Gumbo Pot

Stopped while traveling through since it was close to the exit and had plenty of parking. It was Friday evening so there was a 5-8 minute wait. After being seated our waitress promptly got our drink orders. Wife had the bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo; gravy was fantastic. I had the fried catfish which was Greg and tasty with rice & beans (it was okay) and the bread was simply delicious and should’ve had a few more rolls lol.

I'm sorry, bur I have to tell my experience. I am from out of town and was recommended this place. However, it didn't impress me on my first visit. I called and placed my order. I arrived to pick up my order and carelessly trusted that everything was fine. When I got to hotel room, I opened up my plates and the order was missing both of our sides, no oysters which was suppose to come with what I ordered, and extra bread instead of my oysters. I immediately took a pic before I took anything (posted pic is after returning to pick up my sides). I called and told them what was wrong. I came back to pick up my sides. While I was waiting, another woman was getting very upset, because she did the same, but checker her plates before leaving . (Smart). They messed her order up. They had to redo hers. Her total wait time for a call in order was over an hour. When I get there to pick up my sides, I asked the manager did are want to see my pic. Her reply told me all I needed to know. Her reply was, "No, I believe you, I'm not surprised." If this happens frequently, then someone needs to be held accountable. Word of mouth goes a long way. Once again I trusted everything was fine. I got to room, set down and opened up my onion rings, 5 of them. I'm beginning to wonder if $50 was worth this much trouble. 🤔 However, the food is good but they need to step up the customer service a notch.

I enjoyed eating at the Gumbo Pot during my visit to Vicksburg MS. I had the fried shrimp, oysters, catfish and white chocolate bread pudding. Of course I couldn’t go the Gumbo Pot and not try the gumbo. It was alright, the taste was different than I’m use to. Although the shrimp and fish was good, I think that the oysters and the white chocolate bread pudding was my favorite. There’s a variety on the menu to please everyone in your group. I would definitely go again when in the area.

Nice spot for fresh good food. Friendly server staff and owner. Great tasting homely cooked food for very affordable price. Way better then fast food around area. Grits and shrimp and catfish with house crawfish sauce is nice. There daily special is just a great choice if you wanna eat everyday!! Do not forget to try there white chocolate bread pudding!! You will surely take some home for friends and family!!

Amazing food! The blackened catfish with crawfish étouffée was incredible. Such a great sauce. The Seafood gumbo was delicious as well. We tried the boiled shrimp dinner (comes with potatoes and corn on the cob) and the shrimp was great. We also tried the Shrimp & Grits which had a great flavor and was super creamy. A lot of folks around us were ordering the 4 lbs of crawfish and it looked really good too. Even the baked beans and the baked potato salad were some of the best I have had in a long while. Our server was kind and helpful. I am tempted to leave a 4 star review because it did take us a very long time to get our food, our check, and to pay our bill but the food was just so good that it overpowered the slow service. We would highly recommend this place!

My husband and I was traveling from Atlanta Ga, back to Fort Worth Texas and we stopped in Mississippi to get rest, and have have dinner. We decided to try Gumbo Pot because it wasn't that far from our Hotel. We looked on line at the menu do that we would know exactly what we wanted when we arrived at the restaurant. We get there and go inside and it was so crowded that we couldn't even see the counter. Finally we realized that it was covered by ppl waiting for a table and ppl trying to place an order. We finally get up there to order. And she takes our order, we tell her it's a " to go" order, and then says "do you want to tip us now?" So my husband gives her a $5.00 tip for taking our order. She tells us it's going to be about 25 minutes so we decided to wait outside, only because she said when upur order is ready we will call you inside to get it. So after 20 minutes my husband says, I'm going inside to be there when our order is ready he goes inside and the food was just sitting on the counter and no one thought to even call us inside to get it! 😡 But you wanted your tip ahead of time 😏 won't do that again. You'll get your tip after we get our meal. That was poor customer service in my opinion. This guy was standing in there waiting for his order told us our meals had been up there on the counter for at least 5 to 6 minutes 😯😡 I'm giving them a 3 only because the food was great. Fried Catfish, French fries Roll, and hush puppies. The food was great and I definitely would recommend this restaurant, only thing is customer service was not that great 😒
