Review Umbertos Pizza - Tulsa

Dennis Draeger
I remember when this place opened in Tulsa at a different location more than 20 years ago. The pizza then was amazing with a completely different flavored pepperoni than I've ever had and the freshest ingredients I've ever had in a pizza. Umberto's has gone through many changes, and the pizza is still great. It's my favorite pizza place in Tulsa. There's a wide choice these days for New York style pizza, but nothing beats a Supreme from Umberto's. It's the best.

I’ve been here a couple times now and I love the pizza here. It looks simple, but sometimes simple is all you need. I love that you can order by the slice and trust me, one slice will fill you up quite a bit. I also tried their calzone and it was the best I’ve ever had. The red sauce that comes with it is super tasty and they don’t skimp on the fillings. Definitely check this place out if you want no frills, quality NY style pizza.

Finally tried this local place. The pizza was delicious and outstanding. My love ordered the garlic knots and you can see they put like an entire can of minced garlic on it. We absolutely love garlic and this was wayyyyyy to much and ruined it. Pizza joint was cool but outside of ordering not much small talk or atmosphere building going on.
Gabrielle Platt
Decent slice of pizza. Taste was mediocre but the ingredients seemed very fresh.

This is the best pizza in town! I love that they do by the slice pizza and that it is cooked immediately. Everything is fresh and delicious!
Adam Howard
Really good NY style pizza. I bought by the slice and really enjoyed it, even though it was reheated. The crust had a good chew/crunch ratio and the sauce was not too sweet. They also are not shy with the toppings. The guy next to me had a calzone that looked really good. I think if I would have ordered a whole pie fresh it would have been an easy 5 stars. Worth noting that the prices and service we're also really good.

Like wow! Haven’t had that good of a pizza ever! One slice is bigger than my boyfriends hand. We went for Father’s Day and tried the meat, pepperoni, Hawaiian with jalapeños, garlic knots and the wings… all were delicious. Just two gentlemen working and they whipped us up our food fast and it was piping hot! Couldn’t say anything better than amazing! Highly recommend anyone stopping here

Generous toppings that manage great flavor without the need for a ton of red sauce. I haven't met anyone that didn't love the pizza or calzones here.
Kristina Large
Delicious pizza and calzones. The pizza was made fresh. I watched the man throw the dough in the air after I ordered. If you're craving pizza and are tired of the same old same old come here. Also, you can get it by the slice so this is a great option for a quick lunch break 🍕🍕🍕

What a pizza!!! I have known this place for little big over 25 years. Still the same delicious New York style pizza. If you live in Tulsa/Broken Arrow area you should try it. Don't expect a fancy place, expect one of the best pizza in town.
Swati Nemade
One of the best pizza places in Tulsa. It's a small diner style quick bite restaurant with friendly staff and clean facility. Pizza crust is really super tasty made to perfection. They made Jalapeno pineapple pizza for the first time and still it was made the best way. The calzone and marinara was equally good. The ingredients for pizza were good quality. Also I loved eating my food sitting next to the curvy mirror wall.
Travis Law
Dam good pizza. I got a 10in supreme and it was great . Enough for 2 to eat . The pizza by the slice was big and tasty. Highly recommend stopping here.

Est pizza in Tulsa hands down. I've been going there for 15 years and it's consistent, fresh and great service. Always say hi to Moses, an example of how to treat people.

I love this place. This is not where you go for fine dining but if you want awesome, I mean awesome pizza, go to Umberto's. They are always busy but they are always fast. I tell everyone this is a must try for pizza!
Brock Horton
Unberto's has been a great hidden treasure for a while. That did move out of the hideout, but their pizza is still my absolute favorite. Not a fancy place and you certainly won't find someone educating you on an extensive beer selection, but you will have an amazing pizza at a great price.
Jake Linnabery
One of the greats in Tulsa for me! I love non-chain pizza places, they always make the best. Really good pizza and the garlic knots are redonkulous!!
Daniel Greenwood
Pizza by the Slice!!! Great pizza and garlic knots are a must but you better like garlic they give you plenty. Great food at a great price, best bang for your buck, when it comes to pizza. The owner is probably one of the friendliest in Tulsa.
Michelle Talvitie Stanley
Best pizza I've had in years and years. Only thing I can think would make them, is one closer to home. We drove 85 miles to Tulsa for medical treatments and we usually try to stop in there for pizza.
Geoffrey Shon Brewster
Best local pizza in town. They deliver. Are reasonably priced. And the knots are to die for. Authentic NYC style pizza that you'll need to fold over.

Overall it was pretty good. Garlic knots where great. The pizza couldve used a bit more sauce . The single slices are plenty big enough

Great Pizza!!!!!. Love the crust! Been coming to this place for sometime now. Owner is nice and the pizza is IMO, the best pizza in Tulsa!!!
Austinhiatt13
Yummy. The calizone was the BEST! The interior definitely could use some work. But what matters is the food is delicious!

3 out of 5 stars. I had a pizza and tried the garlic knots. The pizza was pretty good but needed more sauce. The garlic knots were interesting. Had to ask for pizza sauce to dip them in and it was cold. When I go to a restaurant I expect it to have real plates and glasses not styrofoam. I don't know if they don't like doing dishes or what. The customer service was poor.

Yummy pizza!!!!. The best pizza!!! Thin greasy and PERFECT flavor! We love this place

Pizza by the slice. Last week I was in the area, and stopped in to order a couple of slices of their sausage pizza. For those who haven't tried Umberto's, their slices are large and prepared very well. I got there about 11am, and was the 1st to order in house. My pizza came out quickly and was very, very good. Nice amount of sausage and cheese and their pizza sauce had a nice flavor. I had to work to finish both slices, and left a happy guy. Give them a try!

Supreme Pizza. 20 inches of "supreme" deliciousness!
Tom
Best Pizza in Tulsa. I've had them all and this place is the best and doesn't cost an arm and a leg like Hideaway. Get the garlic knots.

I Burned My Lip on a Slice!. If that doesn't tell you how good it was, well, I couldn't wait to bite into my slice. I was next door at the eye glass store at lunch time getting glasses adjusted, and I thought, "I'm starving" so I walked next door and ordered two slices to go, a cheese and an Italian sausage. It took a few minutes so I walked around and looked at an old clipping on the wall from a review, read that, picked up a local free paper, and my order was ready. I opened it an sprinkled some hot pepper flakes on top, and walked back to the car. Now, I had a 20 minute drive home and I knew I couldn't stand to wait to eat one of those slices, so I set up one of them with napkins so I could easiely eat it without making a mess. These slices are big, so you have to do the Brooklyn fold, less messy too. I got on my way home and picked it up and briefly remembered how I used to burn my mouth when I was a kid eating a slice that was too hot when wham! Burned my lip on a flaming piece of cheese! Didn't I just remember doing that? Oh, crap, I had to put it down and wait a minute or two before I could try again but it was soooo good! It took all the drive home to cool it down and nibble at it, but it was all I remember, along with the burned lip, and I ate the other slice later that night, slowly heating it up in my toaster oven. This is just like I remember growing up in NJ, at the local pizzeria. The slices start at about $2.45 I think for a cheese, worth every penny, like I said, they are huge. It is located near my daughter's house and I am going to have to make a habit of this! One comment, I just edited this post after looking at the menu posted on this page and the prices are out of date, so don't go there thinking these are current! This needs to be updated

Maybe u got the pizza on a bad night cause it really wasn't that good didn't like the hamburger topping and my garlic knots was over cooked and could barley bite into them I might try them again but I really am not sure

Gigantic pieces of pizza! Pretty fair pizza. Not the best you can get in Tulsa but more bang for the buck. Great place to go with the family when you don't want to spend a bundle. The staff is pretty friendly and the restaurant was clean. We tried the garlic knots, they are very buttery and a ton of garlic! Gotta be a garlic lover. Overall, not too bad but not my favorite.
Smclure
Best in Tulsa Love it. Come in once a week for a slice.
Carolgayle8910-lang
Best pizza. BEST pizza place near downtown I know of! Always add garlic to the topping! Extra fast and cheap, too!
Ron Durbin
18 minutes and counting for a slice of pizza. Not acceptable at all!!!!
Geno
New York style? Not any different than Oklahoma style. Simple Simons is not that far off, dont get me wrong, it wasnt bad at all, just dissapointed it didnt taste any different than what we're used to.

Pizza Beyond Reproach. Eat here all the time, it's the best pizza in town without question.

Great Pizza, Amazing Garlic Knots. I could live on Umberto's garlic knots. They are DRENCHED in butter and garlic. If you eat them, know that you will NOT be able to kiss anyone, or even get close to anyone for a while. But if you love garlic, these are awesome. My favorite thing to do is to get an order of the garlic knots and a slice of pizza and then shove the extra garlic onto my slice of pizza. Yeah, I really like garlic, ok? Their calzones are also really good. And trust me - coming from a fat girl, I can only eat one slice of their pizza. One of their calzones is pushing it. But I really like this place.
Toby Burdick
It's the best I absolutely love it!!!
Dan C.
They toss em they're awesome!. Great pizza! I love umberto's. <br/>Definitely order by the slice, definitely order supreme, and definitely dont expect to be able to eat 2 slices in one sitting. <br/>Lately, I've started getting the supreme with jalepenos instead of green peppers, and it is amazing. Really really good pizza, and at a very reasonable cost.

Freaking Amazing Pepperoni Pizza Like New York Pies

It's good but it's not really that unique. Everyone raves about this place but I think it's just ok.
Amira
Don't forget the calizone. I had not tried anything except their pizza until recently. Their calizones are great and they give a very large portion size.
Timothy H
Prices are very reasonable. I would recommend getting extra cheese on pizza. It isn't exactly 100% NYC style but closer than you would find elsewhere. The Calzones I really liked! They were very greasy but that is expected to a degree. They use Ricotta cheese which is a must for a true Calzone
KEDA
Good Pizza, Burnt Crust. It was yummy, but the crust was charded and crispy
Dan Smith
The Best. I have had many types of pizza from all over the country and nothing comes close to Umbertos. The price and quality of food CANNOT be beat, no matter where you go.
ItAlIaNgIrL1987
This is without a doubt the best pizza in the Tulsa area! Its always fresh and hot, the calzones are my favorite thing. You just gotta try it to believe it. Ooo and they have pizza by the slice!
Scott Cutten
Gotta have a slice. Was workin the Chili and knew i had to have a piece of pie from Umberto's. Being from NY I've got to say it's the best I've had in town. Priced right and not expensive like that junk at the Hideaway.
Joe
3 Strikes - Umberto's is OUT!. We moved to Midtown 9 months ago. Umberto's has only gone downhill. At first it was a consistency issue! One time the pie would be awesome, but the next time it would be awful. Tonight I drove back to show them my pie only had cheese in the middle. The man said, "you want cheese on the rest?" yeah..I like cheese on the whole thing. So I wait for 15 minutes for a pizza replacement. I drive three blocks home and discover, not a new pie but the old one, now covered in cheese and microwaved. It was almost cold. That's it - we will never eat here again. l

Would you return?. To me the true test of pizza is the morming after test. The party is over, you wakeup in a fog, mouth is dry, your head is about to explored and you would give anything for something to settle your stomach. There in the box are the last pieces of leftover pizza. Are they limp and soggy or brittle, dry and tasteless. Not Umberto's Pizza, even cold it was as good as it was the night before. They get my vote for return visits.
Little Ole Me
A relative from out of town recommended this restaurant to me otherwise I would never have come across it because of the location. Great pizza with lots of topping options.

Garlic Knots and cheese pizza=GROSS. I was excited to try Umberttos new york style pizza. I went on my lunch hour since I heard the service was pretty quick. I walked in and the tempature inside was just as hot outside (not really but it was hot and sticky), ordered my food just a plain cheese pizza slice with garlic knots, i waited for over 20 minutes for my food and there were a bunch of ladies at the table right behind me who i guess were also waiting too long for their food. After I finally got my food I wasn't even impressed with it. The garlic knots were "okay" but the pizza was pretty gross. I had Mario's pizza not too long ago so I had something to compare it to and Mario's wins by far.

WTH??? It's AWFUL!!!. I was looking for something different. Authentic. Tasty. With different toppings. So I read the menu and the positive reviews here. I was excited to get artichokes and sun dried tomatoes!! Not too expensive. The delivery was quick. The delivery guy was cute and liked my dog. He price was reasonable. And the pizza?? Tasteless. I mean it. I can't call it bad because would mean that it had flavor. And it did not. Bland. It was indistinguishable. Remember when your mother told you you had to eat your Brussel sprouts, so you pinched your nose? No taste, only texture? That is this pizza! Oh, and I bought the garlic knots. Gross. They need salt, and parm, and a freaking prayer. Ordered a large, ate a piece, gave a piece to who I hope is still my friend... And the rest?? To the dog. Sadly, to the dog.

Umberto's sausage rolls are out of this world. They are quite large, filling and come with a yummy tomato sauce.
Eli Bulman
Very good food. Great pizza great calzones. One slice is more than enough, NYC atmosphere; new York accent, soccer on the tv, and great thin crust pizza
David
As a frequent visitor to NYC I have to say this is the real thing. This is the best pizza in town-bar none.
Andrea Reamy Ford
Just back from New York-Umberto's Pizza is Better than NYC! Yes, it's a bit greasy but oh-so-good!! And I'm such a Chicago Pie kind of Woman!!! Bonus: I could throw a rock from my yard on their roof!
Shoppintulsa
I'll drive past 4 mazzios and 5 pizza huts... Gotta love it. Unique crust and taste for Tulsa pie. Service is prompt and I can't stop ordering the sausage with roma tomatoes.
Kristen Kendall
Huge Slices.. I'd have to say this is probably the best pizza in Tulsa. Order by the slice (a huge slice that is), or get the whole pizza. They were putting awesome unlikely & random toppings on pizza way before it was "cool".
Mo
Pretty good flavor, but man is it greasy. Overall pretty good
LuLuBean
Who needs pizza?. Just give me an order of the garlic knots & marinara! I love Umberto's. It's yummy, cheap & fairly fast (as long as the place isn't packed). I usually order a single slice & garlic knots. When I get home I always wish I would have ordered a second slice to go because later in the evening I want more!
Cred
Best Pizza. This place looks very sketchy but it will surprise you. They have some of the best pizza at the best prices. If you go there for a slice make sure you order garlic knots they wil not disappoint!
Sarah
It's a weekly thing. I work at one of the local hospitals in TUlsa.<br/>We order at least 1 x a week...<br/>We get the xxl pizza with ALL meats, and add manderian oranges and pineapples...an at the end of the night..there is NO pizza left over to bring home.<br/>I recommend the pizza along with the other 4 of my coworkers.

I have lived in Tulsa all my life. I have traveled extensively throughout my lifetime and have eaten my of pizza. We are fortunate to have such an establishment. Two thumbs up! Thank you and best wishes to your business for many years to come. I will see you again.

I don't know about their pizza. But the calzones are DELICIOUS. The sauce they give you with it is always cold (I had hoped they would warm it up seeing as how it's an important staple to the meal). I always order for carry-out or delivery, so I can easily warm it up. <br/>If you want multiple meats in the calzone, they'll be lacking in quantity. When I order just pepperoni, it's chocked full of delicious pepperoni and cheese, but when I get pepp and sausage... it's half full. :(<br/><br/>overall it's delicious. I found this site by searching for the meats they offer so I could order some since I always lose my menu.

Good for lunch (with an asterik). Good crust, good sauce. I like veggie pizza, and the veggie selection was pretty limited (about the same as Mazzio's offers). Flavor was generally OK, but the cheese wasn't a good, low moisture cheese that the best pizzas have. That said, one piece is is about all you need for lunch, and the per slice price is a good deal (would be a bargain with a better veggie selection).

Fork Me!. Umberto's is one of those little hole-in-the-wall places you always went to when you were in college. Of course, the top of the list item here is Pizza. Pizza's here are divided by physical size, and they have all the general toppings you could want on your pizza. I can't speak to all of them, sorry, but last time I was here I went with meat-lovers. Meat lovers is pretty self explanatory for those of you that read English (and I'm assuming you do since you're a few sentences into this), but to be more specific, your pie comes covered in ham, ground beef, pepperoni, and some sausage I believe on top of the usual sauce + cheese + dough combination that makes a pizza. As the previous review noted, mozzarella is a pretty moist cheese and when this is combined with the fact that pizza is a big saucy item covered in a bunch of meats that arguably have a high fat content that melts out of the meat and into your crust, your pizza can get kinda messy/moist. I rarely eat pizza with a fork but when I'm here, fork me. Now for me this isn't such a bad thing, the pizza tastes pretty good here and when you look at what you're paying, I'd rather come here than go to mazzios or pizza hut most of the time. <br/><br/>As far as service and atmosphere goes, this place looks like a hole-in-the-wall pizza place. It's not like "You don't know where I've been, Lou!" or anything like that, it's just an old looking pizza place. You'll be fine, I promise. The guys behind the counter are pretty nice the few times I've talked to them...they've even let me bypass the .25 refill fee a time or two! Plus, a random side note, you can pretty much see the entire kitchen when you're ordering, something that's reassuring to me, basically that they let the customer see "hey we're not dirty slobs, we keep the kitchen clean, don't worry about it!". <br/><br/>Overall, Umberto's gives you good value for your money when you're in the market for pizza. Lots of choices of yummy items make up for what might be a little bit of a mess. Pizza here is big and tasty and when that's coupled with affordable, it sounds like a pretty good recipe to me.

Excellent Pizza. Don't know where to begin here. The fact that you can go here and get just about any topping on a slice of NY pizza is incredible. Umberto's pizza is thin but also crispy. The pepperoni is pretty good, but the sausage is incredible!<br/><br/>And what about the prices!!! 2 people, 4 slices with drinks for 11 dollars.
Merritt
Good food, bad atm. Umberto's is a deliciously hidden secret of Tulsa. The pizza slices are huge and always smothered in fresh toppings and cheese. The atmosphere is lacking but its cheap and good food.
Fletch
Classic New York style pizza, by the slice if you want. Speedy service.

Stop by when in town. I live in OKC, but when I am in town I like this place. I seem to be scheeming on a way to get to that side of town and say, "Oh, Umberto's is around the corner. Let's go get pizza."
Whoisbrianbeyers
Wow!. Great pizza! Ordered the meat lovers pizza! amazing! I like it better than Hideaway

Best By The Slice Pizza In Town. I just have to say right off, thank you Umberto's for having pizza by the slice. Very few, if any, pizzerias still sell by the slice pizza. Not only do you, but you slices are the size of 2 slices combined from most franchises. I myself can get full off of 1-2 slices, w/1-3 toppings, of yours. Also, your garlic knots are wonderful. Anyway, Umberto's also has such toppings as spinach, sun dried tomatoes, 5 diff. kinds of cheese, bell pepper, etc. The staff is also a wonderfully helpful, motley crew of older latinos & blacks/College students. They also deliver.

This is an inexpensive, but great!, pizza place. It get's the Fat Guy Seal of Approval

It's been a few years since I've been to Umberto's and I HATE that I waited so long to go back...seriously.       My friend and co-worker Brenda and I were out seeing one of her clients and decided to go grab a quick bite. Enter Umberto's Pizza...and immediately you get the aroma of that old-fashioned pizza parlor from like when you were a kid.      Brenda doesn't eat like a man...but I do :-(  So I ordered the garlic knots to start...wow. That's all I should post is just WOW.  Soft, cheesy, bready goodness to the max.       So I asked the man behind the counter if the pizza slices were big...he held two fingers up as if to form a triangle, except the triangle he formed was not so big, so I ordered two slices. I'll just say, one slice and I was stuffed! So I saved the other for dinner!        You can see the crust, it's like a hand-tossed thin crust at other places, but it has the chew and taste you would get from a top "BIG CITY" pizza joint. And affordable! I think the pepperoni slic
