Place while traveling through Waco. I had the avocado mash toast and my husband had the lemon blueberry pancakes. Everything tasted so fresh. The blueberry pancakes came with a blueberry compote and a lemon curd with fresh blueberries. I had basted eggs with the avocado toast. I had never heard of basted eggs, they are very similar to a poached egg. The service was great and the bathroom was clean.

Wanted something different for breakfast and wanted to try a new spot. The waitress was top-notch and the food surprised me. I tried the Farmer’s Hash, which was served with greens and goat cheese. Couldn’t get any further from traditional. Despite being busy, was served fast. I took that first bite, and before I realized it, my plate was clean down to the bare China. Loved it. Next trip I might even see how good their traditional breakfasts are.

Food was beautiful and tasty!! Parisian Benedict packed a strong punch of rich umami notes from the cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and hollandaise sauce. Greens were fresh and vinaigrette didn't overwhelm them. Premises were clean and bright. Waitress was a delight! Bright, cheerful, friendly, enthusiastic person to have in your morning.
