Double Ll Steakhouse

We were walkins. First to arrive. Place was empty. Wouldn't give us a table in the dining room because everything was reserved starting at 6 pm. We were offered a place in the bar. This would have been difficult as my husband carries oxygen tank & uses a walker. We are age 70 & 77. I asked if they took walkins because they were making it quite difficult to eat there because we had no reservations. The response was "yes, we take walkins but give preference to people with reservations. If we could order & eat before 6 pm (was almost 5 already), then we could eat in the dining room." Unfortunately we had to leave. Yes, food is good, yes, service is normally great but we felt mistreated & we were upset as my husband wanted to treat me to a mother's day dinner. It took great effort for him to just get out. He is a disabled Vietnam veteran with lung cancer. We hope that this place revises its attitude to accommodate walkins with/without handicaps & makes tables available to those that have to plan last minute.

Great place for BBQ. very impressed. better than any other BBQ in Visalia. I admit it is expensive but the atmosphere is unique and biiiig portions. free garlic sticks. meal comes with a small salad and main dish. I couldn't finish half my plate from the portions but great for left overs. if you want to try a little of everything pick the mixed grill. 10/10. only bad thing I can say was the wait time for a seating but it's worth it. went here for Valentine's day as a suprise and very happy with my date dinner. My husband loved his steak and it was his birthday so that was great. My ribs were more fat than meat. Clam chowder was delicious, very well done. The decor did not seem to match the prices. It was a nice time but a little on the pricey side for what I got. I would go back and try something different.

We were in town for business and our host hyped the place up all week about how great the hickory flavor was and we were saving eating there as our last meal. Overall atmosphere was great and everything was clean and rustic. I wanted to really get a good sampling of all they had to offer so I ordered the sampler platter that included ribs, half chicken, New York strip, and sausage. Sides were fries and baked beans and they had a garlic toast side. Now to the utter disappointment.... I couldn't wait for the hickory smoked open flame cooked NY strip.... my initial thought was, "This looks like it's been cooked on a flat top....?" Then BOOM first bite was nothing but a sickening taste of liquid smoke.... and it was not better from there. Ribs were tasteless, chicken had a terrible off-putting flavor, and sausage was your run of the mill store bought junk. The best part of the meal was sadly the garlic bread... huge disappointment.
