I’ve been to many catered luncheons by Gourmet Gang and have always enjoyed their food. Today I swung by to pick up a chicken salad on French banquette and once again, they did not disappoint!
I felt bad for the workers who were cooking inside their little hut in the middle of the Haywood Shopping Center parking lot. It was over 100 degrees and their faces were beet red. They told me it was 90 degrees inside. For such a tiny space, I would think the owners could install a better cooling system. That is just inhumane working conditions. Treat your employees with respect and dignity. This isn’t supposed to be a sweat shop!
Thank you to the Haygood team! My order got mixed up earlier in the week and I sent a message just letting them know I was disappointed to miss my favorite salad- things happen, it gets busy, and order was mixed up. Well, I’m happy to say they made it right by making my salad again with the sandwiches for my bosses, since that was part of the mix up. They were kind and nice because I understand and was nice to them as well. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff- food can be remade and they did just that and added a complimentary pumpkin rolls- delish! We will continue to come back! Thanks to the two guys who continue to smile and sing making light and fun in a good way!! Thank you Trina and Clair for you prompt follow up as well. 😁

I got the Santa Fe chicken sandwich, it was really, really good. The ladies who work here are really nice, too.
Never heard of this chain before. Was looking for a good Italian hero in the area for lunch, and Google pointed me to this location. What a great concept! It really doesn’t get easier than this. Ordered via the App, was given a quick pick-up time and received everything as ordered. Drive up and go. Lunch was ready earlier than the assigned pick-up time.
The sandwich ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Portions were good and the price was reasonable.
Why 4 Stars instead of 5 Stars? Although all the food was fresh, I was disappointed with the flavor of the pasta and potato salads. They were both extremely bland. My only suggestion would be to enhance the flavor of both of these lunch sides and 5 Stars would be rightly justified.
First time going here and was so surprised. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much..I thought I would get a commercial made sub roll but these rolls were hot and fresh. The chicken salad was so good with nice chunks of chicken and good quality lettuce as well. I will definitely be returning
I have never been let down! I started eating from the Chesapeake location, then when I switched jobs I started eating from Bonney, and the downtown Norfolk. Once I realized I lived by a location, I have been eating from there a few years NOT ONE LOCATION HAS LET ME DOWN. My family from NC gets me to bring salads home each time I visit....which is often!!
Always fast friendly service. Delicious fresh food. One star removed because it is obvious the servers in the glass box are burning up on warm days (sweaty and red-faced).
I love this place! The food is amazing & the service here is phenomenal. I live & work closer to other Gourmet Gangs— but drive out of my way to come to this particular location every time.
