Raleigh our waitress was amazing. She went over and beyond for us. The food was hot and fresh and worth every penny. You definitely get your money's worth
Well worth the wait! We went tonight and we only had a 30 minute wait. Fresh and great tasting seafood. Large portions at a great price. We had the shrimp basket and you can easily share it. The side of broccoli is insanely large and the hollandaise sauce is a brilliant idea. The hushpuppies with the housemade honey butter were so good that we ordered an additional batch!
My cousin and I were traveling from Maryland to eastern North Carolina, and she suggested going there because she had been there before, and I wanted to check it out. I ordered the broiled seafood platter. It was good. It could have been a bit warmer and a little more juicier, just a bit on the dry side and the crab cake should have had more crab meat and less filler, being that they are a seafood restaurant and so close to the bay. I will go there again, but I won't be ordering the crab cakes. So far, my home state of Maryland and their seafood restaurants have the best crab cakes. They are full of crab meat and almost no filler.
My family and I were frequent guests at Taylor's Landing Surfrider before it closed. The recently opened Surfrider in Providence Square will be my bestest seafood place to go. Excellent service, awesome food.
We were there on a Thursday night. It wasn't crowded. The waitress was attentive without being a nuisance. We had the broiled shrimp, scallops and crab. The seasoning was a little heavy but otherwise it was cooked perfectly.
I came to Surf Rider...first because I was excited about that I finally had one close enough to where I lived! My hubby Jason and I were filled to the brim with the most delicious food that ever came out of the sea...You have to try the shrimp and crab dinner! Yum! Make sure you get a lot of butter...the server was friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for a homey atmosphere with good seafood come here now! Jason, my hubby loved the fish and chips!
The food was delicious as always. I’m not a seafood eater and they have plenty of other great options. My mother loved her shrimp plate. Ask for David the next time you stop in. He was excellent!! Our drinks never ran out, we had everything we needed and he was just so cordial and friendly. His service alone is worth returning for. The place is nice, restrooms were clean and the food and service were A++++!! We will be back and we will ask for David. Thank you again for such a pleasant experience!!

My first time to this restaurant. I'm truly sorry, I should have taken pictures because it was a great lunch and pictures of the soup and our meals would make you want to visit too.
My friend wanted seafood and I love seafood, so we decided on Surf Rider. We arrived around 11:45 a.m. On the board were the specials and topping the list was broiled scallops with salad. I stopped there. We were seated in a booth within a minute of entering and the place was packed; we were told Verizon was having their Holiday luncheon. The waitress explained they had no heads up on the luncheon; however, our service was terrific.
My friend has been here previously and I knew I wanted the scallop special. We ordered ice tea for drinks. My friends ordered a small Caesar salad and Fish Tacos that came with tortilla chips , salsa, and guacamole. The soup of the day was she crab, my favorite, so I ordered a bowl and the scallop special and was told a salad or two sides. So, I chose two sides, coleslaw and fries.
The she crab soup was very good; yet Mannino's Italian Bistro, Watermans Surfside Grille, and sorry it closed because I found it the very best in VA Beach, Charlie's Seafood Restaurant on Shore Drive have/had she crab soup a bit better.
My broiled scallop meal was perfect. Scallops are easy to under or over cook, but mine were spot on perfect and a very good portion. The fries and coleslaw did not disappoint.
My friend's meal was also very generous and delicious.
Our waitress was wonderful. Our drinks never went below half-a-glass prior to her refilling. Appropriate attention to see if we needed anything during our meal. And at the end - dessert? Not this time, full.
In a nutshell, most enjoyable and very tasty food with a bit above average portions at a most reasonable price in a very clean place with terrific customer service.

Had the fried shrimp which were awesome. Fries were cold. Everyone's sides were cold. The BEST entree can be ruined by slacking on making the sides as good as the main course IMHO. Service was not good. Our server was polite but slow and had to be chased down a few times and reminded of things a few times. Sat at a high top in the bar area. All in all ok but nothing to rave over.
Lunch today for 6 ladies, server was Rachel. Really no complaints at all. We had a large variety of dishes to see and eat. Everything was fine and tasty. Clam chowder was a hit, a long with the salads - nice size and variety of veggies - everything fresh and delicious. Size of shrimp was outstanding, along with taste. Lastly, tuna and flounder fillets were larger than buns and taste also overwhelming. Rachel was on top of everything and made our lunch a fun and truly enjoyable outing. Kudos to her for exceptional service and to Surf Rider for food quality and all around super good lunch.
