This is without a doubt the best place to go for excellently prepared food and also the best people to take care of you and your dinner needs. I hate to call then servers because they don't serve you they accommodate your dinner needs. Everyone there is awesome from the owner Jerry to the head of the kitchen Mo. I have been there at least 10 times and I think each of the girls has equally as kind a personality as the other. There's no place like it in Virginia Beach. Love it.....
Traveled the world, ate at many restaurants and without any bias the Coastal Grill is the best. They are consistently producing top quality meals and service for over 25 years. How many places can you say that about.
I went to Coastal Grill to celebrate a special occasion. The salmon was delicious, definitely recommend. The lamb was good. The scallops were to die for, 10 out of 10 keeps you coming again. The side corn was delicious as well.
On the other hand, the shrimp and grits were not up to par. The added fresh tomato and pitted olives were questionable. Was not a fan of the potatoes either.
The ambiance and service are beyond exceptional.
We had the most amazing meal and incredible service by Montana. She was fabulous. We had a party of 10 and the majority of us had the soft-shell crabs which were the best we’ve ever had and 2 others had steak and one had the seafood pasta. All to die for. Thank you for a memorable night!
We celebrated my husband's birthday at Coastal Grill last night. I asked for an intimate area. The area wasn't private but it was quite and romantic. Our waitress Montana was great. The food was delicious. If we're ever in the area again, we will re-visit. My husband is a big eater so he elected the fried flounder. The portion size was larger than my crab cakes. The orange martinis had the perfect amount of alcohol.
Great meal as always! I get so excited when they have Softshell crabs on special as they are the best.
This is a nice spot! Complementary valet, nice decor and lighting, and everyone is dressed well. The food is solid, especially for price! It was a busy time when I went, so it was quite crowded inside, but overall a great experience, friendly staff, and would come back!
My wife and I couldn’t have picked. better place to dine for our Anniversary! Adam served us and was wonderful. He asked if we wanted to dine at a normal speed or slower. His recommendations we spot on. The food was incredible; so much flavor! Highly recommend the Salmon and Halibut.
Finally, their service went above and beyond any other restaurant we have ever visited. As we walked out from dinner, our valet had already brought our car around and the doors were open ready for them to assist us! Amazing! Ritz Carlton-level.

Coastal is a favorite of my in-laws who love to come here for their anniversary every year.
I've been a few times and find the service and ambiance to be stellar. It's like fine dining.
They have a beautiful bar area and a small patio - which is outside in the parking lot so not my fav - but the inside dining is very classy and nice.
Service is always wonderful and they're able to intelligently speak to the menu and answer questions or make recommendations when asked.
The menu is mostly traditional dishes with steak, fish, and chicken entrees and some nice salads and decadent desserts.
Come hungry! It's an experience.
The ambience is great, the servers are friendly and helpful, and the food is amazing! I had the salmon and tried the soft shell crabs from my aunt. Both amazing!! Sadly, it took over 1.5 hours to get our food, and we had little kids with us, which are not known for being patient. I understand nowadays is hard to get employees, but probably a warning that the kitchen was slow would have helped. Regardless, the place is fantastic and we’ll certainly come back, but likely without the kids.
The food here was very good. I had 3 different types of shrimp but I did thank the shrimp could have been cleaned a little better in the shrimp cocktail. The fried shrimp with the chili aioli was the best out of the three and I had shrimp and grits and the cocktail shrimp as well. The service was good but it did seem like our server was getting frustrated but I dont know what for. I would go back for the fried shrimp.
This is a very nice place to take your significant other, atmosphere is elegant, cozy, and romantic. Food is awesome, I've been here like 4 times and every time I have been amazed by every entree, great wine selections, and great cocktails. Don't forget to order dessert, and lick the spoon
