Punjab Express

From the moment I stepped in the employee was very nice, she answered all of my questions, and had recommendations for someone who hasn't had Indian food before and was visiting from NV for a work training. I tried the chicken Tikka masala, naan bread and a few pastries that I'm not sure what they're called. The chicken dish was tasty, but the desserts were okay. Kind of too sweet for someone who doesn't like sweets a lot. Otherwise worth a visit at least to get a taste for Indian cuisine. It seems to be pretty affordable. I purchased the pastries for about 4.99 and the chicken Tikka masala for about 10.00 plus the tip my order came to about 20 something dollars.

We are very disappointed with the quality of sweets we have recently bought from Punjab express. We have bought many sweet boxes in the past months. Kaju katli was very thin and soft like they made it freshly . But this time kaju katli is very hard and thick like they added rice flour in it. We ordered Paneer Pakoras also they were so hard. We were very ashamed in front of our guest. If the quality of food will be like this we will never buy again from this restaurant. ☹️

I have tried several dishes at Punjab Express and none of them have ever let me down. The food tastes really good and the serving sizes are more than plenty since I always have leftovers. The prices are really competitive as well. For an appetizer, 2 main course dishes, garlic naan, and rice we paid $30 which I felt was fair. The staff is always very nice and even though they might be short staffed some days they are running around and trying their best. I highly recommend Punjab Express.

I did a doordash pickup order from here. Absolutely awesome food and service. I waited until the app said the order was ready for pickup, then drove over and the front desk lady had everything ready for me to pick up. I got the garlic naan and it was perfect. Slightly blackened on the bottom, but lush with garlic and hebs on top. Best i've had in a while. The 2 piece samosa chanaa and butter chicken were great too. Ordered right at noon on a Thursday, and it was fantastic. 10/10

Firstly, I have food at this place twice previously and it was unimpressive both the times. They mix artificial food coloring to make it look appetizing. Being an Indian and traveled across India experiencing various regional cuisines I can say this place has very bad food. This incident compelled me to write this review, we are a party of 6 and planned to visit this place as it is the closest one in Turlock. Arrived at the restaurant around 8 PM while the timings on Google stated that they close at 8:30 PM. The person the counter said they closed the kitchen in a rude manner and shooed us away. This felt very discriminatory and its sad to see that Indians bring their regional and cultural discrimination to the States. Could have been polite to tell us that they are closed. Seems like they have pathetic customer service. I would suggest to avoid this place as food is not great either.

Very rude and insulting customer service, we reached the restaurant by 8:00 pm. The person at the counter said the restaurant is closed in rude way with a hand gesture asking us to leave as if we were there for free food. We understand it could’ve been a long day for her, but she could at least be polite in answering us.
