Best place to have some African food in town. U name it he does it with love. The taste is original. Go try it u will never regret it. My favorite is bake fish with fry plantain. The ginger juice is ok point too. Can’t wait for u to open one in phoenix as well.
Don't miss out on this place! The goat soup was some of the best soup I have ever eaten! I promise you won't regret it.
We had an amazing experience at Alafia. We tried the peanut sauce with chicken and egusi with goat. Tender meat and hearty sauce. They also served hot sauce on the side. If you can handle heat, I would definitely recommend taking out. We loved it so much, we got a bottle of their hot sauce to go!
You can also bring your own booze. We tried their ginger juice, it was great when paired with the mains.
Definitely recommend.
I can’t say enough good things about our quick stop here except I wish I could’ve tried more dishes. The sauce d’arachide (peanut sauce) with goat was sooo good. The meat was so tender, juicy and flavorful with that little bit of bone marrow you gotta suck out of there ;) I bet it’s also really good with chicken too. The egusi is so tasty and comforting with the fufu and the homemade hot sauce added some extra goodness to the flavors. Also got that with goat and it was so tender, it was falling off the bone. YUM. Overall, lots of flavors, very comforting, filling and Omgosh don’t forget to get some donuts because they are SO good! Not too sweet and an incredible texture. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in Tucson!! Def bringing back that hot sauce next time 😛
One of my favorite restaurants in Tucson. The fried tilapia and plantains and are incredible, and I love the peanut sauce with chicken dish too. I took my family here and they spent the whole drive home talking about how much they loved it. Authentic, fresh, and delicious!
Tentative to a second visit and hopefully more love from our local community, the flavors and the kindness of the service deserve a 5 star rating. The flavors of the Goat Soup and Sauce d'arachide paired with authentic Fufu were out of this world! Unfortunately i did not care for the Egusi but i wont let that ruin the experience. Will definitely be back!
I’ve been here several times - with friends, for takeout, to eat in by myself. Consistently delicious, tender meat, generous portions, and every bite bursting with flavor. Get the egusi with fufu, you won’t regret it! My favorite protein with the egusi has been goat so far. If you like spicy food, then ask for hot sauce on the side - it is so tasty.
Tips: Parking available in the back. Be aware, there’s no sign on the front entrance door so it may feel like you didn’t find it, but it’s open come on in! Ask for hibiscus and ginger drink samples! The former is floral and refreshing, the latter is invigorating and feels like a strong vitamin shot. Both so unique and adds to the experience!
I am so excited that this restaurant exists in Tucson! My friends & I came here for a birthday lunch and were greeted by a kind guy working in the kitchen. He took the time to inform us of the dishes. We ordered the plantains, grilled fish w/ cassava root couscous, jollof rice and egusi w/ fufu. Everything was outstanding! 10/10. Also- ask for samples of the hibiscus and ginger juices. They’re especially great mixed together. I will be back!

Absolutely delicious. Had both egusi and okra dishes that come with fufu + rice. Both dishes are amazingly spiced and flavorful. Will definitely be back when I come back next year 5 stars!!!
Love the first experience on the dish especially first trying goat meat, and the fufu was like the tortilla version when eating side dish lol, can't wait to try more dishes next time
I went in on my birthday. I've wanted to try egusi and fufu for the longest time. I got both of those, plus chicken they recommended. They told me about their in house hand made teas and gave me samples and I left with one of each of those. They were so nice and the food was delicious! On my way out he gave me a keychain from Africa for my birthday. Will go back very soon! You must try the food here!
We had our first egousi there. It was delicious. We also ordered tilapia bbq. It was so full of taste! It’s a tiny restaurant but the staff was really friendly. You should also try homemade hibiscus tea with ginger juice! That just made my day! We would love to visit again. Gave four star because of the fufu and tangy taste of couscous.
